Greetings everyone! There's plenty of optimism that baseball will return this year so we've got a lot to discuss. I've got loads of water and some weird healthy mix my wife makes me eat. Let's do this.

can an you please put the following NL prospects in order of preference:
Gore Carlson. Pache. Bohm. Waters. Patino. Howard. Anderson. Hilliard
Dan Harris
12:03
I assume you're talking about this year, so Hilliard>Carlson>Gore>Bohm>Howard>Pache>Waters>Patino>Anderson

I have Austin Meadows, Yordan Alvarez, Yoan Moncada, German Marquez, Michael Kopech, Mike Foltynewicz, and Nate Pearson as potential last round keepers in a 10 team Keep 10 H2H Multi Categories league. Of these 7 which 3 do I keep to fill out my roster.  Already keeping J.Ramirez, T. Turner, P. Alonso, M. Olsen, C. Paddock, L. Castillo, and J. Berrios.
Dan Harris
12:04
Might depend a bit on how long you can keep everyone, but Meadows, Alvarez, Moncada

With young guys like Hiura who are expected to cut their K rate a lot this year, since they have a track record in the minors of doing that, why isn't more attention paid to Austin Riley, who seems to have that same track record?
Dan Harris
12:06
Well first, we don't even know that Riley has a job, right? So there's strike one. And his strikeout rate was SO enormous last year in the majors (36.4%) that he'd need a drastic improvement immediately to have an impact. That said, I think most people are advocating drafting him as a late-round type of guy, and you should for the upside.

5x5 roto league, 23 active, 6 bench, 2 IL.  5 can be kept from year to year.  How many speculative prospects would you draft?
Dan Harris
12:07
Few, maybe 1 or 2, tops. 5 keepers is going to really hamstring you with being able to keep loads of prospects. I have a similar league and I usually like to round out my team with 1 and perhaps hope for the best. But more often than not, I keep established players.

Paddack vs Ohtani is a keeper league question. Weekly moves and ohtani is one player. Keep forever if you want
Dan Harris
12:08
In that case, it's Paddack pretty easily for me. If it were daily, it would be closer.

How does a limited/possibly no season affect the timeline for guys like Wander Franco and Jo Adell? Are these guys off the board in 2020? Do we need to wait till 2022 for their arrivals?
Dan Harris
12:10
Nah, I don't think so. First, it does seem like there will be baseball and likely with expanded rosters, meaning there's a better chance we see Franco and Adell. But even if not, there's just so much manipulation that can be done with service time. With established major leaguers gaining a year of service time regardless, spots should open up on the MLB roster for prospects next year anyway. In other words, I think the impact will be minimal and we'll see them next year at worst.

Who are your favorite late round sleeper pitchers this season? I like Kopech, Alcantara etc
Dan Harris
12:11
I loved Dylan Bundy before it became cool to do so. I think Jordan Montgomery could fill in nicely in New York, and I think Dylan Cease has a chance to be special. Those guys are the ones I've targeted late most often.

Hi Dan. Do you think Josh James will be the Astros’ fifth starter, and if so, what is his value in 5X5 mixed leagues?  Top 200 player?  Top 250?
Dan Harris
12:13
I thought he would if the season started on time, and I feel the same way now. With likely expanded rosters, I think the Astros can get by with other relievers and survive, so putting someone like James, with special talent, in the rotation makes the most sense. I have him ranked 176th overall for now, so that's where I'm at.

Kind of a straightforward question but who is your 1.1 in roto and why? I've had the pick in three different drafts and went different ways each time.

You really can't go wrong with Trout, Acuna, or Yelich. It's Acuna for me just because of the stolen base upside, though Yelich having more time to recover from his knee injury helps. But, in the end, stolen bases are at a premium and we know Acuna will run out of the leadoff spot. So he is my pick.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a monster spring for the Rangers.  Just a fluke or is there an opportunity to get some playing time a 3B if Frazier is moved to 1B.  My thinking in really deep leagues is that he has catcher eligibility and might offer some great value if he gets ABs on the infield.  I have him in a no drop 50 player league as my #4 catcher but if he can resume his hot bat from the spring he will find a spot in my starting line up.  Thoughts on if he is the real deal?
Dan Harris
12:17
I mean, there's no harm in holding him there and sure, there's a chance he finds time. And he did change his stance so there is a narrative behind the improvement. But it's crowded in Texas and not even easy to find Nick Solak time, so it's hard to see him making a major impact this year. He also has five career homers in the major, you know? Not TOO much to go crazy about.

