In a shallow league, yes.

How does using OPS instead of AVG/OBP change league dynamics? For instance, you can typically find cheap AVG or OBP hitters, but it’s tough to find a good OPS bat on waivers. Would you recommend allocating a greater percentage of auction budget toward hitters and load up on elite bats, then go somewhere between LIMA and Larry Labadini Plan for pitching? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:56
Yes, I'd shift some resources as you suggest. Note that the elite power hitters values should go up, as you're now counting power via OPS, HR, RBI (and R to a smaller extent).

Hi, Brent. Luis Patino! Is it possible he can become Snell 2.0?
Brent Hershey
12:57
Big Patiño fan, esp with the trade. Possible, but not sure about this year. Likely a mid-season call=up and they'll probably ease him in.

Dylan Carlson's ADP continues to skyrocket this year and is around the early/mid 100s. Is that too high in 5x5 roto (OBP) when Yaz and Santander are in that range as well?
Brent Hershey
12:58
Yes. Carlson will likely give you speed the others don't, but factor in the lack of track record, and you're prob better off with one of the other two.

Thoughts on E. Hernandez for this year? Seems like a good option despite being the Marlins SP (Lopez, Alcantara, Sixto) getting the least amount of attention by drafters.
Brent Hershey

Less ceiling than the others, but a sneaky play where he's going in drafts I think. Interested.

12 team AL-only 5X5 keeper league; 10 keepers per team.  Inflation projects to be very high (35-40%) this year for a number of reasons.  I have a strong keeper list but I am not keeping a closer.  Curious what your approach to saves would be given I will need to significantly overpay for one of the available guys (Chapman, Yates, Rosenthal, Iglesias) if I want to secure some of the category from the outset.  My instinct is to pay for one of them but I am willing to be talked out of it if you see another path.  Thanks.

I'd give yourself some extra budget for this; set limits for each guy, but also be willing to pivot if they they skyrocket. Knowing your league dynamics is best. Likely are lots of strong setup guys to target if you miss out of these 4; as well as others that will emerge. Good luck.

Tatis for $53, Trea Turner for $45 or Trevor Story for $38? 5x5 Roto.
Brent Hershey

Whew ... probably Turner, given the other options. Story next.

I have a feeling Kyle Tucker is about to really break out, what are your thoughts regarding him? Can he go 25/25?
Brent Hershey
1:03
Yes, think both are possible -- breakout could be coming, and it could look like that (if not higher)

With the news that the ball may be "deadened" this season, I am weary of spending a 1st round pick on Trea Turner. Do you think he can still hit 20ish homers and is worth that type of investment?
Brent Hershey
1:04
Yes, think 20ish homers in his reach, and he SB value is huge. Think he's still worth a first round pick.

Nick Senzel finally break out in 2021? His skills looked good, albeit in a short season last year.
Brent Hershey

If healthy, yes. Big caveat, but skills say he's ready for that next step

Hi Brent, a lot of discussion in my league (5x5 MLB) about implementing minimum innings pitched for SP. Will there be enough 150IP by SP in MLB? Or is the usual 900 innings floor too high for 9 pitchers on a roster with some reserves?
Brent Hershey
1:05
I think if you have enough reserves, 900 will be fine. BUT .. you'll likely have to keep an eye/manage it differently than other years.

Chances Brendan Rodgers can become the player people thought of when a prospect or have you seen enough to know that won't happen?
Brent Hershey

Still up in the air for me ... wasn't as big a fan as some when he was a prospect, and now injury dings him again. COL's crazy young player history also puts me off a bit. Still not quite on board.

10-team competitive keeper league going on 30+ years in standard 5x5 rotisserie league with snake draft. I pick 7th in 1st round this year. Last keeper, I'm trying to decide between keeping Pablo Lopez or Tommy Pham or Ramon Lauriano. I know my team weakness is currently HRs & SBs but thinking about cornering stronger starting pitching (already keeping Giolito & Maeda). Thoughts about who to keep?
Brent Hershey

Close, but push/shove, I'd go to war with those three starters.
