What's up, everyone? Let me tell you something. Once Hard Knocks came on, well, for me, football season finally felt like it's here. Let's talk some fantasy.

Hi Dan, I'm going to be playing in a 8-person full PPR league. In round 2 after picking a RB in round 1, would you prefer a second high performing RB like Kenyan Drake or a high end receiver such as Julio Jones? I often have found myself picking up Kelce/Kittle in round 3 either way
Dan Harris
1:01
Six of one, half a dozen of the other. In a really shallow league, I lean generally toward trying to get elite at each position best I can, but Drake, to me, legitimately has almost top-5 upside if things break right. So, I'd probably take Drake, but you can't go wrong.

Full PPR league, I have drafted Matt Stafford as like him long term but not confident in his first game vs Chicago, would you stream Tyrod (@ Cin) instead?
Dan Harris
1:03
Nah, let's not go that far. First, I think Stafford is the type of guy you can probably stick in your lineup long-term, week-in, week-out, if you decide to draft him. I don't think you need to stream - he's just over the line. But, if you do, someone better than Tyrod Taylor from a fantasy perspective is what I'd need. I have Stafford currently ranked 15th for Week 1, Tyrod a good deal behind.

10-team, 0.5ppr, keeper league.  One (1) keeper per team, keeper counts as a 1st Rd Pick.  My keeper: CMC; other keepers: Zeke, Saquon, Michael Thomas.  I have my choice of draft position.  My gut tells me to take the turn at 8 or 9 to couple CMC with Kenyan Drake and then look at a top TE or WR in Round 3.  What pick number would you choose and what strategy would you implement?
Dan Harris
1:05
So, first, yup, I'm fine with that. I generally like picking close to the back turn in half-PPR, 12-team leagues this year, so that's essentially where you're looking at. As always, I would play jazz in any draft and see what falls, but if you can start with CMC, Drake, top WR or TE, yeah, I'd absolutely be going in planning to go there if I could.
Chris

In a 12 team PPR league, would you rather keep Lamar in the 5th round or Miles Sanders in the 5th round?
Dan Harris
1:05
I have Sanders ranked significantly higher in PPR, so, certainly him for me given that the cost is the same.

Format: 12 team (2 flex) 8 bench spots. Would you generally say target top RBs early and look value at receiver, QB, TE later? Obviously, not always the case. Take value where it falls.
Dan Harris
1:06
Yeah, you've got it right, Sean. We did a PPR mock draft on the pod earlier this week and I said, "Let me see what happens when I try to take Michael Thomas at 4 and then, just for fun, add in Kittle." Spoiler alert - it doesn't end well. Load up on RBs early, so much value at every other position.

Hey Dan thanks for taking the time! I play in Non-PPR and was just wondering which players in the top 50 benefit the most and fall the most when shifting from PPR/Half to Non-PPR.
Dan Harris
1:09
Hey, Dave. So, they're pretty obvious, but a player like Derrick Henry moves up at least a few spots, and Alvin Kamara and Austin Ekeler obviously move down.  It's really a reshuffling of the running back. Nick Chubb up, Kareem Hunt down as we move into standard. Tarik Cohen James White up in PPR, down a bit in half, totally out of consideration essentially in standard (outside the top 50, obviously, but still).
Dan
1:09
Say you’re drafting 5th in 10 team .5 ppr. Thinking M. Thomas may go at 4. Do you go with Kamara, Cook or reach for CEH or K Drake?
Dan Harris
1:10
My half-PPR rankings go Cook 4, Kamara 5, CEH 8, Drake 11. So, Cook!

Why does no one seem to talk about the massive workload for McCaffrey last year increasing his injury risk nor the fact that the Panthers offence has been terrible since they started feeding him so many touches two seasons ago?
Dan Harris
1:12
I mean, you can factor in injury risk as much as you want. You can factor in the offense as much as you want. Dude outscored the next closest RB by more than 120 points in half PPR. 120!!!! You can't not take him first, right? There can't be a debate here, regardless of any factor.

10 Team .5ppr Just traded for another first rounder in a redraft league. I have two 1sts and two 4ths no 2nd or 3rd rounder now. Assuming I take Saquon at #2 overall. Who should I take at #7 if Davante CEH Mixon Henry are available? I'm really high on CEH.
Dan Harris
1:13
Ok, so, I have it Henry-Mixon-CEH as 6-8 in my rankings. But the difference is super small, so you want CEH, you take CEH. I have zero issues with it. I would go Henry, personally, but especially with Saquon already, you want to go for the massive upside of CEH, cool by me.

