Hey everyone! I'm going to take some fantasy baseball (or food) questions for about an hour. Thanks for joining me today and hope I can help you win your leagues!
Let's start with a fun question from Steffen!
Steffen

You are a 5-star recruit. You have offers from every school in the country. Where are you taking your 5 official visits. You cannot choose your favorite team. What would your lists be for football and basketball.
Bobby Sylvester
1:05
Love this one. For football, even some 5-star prospects don't end up starting for Bama, Clemson, LSU, Ohio St. so I'm gonna go play for Mike Leach at Mississippi St.

For basketball, I want statues built of me because I'm going to the NBA no matter what. When you think of Marquette, you think Dwayne Wade. When you think Murray St, it's Ja Morant. I want to make a mid-major a big deal so I'd consider a beautiful city with  great fan base like Fort Collins and Colorado St. but ultimately, I'm choosing SLU, staying home and making my local program a big dog for a year or two.

In baseball, we've got these schools like Pepperdine in Malibu or UC-Santa Barbara in the top 25 so I'm goin to UCSB, folks

Who are your favorite deep sleepers this year? ADP 250+. Thanks.
Bobby Sylvester
1:06
It's Brendan McKay #286 and Rich Hill #391
1:07
Let me also throw in Elieser Hernandez if we want to get super deep. For hitters, Tyler O'Neil and if you want a deep deep one, Isan Diaz

10 Team ESPN 5X5 HtoH league. This league has 4 OF slots & 2 Util Slots. I was thinking of picking up Dylan Carlson off the waiver wire & leaning on dropping Nick Senzel who's on my bench. Would you do it for this shortened season?
Bobby Sylvester
1:08
Carlson is my favorite hitting prospect to stash right now but I wouldn't drop Nick Senzel for him.

10 team Roto league: Round 7: Have Stras—S.Gray—Goldschmidt-Tatis—Pham—K. Bryant. Looking at Darvich—Muncy or L.Roberts? Thoughts?
Bobby Sylvester
1:09
Darvish then Robert the next round. Good luck!

How many games do you think we will have this season if we start up in late May early June?  Not related to fantasy, but if we start the season in AZ with no fans, I would really like to see every player and coach miked.  One of the best parts of the game is the dialogue between players.  Maybe something for MLB to consider?
Bobby Sylvester
1:12
No one wants to try answering this but it's an important question so I'll do my best: I don't think we start until at least July, unfortunately. Regular season goes through October then playoffs in November. Doubleheaders every Saturday with expanded rosters to accommodate for the innings would put us at about 125 regular seasons games. I don't think they do the doubleheaders though so I'll predict 110 games like we had in 1994. Would love to see the players and coaches mic'd up.

Is Puig going to find a 500+ at  bat gig? Is he worth a pick up and hold?
Bobby Sylvester
1:13
He is well worth a pickup and hold. I don't recall ever seeing a player of his caliber just not signed. Someone will sign him and he will start every day. 500+ depends on how many games MLB plays, though

What player and pitcher benefit the most from a shortened season?
Bobby Sylvester
1:15
Player would be someone like Wil Myers who hasn't been durable and plays in a home pitcher's park. Playing every game in Arizona would be great for his statline. Young or injury-prone pitchers are the big winners, though: Jesus Luzardo, Julio Urias, Lance McCullers, James Paxton, Rich Hill, A.J. Puk

please rank for this year only...Gore, kopech, Puk, Pearson, Whitley, Mize and Manning...Thanks
Bobby Sylvester

Puk >> Gore > Pearson > Manning > Kopech > Whitley. All pretty close though

Is there a schedule for the podcasts? I know you said on the football pod that the next one is on Thursday, but what about after that? Also, what about baseball?
Bobby Sylvester
1:19
We plan on recording a baseball podcast every monday for the next few weeks. Football is a little more up in the air for the time being.

AL ONLY depth of position question: Which position are you most concerned about filling going into an Auction or Draft? And which position are you least concerned about?
Bobby Sylvester
1:20
Most concerned is catcher---gotta get Salvador Perez a few rounds early just to be safe. Also 2B--I'd target Jonathan Villar or Rougned Odor......least concerned is outfield---sooooo many values

First year dynasty. 5x5 roto for cash. No innings limit. Gotta roll with Marmol. Thanks for all the baseball content!
Bobby Sylvester

You'll win that league with ease. Be prepared to lose friends for "cheating" :p

I am looking for a deep sleeper SP.  Someone that is not in the top 50 starting pitchers.  Can you recommend 2-3 options and explain why?
Bobby Sylvester
1:24
McCullers is just outside the top 50---elite stuff, added another quality pitch, innings concerns zapped by shortened season

Carlos Martinez -- always solid when in the rotation, healthy shoulder has him as STL #3

Dylan Bundy -- huge upside leaving Baltimore for a pitcher's park in LAA

Chris Archer -- was stellar at the end of the season when he went back to his TB repertoire

Brendan McKay -- best pitcher in the minors last year, Paddack like rookie upside

Garrett Richards -- always dominates when healthy. Now in pitcher's park too

A.J. Puk -- major upside if he makes Oakland's rotation

Elieser Hernandez -- bonkers underlying numbers, great minor league stats and home ballpark

Will Marmol strategy be as effective with a shortened season?
Bobby Sylvester
1:25
Important question and I'm convinced the answer is yes

I am a big fan of the Pocket Rocket strategy. In a 5x5 Roto with 12 teams, 5SP, 2RP, 2P, would you go with top 2 SP's available in first 2 rounds? Thanks.
Bobby Sylvester
1:27
You don't have to, just make sure you get 4 of the top 20 SPs. Something like Bellinger, Harper, Strasburg, Snell, Machado, Glasnow, Semien, Kluber is a killer start IMO
