What's up everyone? Spring training has started, draft prep is in full swing. Let's get to it!

keep two of the three....Kershaw round 3, Lourdes Guerriel round 16 or James Karinchak round 24
Dan Harris
3:01
High-end starting pitching is critical this year, of course, but unless the VAST majority of the top 20 starting pitchers are kept this year, it's got to be Lourdes and Karinchak for me. Only if pitching is really dire would I swap in Kersh.

We have a 6 team points league so everyone is stacked. We keep any 6 players. My definites are Mookie, Cole, Bieber and Lindor.  I then have Albies, Devers and Ozuna. What other two do I keep?
Dan Harris
3:03
The good news is you can't possibly go wrong. All those guys are fantastic. But I'd keep Albies and Devers, personally. Albies gets the minor bump for being a second baseman, one of the only "shallow" positions, and Devers is just narrowly ahead of Ozuna. Again, don't stress about it and you can't go wrong. But that's how I'd play it.

I'm in a 12 team roto league that has 6 keepers. Should I keep Jose Altuve or Corbin Burnes as my 6th keeper?
Dan Harris
3:04
It's gotta be Burnes for a few reasons. The first is that high-end starting pitching is critical right now in fantasy baseball, and you've got to lock in your ace when you can. Don't worry about it being a small sample size last year - Burnes is legitimate and changed his pitch mix to better suit his natural movement. He's an SP2 and a solid one. Altuve has fallen off in recent years and unless he bounced back to his peak, Burnes will be more valuable. Not all that close for me.

First time fantasy baseball player. I've played fantasy football for over a decade. Any tips (key stats to look for? For example) for a fantasy baseball first-timer going into draft day?
Dan Harris
3:07
Welcome, Devron! You'll love it, I'm sure. As for your question, man, you could drive yourself batty if you start digging too deep into things. We provide a lot of aggregate information for you: expert consensus rankings from analysts around the industry, Zeile projections that take various projection systems. They kind of help to weed out too many bad outliers, so I'd stay close to the vest and stick with them for now. As you get more into it in future years, fangraphs and baseballsavant provide a ton of useful information. Also, practice drafts on our Draft Wizard! You'll be a much better player quickly.

Does Jake Cronenworth repeat a solid (shortened) 2020? Does he even have playing time in SD?
Dan Harris
3:09
I mean, he could repeat it sure. Nothing was too out of line with what he showed in the minors. But man, it is crowded in SD. I think they'll want him to play, but they've got Ha-seong Kim and Jurickson Profar. His ADP is reflecting the risk but still, I'm not drafting him in many places.

2 pick in a 7x7 (k and ops) (losses and CG).    Rank acuna, Betts, Soto, trout please?
Dan Harris
3:10
Can't go TOO wrong. But probably Betts, Soto, Trout, Acuna. We are razor thin between them though

12 team Mixed League 6 x 6 H2H categories league, hits and quality starts are included, with the 7th pick, do you like going with a DeGrom/Harper as a 1st and 2nd round pick or going Trea Turner and Darvish/Bauer
Dan Harris
3:11
Additional categories don't change TOO much for me, but I think I'd stick with deGrom and Harper. I devalue steals a bit in H2H categories leagues, and deGrom, as my No. 1 starter, just carries zero risk for me. I'd lean that way.

10 team keeper league. Looking for advice on my 5th keeper. If I dont keep a 5th player than I qualify for the supplemental draft. Are Hiura or Paddack worth keeping or should I anticipate them being available in later rounds. (Cole, Bellinger, Machado, Robert are my 4 other keepers)
Dan Harris
3:13
Not sure who else would be in your supplemental draft, but I think the way I would think about it is whether those guys would be considered in my top 50 (10 teams, 5 keepers each). And neither is. Hirua is the guy I'd go with if I had to choose one, but I'd probably just let him go and hop into the draft.