What is the ideal number of league winning backup RBs to roster?  I felt like I missed out on early season breakouts last year because my benches were clogged with players Darwin Thompson,  Justice Hill, Penny, Pollard, etc.
Dan Harris
1:15
There's no "ideal" number or anything. But yeah, especially with the health pandemic going on, backup RBs who could be league-winners if they got the opportunity are the right play. As many as you can. Pollard. Mattison. Edmonds. Just stock your bench full of those guys. And they don't need to be handcuffs for your roster. Frankly, I'd almost rather they weren't.
Capped

Thoughts on drafting RBs that are startable and will likely need during the season but whose upside is capped at an RB2(Cohen, Howard, White, Michel,Hines, AP, Coleman)  vs league winners who you cannot start unless of an injury or major role change (Linsday, ,Dobbins, Latavis Murray, Pollard, Mattison )
Dan Harris
1:16
Depends on how your draft unfolds. You can start guys like Cohen, Howard, or White if need be, so they might be viable Flex plays. If you can fill out your Flex with a solid WR or other RB, then I instantly turn to those who can make a difference with an injury to someone in front of them.

Hi Dan! I am in a 0.5 PPR, 3 Keeper League. I am trying to choose my keepers. I can choose any 3 of the following players without penalty:

  • Saquon Barkley,
  • Derrick Henry,
  • Nick Chubb,
  • Miles Sanders,
  • Austin Ekeler,
  • DeAndre Hopkins, or
  • Lamar Jackson

I am having a very hard time deciding and I need to revenge win this year as I lost my championship last year to the commissioner by 0.16pt! I am leaving towards Saquon and Henry but that third spot can go anyway...
Dan Harris
1:18
Phew. Well, Saquon and Henry, for sure. Chubb is highest on my board there, so probably him, but I admit it's hard not take Lamar there (and to be clear, he's way lower on my overall rankings - just with that setup). Think I'd still go all RB there, unless the WR pool is significantly drained with keepers, then I'd probably just pivot to Hopkins. Love Jackson but can't justify it.

Hey Dan, you mentioned on the podcast the other day about some decent kicking sleeper options. Given in most home leagues, people will reach on Butker, Tucker, Lutz, Greg the leg etc, who would you scoop up late? Koo in that powerful Falcons offence? Anyone else you like with your last pick?
Dan Harris
1:19
I never realized this secret society of people who were desperate to say it's ok to draft kickers. To be clear, I think getting value from kickers is much more on a week-to-week projection basis. You don't even need to take a kicker in your draft.  Definitely, Koo, though. I like Zane Gonzalez, too.

Hey Dan, excited to have you involved more with Fantasy Pros podcasts.Hopefully not too many Woody jokes by Tags ha. I'm finding it hard to rank these RBs in full PPR. How would you rank CEH, Mixon, Drake, Sanders, Ekeler, Jacobs? Many thanks.
Dan Harris
1:21
Tags has leaned into the Woody thing. Public, private, whatever. I hate so much about the things he chooses to be. Full PPR I have it Mixon/Drake/Ekeler/CEH/Sanders/Jacobs.  And, I'll stress this again, there's so little difference in my projections. We're talking like 15 points difference over a full season among the top 5. So, you're not wrong to be struggling. And, I don't think you can go wrong.
James
1:22
Kareem Hunt or Ronald Jones in a 0.5 PPR? I find myself routinely between the two in mock drafts.
Dan Harris
1:22
Jones 28th, Hunt 29th in 0.5 PPR. So, I'd personally go Jones. I'm starting to buy into the hype.
James
1:22
Marlon Mack or Latavius Murray in a 0.5 PPR? Not sure how much I should read into the report of Mack earning the right to be the starter.
Dan Harris
1:23
Yeah, the Colts' situation has been a bit of a conundrum for me. I've always thought Mack would factor in more than most, but have just been finding it hard to deny Taylor's talent and the feeling like he will win that backfield over quickly. I still have Murray higher, personally. But the gap is closing.

12 team PPR keeper league. My keepers are Saquon, Kamara, & Ridley. CEH is the likely #1 pick in our league. I have the 3rd pick overall. What player would you draft if Allen Robinson, D.J. Moore, and Josh Jacobs are available at my pick. Thanks!
Dan Harris
1:25
Still Jacobs for me. I have no problem locking up a flex spot with someone of Jacobs' talent. But if you do prefer WR, then Robinson over Moore.
Kyle
1:25
Full PPR.  I am keeping Chubb in Rnd 10.  I can keep either Kareem Hunt in Rnd 9 or Devin Singletary in Rnd 5.  They move up 3 spots each season.  Leaning Hunt but that would leave me with both Browns backs.  I’d be hoping for Hunt to sign elsewhere in the offseason.  Thanks
Dan Harris
1:27
Yeah, totally get it. But the value is too good for Hunt there. You'll likely be able to start both backs in full PPR anyway, and Hunt also has the benefit of being a high-end handcuff. Can't pass that up with the four-round difference.
Ron
1:27
I am in a 14 team Standard Yahoo Fantasy League.. I got 6th pick.. would you take Michael Thomas if CMC, Barkley, Zeke, Cook, Derrick Henry are gone?
Dan Harris
1:28
Nah, I'd go Kamara. In a 14-teamer, I really don't want to start with a WR that early if I can help it.
Eric
1:29
Hey Dan. Keeper question. 12 teamer .5 ppr. Keep Josh Jacobs at 2.8, or Kittle in the 14th? For what it's worth, no other TE's will be kept. I'm leaning towards JJ.
