Sounds good to me James! I'll always prefer hitters over pitchers when we're talking about long-term leagues.

I have an early pick that i am using on trout or betts hopefully. My league goes pitching heavy early though and when it snakes back around to me at 18 and 23. who do you think is the better option at SP? Nola, Giolito, Buehler
Jon Anderson
2:41
  1. Buehler
  2. Giolito
  3. Nola

for me!

Hey Jon big fan here. Listen i just wanted to get your take on Wander Franco. Do you think he should be drafted in the middle to late rounds for when he gets his call up? This guy could be a star!
Jon Anderson
2:43
Thanks Nick, you're the best, man.

In a redraft league, leave Franco for that dude who is trying too hard. There's a good chance he doesn't get enough PA's to matter, and there's also a chance he doesn't even hit all that well when he finally comes up. How many times do we have to see that "can't miss" prospect  miss before we stop spending valuable draft picks on them?

In keeper/dynasty, yeah go buck wild I won't try to stop you.

Looking to rebuild in a dynasty league keep forever, I give Bryce Harper and I get Clint Frazier, Francisco Alvarez, Jarren Duran, and $38 FAAB which should nab me someone like Asa Lacy in the Rookie Draft.  Is this enough for Harper?
Jon Anderson
2:45
Isn't Asa Lacy an old running back from the Packers?

Honestly, I'm not the dynasty guy - so I'd tweet at one of the other fantasy analysts here at FantasyPro's for this question.

But to answer it, seems much safer to keep the known commodity in Harper instead of trading him for a handful of lottery tickets.

Is Nick Madrigal the ultimate sleeper this year>?
Jon Anderson
2:47
In a roto league, you really want to average close to 20 homers per roster spot. Madrigal might not even hit you five. If you team him up with a big homer guy like Gallo/Judge/Stanton, then it could work - but overall he's probably a losing bet.

His batting average is sure to be elite, but there's no guarantee he will do anything else of use to you hitting 9th all year.

Think Stroman will rebound?
Jon Anderson
2:48
Sure, he'll rebound to what he's always been - a really underwhelming fantasy starter. I don't see the point in drafting him this year with so many other high upside guys being taken behind him.

Do you prefer a specific projections source? There are a few out there!
Jon Anderson
2:49
I like to average all of the projection systems together and use those averages as my projections. We do that here on FantasyPro's actually.

You can check that out and download the projections to Excel here.

What are your thoughts on Laureano?  He showed great potential in 2019 but fell in 2020.  Do you think he has breakout potential?
Jon Anderson
2:50
To answer the more general question here. One of my best pieces of advice for 2021 is to ignore 2020 and focus on 2019 numbers.

I'm all over anybody that saw their ADP's plummet because of a bad 2020 season. There's just too much randomness at play with what happened last year, so it's sure to be hugely profitable to take the discounts. Laureano fits that bill.

In a 10 team H2H league that favors pitching, do you like Sixto or Grisham better for 2021?
Jon Anderson
2:52
Sixto! Huge fastball, strong walk rate last year (7%), and a huge groundball rate (58%).

It was just 39 innings, sure, but man this guy could be incredible in 2021 even if it is restricted to 120 innings or so.

Arozarena 20-20 this season?
Jon Anderson
2:52
Definitely 20 steals, I'm not so sure about the homers but give him 600 plate appearances and he probably gets there. I do think he's still a little over-priced right now though.

Hello Jon, I have a question about who I should keep for my 12 team AL only Roto keeper league. I have 9 total pitcher slots, and I am going to keep Tyler Glasnow at $2.10, Zack Greinke at $1.00, and James Karinchak at $1.50. Should I keep any of these other pitchers for their price: Chris Bassit at $1.00, Aaron Civale at $1.00, or Sean Manaea at $1.00? Thank you!
Jon Anderson
2:54
Civale for a buck sounds good. Fantastic control despite underwhelming "stuff", but I think his ability to throw strikes will make him well worth the dollar and he could pay off for a handful of years. I'd pass on Bassitt and Manaea even for the low cost.
Keeper Question
2:55
I have two locked in already but have a conundrum on my 3rd. Pete Alonso in round 18 Luid Castillo in round 10 Jesus Luzardo in round 30 Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Jon Anderson
2:55
Castillo in the 18th. I think that dude wins a Cy Young this year.
MAGA Mitch
2:57
What round would you take Sev? He should be back after the all star break right?
Jon Anderson
2:57
I think anything after pick 225 in your draft is probably worth a stab, provided you can immediately stash him in IL.

Who is your number one sleeper in the 200-300 ADP Range? You are required to spill the beans
Jon Anderson

Nate Lowe. Now I have to go clean up these beans.

I've heard both sides of the argument on whether to figure in last year's 60 game stats.  (Christian Yelich etc..).  I think the stats have to be looked at, but taken with a grain of salt.  What is your take on 2020 stats as they relate to 2021?
Jon Anderson
3:01
I'm basically completely ignoring the "box score" stats (homers, average, runs, RBI), and I'm weighing 2019 much more heavily than 2020.

The best way to go is to aggregate 2019+2020 and look at the total. The more data you're looking at, the better.

Keeper question: Keep Gavin Lux or Ian Happ for an 18th round pick? (OBP/SLG league)
Jon Anderson
3:02
Ian Happ is pretty easy with an OBP league even despite the much lower ceiling. Lux is going to struggle to find playing time.
Rasta Pish
3:03
Jon do u believe wil myers will continue the level of productivity he showed in the shortened season last year or do you think it's more of a fluky small sample?
Jon Anderson
3:03
I'd lean towards it being fluky, but he still stands to benefit from that juiced Padres lineup, and he's a rare mid-round guy that can actually steal you some bags.
Jon Anderson
3:03
Okay it's 3:03, time to close up shot.