Any chance Nate Pearson and MacKenzie Gore break camp with their respective teams?  Just thinking if there is no minor league season this year their odds may improve.  Gore may be the higher ranked prospect but Pearson looks pretty special.  The Jays have a lot of young players to follow.
Dan Harris
12:18
Yup, think there is a chance. I've speculated so much on what the baseball season will look like and the bottom line is we really have no idea. But I will say that I'm more bullish on prospects than I otherwise would have been, so I'm happy to take a tab on either Pearson or Gore.

What 3 American league and what 3 national league middle relief pitchers do you think will find themselves closing for their team by mid-season (whenever that is)?
Dan Harris
12:21
I honestly think that most bullpens are going to look more like committees this year. But for the NL, Will Smith, Seth Lugo, and Scott Oberg. For the AL, Hunter Harvey (if he doesn't win the job outright, Yoshihisa Hirano, and James Karinchak (eventually)

Has Trent Grisham earned an everyday role in CF for the Padres? Or do you see more of a platoon role? Thanks.
Dan Harris
12:22
I think for the most part, he's got it, and the organization has said as much. I think they want him in center anyway so they'd give him every chance, but I do think he has the talent to hold the job all year.

What was the first fantasy article you ever wrote and do you look back on it and think it was terrible? Or did you hit the ground running?
Dan Harris
12:24
Ha, I haven't read it in many years. But it was on Scooter Gennett (before he became a thing). I believe it was after his hot start in 2016 in Milwaukee and whether it was real. Good call though, I should go back and read it. It was probably very boring and straight, before I started writing in any style. I MUST FIND IT NOW!

If you had one piece of advice to offer to auction players, what would it be?
Dan Harris
12:25
"Prepare" is probably too easy, so I'll say search for value. It's not rocket science, but leaving your auction room with more value than anyone else is kind of the overarching goal in any auction. So, when you're heading into an auction, that's what you need to be thinking about. I have an auction primer each year and I'll be discussing it on our podcast this week.

Who will get the most saves for the Cardinals this year?  Gallegos, Martinez, or Hicks?
cool 1
Dan Harris
12:27
Can I go with none of the above? I think the favorite is Gallegos, so it's probably him. But Helsley is my dark horse. Would not expect many, if any, from Martinez or Hicks.
Jackson
12:27
Thoughts on Ketel Marte this year? My head says no but my heart . . . also says no. What do your heart and head say?
Dan Harris
12:29
Meh, somewhere in between. You ignore the gains he made in his batted ball data last year, but a little tough to just accept than someone with 22 career homers in 1500 plate appearances suddenly pops 32 in 628 plate appearances. I haven't ended up with him much, but not avoiding him. I'd expect regression, but still a very useful player.

12:29
Keeper questions.  Bregman 2rd or Hiura 14rd?  Paddack 16rd or Luzardo 20rd?
Dan Harris
12:30
Hiura for me and uuuuuuuuuuugh. Probably Paddack but it hurts my soul.
Luno
12:30
Oscar Mercado? I can't tell if I'm getting a mid-round steal or wasting a pick.
yawn 1
Dan Harris
12:33
Neither. Like everyone else, Mercado basically saw a massive jump in power last year from his minor-league career. With that hold? With rumors of the baseball going back to the 2017 style, who knows? But Mercado has speed (29.5 Ft/s in sprint speed),s o you can feel confident he will steal bases. But he'll need to hit to stay near the top of the lineup and if he doesn't, his speed may not be enough to justify thinking that a breakout season is on the horizon. So, probably not a steal, but also not a wasted pick.
Philip
12:33
I've been snagging Evan White everywhere I can but I really haven't heard too much buzz about him. Just a wasted roster spot or what?