I’m in a 10tm 6x6 keep forever league with 5 keepers. It also uses OBP....I have to select my keepers and my four locks are Acuna Trout Yelich and Trea Turner.....would you keep Pete Alonso, Wander Franco, or pivot to Sixto Sanche?  With the way the league is I’d assume whoever I toss back to the pool I wouldn’t be able to draft back.
Dan Harris
3:14
Wowsers. In a keep forever league, I'd take Franco. I have enough faith in his long-term outlook that it's worth the pick there given your IMMENSE base with those top four. That's going to be a contender for a long time.
Keeper Question
3:15
H2H Keeper 17 cat league (8 hitting, 9 pitching) would you keep L. Castillo in rd 10, P. Alonso in rd 18, J. Luzardo in rd 30 or W. Franco in rd 30. 3 year limit on keepers. All would be 1st year. Thanks!
Dan Harris
3:17
So, not sure of the exact categories, of course. If you're asking would I keep any of them at that price, the answer is all of them. If it's just one . . . it's actually Castillo for me. Again, starting pitching is more critical than ever, and since it's just a three-year window, I wouldn't bother with Franco over him, despite the cost. Tough decision, but Castillo is my choice

In an 8 team league (H2H Cat), would you rather take Realmuto at catcher to have an advantage when lineups are already stacked or take a catcher in the last round?
Dan Harris
3:18
It depends on where you have to draft him, of course. But yeah, dominant players at a position take on more value in shallower formats, and with catcher, it makes an enormous difference. So, really depends on where you're drafting him but assuming it's at or close to ADP, I'd lean Realmuto there.

10 keepers league. Mixed. 12 teams. H2h points. Trout harper Ramirez Rendon rizzo Rosario scherzer darvish Liam Hendricks. Who must be my 10th keeper? Castillo or ketel marte ?
Dan Harris
3:19
Luis Castillo and not all that close for me. I'm not buying what ketel did in 2019, and although I don't think he'll be as bad as last year, he'll fall somewhere in between. That's not worth close to Castillo to me in a points league.

H2H, 12 team #2 pick.  Who would you take?  And on picks #23 and #26, would you reccomend   SP and best hitter or 2 hitters and wait until #47 and #50 to select first pitchers?  Thanks?
Dan Harris
3:22
You can make a case for any of the top 5 guys, and not sure if you mean H2H points or categories. If it's categories, then Acuna or Betts, ,if it's points, then Trout most likely, or PERHAPS deGrom. I would almost always use at least one of my next two picks on an SP. With such a strong hitter base, you can (and should) make sure you get at least one ace
DJ
3:22
Who are your top 5 hitters in a 5x5 categories league
Dan Harris
3:23
My personal order is Acuna, Betts, Tatis, Soto, Trout.
Matthew
3:23
Should I be drafting Clint Frazier as OF3? Is this the breakout year?
Dan Harris
3:24
Not as an OF3, no. There's too much risk to his playing time to do that with both Stanton and Gardner healthy at the moment. So, closer to an OF4 for me right now. But that's where you can draft him given his ADP. I love his bat and want him on my teams, but there is some risk, of course
DJ
3:24
Lindor or Harper?
Dan Harris
3:26
I personally have Harper two spots ahead in my overall rankings. But six of one, half a dozen of the other
MitchB

12 team keeper league where we can keep 10 players. I have Lindor in the first round and Story in the second. Would you keep both and have 2 elite SS or throw Lindor back and take my chances on who I can draft at #11?
Dan Harris
3:28
I don't have Lindor as a first round player. but given that you're keeping Story, chances are that there are a lot of first-round players being kept. So, that's going to factor into it. But I have no issues keeping two shortstops so long as you have a middle infield position. And assuming other normal first-rounders are kept, Lindor would probably be worth it

3:29
Keep 4. H2H standard categories: Devers, S Marte, Merrifield, Giolito, Gallen, Yordan Alvarez.  Thanks in advance!!
Dan Harris
3:32
I'll keep the two pitchers, personally, as you probably know by now from reading. After that, it's Merrifield and Devers for me. Just narrowly over Marte, who I'm concerned may be reaching that point in his career where stolen bases aren't quite the given they used to be.

Any advice for snake draft strategy for an 8-team H2H categories league? I've seen some tips on 12 vs. 15, but what would you suggest with a super-shallow league like this?
Dan Harris
3:34
The biggest thing is that finding clear top-tier talent at positions is key, so I am more apt to target someone like Realmuto in an 8-team league. Also, really reliable starting pitching is a finite commodity, so if you can hammer that in an 8-team league early, you should have an advantage. And finally, play for upside. There will be plenty of "solid" options out there on the waiver wire
Lucas

#2 pick H2H.  Would you select DeGrom or Cole?
