Sent trade offer of my J.T. Realmuto for Jesus Luzardo & Josh Donaldson. Awaiting response. Thoughts? 14 team, mixed Roto. Two catchers.
Bobby Sylvester
1:42
Depends who your other catchers are. I'd lean that you win this trade, though

Hello, thanks for chatting.  Chris Archer looked great last year after ditching the awful two-seam fastball Ray Searage made him throw (18 innings, 27/4 K/BB, 3.00 ERA in August before a shoulder injury shut him down).  I expect lots of strikeouts and an ERA in the high-3's (but few wins on a bad Pirates team).  That said, Mikolas and Happ are free agents in our 12-team mixed league.  Should I cut Archer for one of them?
Bobby Sylvester
1:43
I love taking a flier on Archer for that exact reason and wouldn't drop him for either Mikolas or Happ and it isn't an especially tough decision for me

How many years of middling production from a top prospect does it take for you to call them a bust?
Bobby Sylvester
1:44
It depends on when they are called up and what position they are.

Generally, if a hitter doesn't produce by the time he turns 27, he's a bust

If a pitcher doesn't produce by the time he is 25, he's a bust

Any thoughts on G Canning contributing this year?
Bobby Sylvester
1:45
He will contribute as a solid #4 for the Angels but isn't on my fantasy radar. Enough upside to monitor for streaming versus teams like the Orioles visiting, but besides that, is just a waiver wire speed dial guy in case he starts hot

Max Muncy or Jorge Soler? Rotisserie. Redraft.
Bobby Sylvester
1:46
27 of 43 experts say Soler. I have them one spot apart in my rankings at #56 (Muncy) and #57 (Soler)

Is Logan Gilbert going to be fantasy relevant this year?
Bobby Sylvester
1:47
I don't imagine so. He might get a cup of coffee in September, but more likely, this is a next May kind of call up

Are the MLB players creating a situation where baseball is not played in 2020.  I am thinking of statements from Blake Snell and Bryce Harper.  They do not want to take a pay cut under the current proposal and circumstances.  Do they not realize millions of Americans are currently working for a lot less and risking their lives a great deal more then MLB players everyday?  I love baseball but honestly, if thats their attitude maybe we would all be better without it.

I won't discuss the politics of it all but I'm convinced their statements are just posturing for better financial compensation. Snell and Harper will play the very moment they get the money they are asking for. Take it to the bank.

With a change of scenery can we expect anything different from Nomar Mazara? Thanks
Bobby Sylvester
1:49
I wouldn't say we can or should expect it, but it is entirely possible and I'd even say, more likely than most others his age. This is a former top 10 prospect who is still young enough that I believe we haven't seen the best from him yet

How would you rank these SPs for upside in 2020? Plesac, Kyle Wright, Taijuan Walker, Justus Sheffield. Thanks!
Bobby Sylvester

Wright >>>>>>>>>>>> Sheffield >> Walker

In a 12 team points league, I am keeping 5 hitters plus 2 out of the following 3 pitchers: Zach Wheeler, Kyle Hendricks, or James Paxton.  Which 2 to keep?
Bobby Sylvester
1:50
Paxton > Wheeler > Hendricks. All three close though

I was thinking of attempting to trade for A.J. Puk in mixed Roto league (14 teams). How do you feel about the rookies chances at providing #6 starter or better value if this season is green-lighted?
Bobby Sylvester
1:51
If he makes the rotation, 90% chance. But the odds of him making the rotation are about 50/50. In a 14 teamer, I'd stash him just in case

Please indulge me with your thoughts on my trade in 14-team mixed Roto redraft league. I received OF/DH Jorge Soler KC, SP Mike Minor TEX, and SP Jake Odorizzi MIN. I traded away SP Patrick Corbin WAS & SP Marcus Stroman NYM.  I'm higher on Minor and Odorizzi than most and desired a bopper by sacrificing ace level stats from Corbin. I have deGrom as my #1.
Bobby Sylvester
1:52
A little too steep for me, but I definitely understand why you did it. I'd wager 50% of people would say you won that trade.

Mark Melancon or Hansel Robles.
Bobby Sylvester
1:52
Robles for me. More likely to keep his job

After simply sorting out minor stats(>600 PA, >.290 AVG, >.890 OPS), I found 9 hitters in that category. Excluding top prospects(W Franco, G Lux, L Robert, J-Rod), the remaining are such as; Randy Arozarena, Jake Fraley, Austin Allen, Seth Beer, Alejandro Kirk. Is there  any 'hidden gem'?
Bobby Sylvester
1:53
If the NL adopts the DH, Beer has a chance to MASH for the D-Backs. Fraley, as I mentioned earlier, has a shot of becoming this year's Adam Eaton-type breakout and Randy A is an MLB-ready hitter but it would take several injuries ahead of him to land him in the every day lineup. If it happens, think Avisail Garcia

I have Kolten Wong at MI and Amed Rosario NYM as my SS. Muncy is my second sacker. I’m expecting good things and plenty of stolen bases between the two speedsters. What’s your position on Wong & Rosario?
Bobby Sylvester
1:55
Wong was great last year and is a decent value at ADP, but I prefer Rosario by quite a bit. His ADP is down at 170 but the expert consensus has him all the way up at 132 and I've got him even higher. It's tough to find those steals in round 14 and the power should continue coming along too
Xander
1:55
Better bench option. Roto. Corbin Burnes MIL or Pablo Lopez MIA?
Bobby Sylvester
1:55
Lopez by a hair but I say Daniel Norris and Elieser Hernandez >>>> both ;)
Brian
1:55
Drafted Puig with my last pick. Any news on him signing and is this someone to hold onto or is it just taking up a roster spot? Do you foresee him producing if/when he signs?
Bobby Sylvester
1:56
Great call, Brian. Keep him into the middle of spring training 2.0 and I'd wager he signs by then. If not, you can cut him for a Corey Dickerson type, no problem
Larry in Nashville
1:56
Wow, no dice on Hader or Yates even if they're available 50 after their ADP?  Why THAT much hate?
Bobby Sylvester
1:57
Because closers are extremely volatile (see Edwin Diaz and Craig Kimbrel last season). You can always pick up saves off the waiver wire and grab this year's version of Liam Hendricks (RP #2 last year!) or Brandon Workman (#6)

there is a pitcher on the Red Sox named Jose Ramirez. I didn’t know that so when he was called in our auction league before the Indians one, I placed a bid. I won the auction, and want a refund. The commish was the one who put him up for auction and doesn't want to re-do it. What should we do?
Bobby Sylvester
1:58
wooooof that's tough but unfortunately, that's a mistake you've got to look out for. Crummy move by the commish but don't believe there is anything you can do, Miles
Alright, guys. That's all the questions so I'll talk to you next time! Thanks for joining me today!
