We are legitimately best friends. Love that group of guys. Better people than they are analysts and that's saying a lot!

Which side of this trade do you like better; Edwin Encarnacion, Lourdes Gurriel and Garrett Richards or Ian Happ, Alex Wood, and Franmil Reyes?
Bobby Sylvester
1:30
Assuming re-draft, 5x5 roto or H2H, I'd prefer the Gurriel side
Tim

Is there upside to drafting Scherzer or Verlander early this year?  Has the hate gone too far for their ages and various injuries?
Bobby Sylvester
1:30
it depends on how early. I'd take Scherzer at the turn and Verlander mid-second once J.D. Martinez is gone

Hi guys. My pitching is stacked but I’m light on power. My last three SP are Mikolas, Archer, and Josh James. Which one should I drop?  I’m leaning Mikolas because of his flexor strain and two PRP injections in four months, as well as James’s strikeout potential and Archer’s second half and new pitching coach. But Mikolas was really good in 2018. Thoughts?
Bobby Sylvester
1:31
I agree 100%. Drop Mikolas

What should we expect from Trey Mancini?  Would you rather have E. Hosmer or Mancini in H2H Cats?
Bobby Sylvester
1:32
This is so tough because of his diagnosis. Apparently he is recovering perfectly but it's hard to say he will be the same, plus playing all games in Arizona would make a big difference opposed to Camden. I prefer Hosmer by a hair at this point

H2H Point league....I drafted DeGrom #1.....then a solid INF (Ramirez, Story & Rizzo)  ....then Paddock, Glasnow, Woodruff, Lamet, Heaney & Gallen  as upside SPs to round out my staff. Do I have enough upside outside of DeGrom to accept a trade DeGrom for Betts to upgrade an outfield that is lower tier 2 and upper tier 3?
Bobby Sylvester
1:32
Yes--gotta do it IMO. Good luck!

It seems Jose Abreu is ranked too low when compared to Rizzo, Goldschmidt and even other CI's like Bryant.  Why?
Bobby Sylvester
1:33
Great question and I agree. Abreu = Rizzo = Bryant but is being drafted a full round or two lower. Good value but I prefer Semien and Glasnow in that range so I'll have no shares

In auction drafts, is there any strategy to land your favorite players when fellow managers know who they are? I.e. A manager running up my bid on Javy Baez and I keep waiting until 1 second left to outbid them making them think they almost got stuck with him, instead of me instantly bidding when the clock starts showing I have no limit/self control.
Bobby Sylvester
1:34
Unfortunately, no. I'd just mirror their bidding tendencies. If they wait for the clock, you do the same. If they bid quick, you bid quick.

What is your advice for someone who wants to be a fantasy analyst someday? Thanks so much and stay safe.
Bobby Sylvester
1:37
Just start doing it. Even if you make no money and have no audience, there is nothing that beats the practice of completing rankings, writing articles, doing a podcast with friends. It doesn't have to sound great, but just get in the practice of doing it. You will improve a ton and eventually have a product worth showcasing to get your foot in the door. Make the show/article that you'd want to read and just have fun--your enthusiasm is contagious

Big fan of you Bobby!  Love your positivity. With the potential changes in baseball, do you feel the advantage(value wise) sways towards hitters in points leagues? Why or why not?
Bobby Sylvester
1:38
I'd say the opposite. With the heat being what it is in Arizona, offensive numbers should be inflated which would make it much easier to find value on waivers. The top pitchers will stand out from the rest of the pack, giving them more value IMO

Choi over the last three years:
vs LHP: .190/.289/.305/.594
vs RHP: .276/.375/.516/.891

Martinez over the last three years:
vs LHP: .323/.401/.570/.971
vs RHP: .288/.349/.426/.775

They are the picture perfect platoon partners. So combined they are a .930 OPS guy or Anthony Rizzo/Freddie Freeman. Why draft Rizzo in the 5th when you can get these two at the end of your drafts and have Rizzo combined if you just pay attention to the probable pitcher for the Rays opponent?

Who do you choose to keep between Story and Rendon if both would be my 2nd round pick?
Bobby Sylvester
1:42
Story >>>> Rendon. Give me the extra 20 stolen bases at a more premium position, please

Bobby: Love your work. In a 12 team roto keeper. $260 auction budget. Would you take $1 Lamet or $2 Schwarber? Keepers are for three years with second year +$5 and final third year at +$10.
Bobby Sylvester
1:43
Thanks! I'd go Lamet and the expert consensus is with me: https://www.fantasypros.com/mlb/draft/kyle-schwarber-dinelson-lamet.ph...

Does one strategy work better for H2H leagues between Bichette, Marmol, and Pocket Rockets?
Bobby Sylvester
1:45
If your league allows for it, always use Marmol. If it doesn't go to Bichette. If your league doesn't allow for that either, go Pocket Rockets. Adjust the category you punt based on where your pick is (Trout or Soto in 1st, punt SB)---Acuna/Yelich/Bellinger, punt Svs)...Cole/Degrom/Scherzer, punt BA

Anything news on Judge, and what round would you consider him
Bobby Sylvester
1:46
No update, unfortunately but this is a lingering, chronic type of injury. I'd prefer Stanton over him. Judge is more likely to miss time and Stanton is the better fantasy player when both are healthy.

Have a 10 team H2H league where we have 3 keepers from year to year. My options this year are Trout for $55, Lindor for $34, Tatis for $10, Yordan for $5, and Semien for $5. What would be your thoughts on the three to keep?
Bobby Sylvester
1:48
Tatis, Yordan and Semien for me. Good luck!

Any chance Rockies’ SPs i.e. Marquez, Gray, get a boost not having to play games in Coors? Rockies’ bats similarly get dinged for the same reason?
Bobby Sylvester
1:48
Great call! Yes, very real chance. Both could be total aces! Jeff Hoffman would be a killer sleeper too

fill in the blank: blank is a hitter that I want 0 shares of even though they are top 6 adp at their position for hitter or top 10 for pitcher. Also, blank is a player I want on all my teams even though they are a hitter outside of top 20 at their position or a pitcher who is outside top 45.
Bobby Sylvester
1:51
I don't want shares of Tatis or Flaherty.

I want all the shares of Starlin Castro, Lourdes Gurriel, Avisail Garcia, Brendan McKay and Rich Hill
