Good Monday, chatters! Can tell we've turned a corner in prep, as the pre-game queue is bursting! I'll get to as many as I can; remember that brief details on league size, categories, etc, help out a ton in getting your Q answered. This might be a lightning round hour; we'll see!

Rank 'em for this year:  G. Williams, Bryce Miller, T. Bibee.
Brent Hershey
12:03
Love this pocket for SP. I go Bibee, Williams, Miller

HQ projection for my league settings have E. Fedde at $8.21. No player box write up. Can you give give some insight into Fedde projection and any personal opinion? Also any luck with FanTrax on LeagueSync? Thank you and love HQ!
Brent Hershey
12:05
Yeah, missed the book because of timing. I'm intrigued due to a pitch mix change overseas that correlated with his success. Team context is not good, but willing to take a shot as my SP4 or SP5. Will pitch and start, that's for sure.

Good day...I was a big, big fan of Aaron Ashby prior to his injury...does he now have a lower ceiling?  Left handed ground ball artists don't grow on trees...
Brent Hershey
12:06
For me, yes, b/c shoulder injuries are rough. I'm not out, but he's not a target until I'm sure he's injury free.

I’m in a 6x6 OBP dynasty league: you wouldn’t hold on to Siri would you? He decimated my OBP last year but he’s listed in today’s LIMA article on hitters….. I have to choose between him and Henry Davis for that final roster spot and I figure the catcher eligibility might give Davis the edge. Or do I let both go?
Brent Hershey
12:07
Would not hold Siri in your case. Def some differing opinions on him; I've been wondering if our PT% needs to be adjusted down a bit. Would prefer Davis, yes.

With unsigned players now missing spring training games who is harmed more the hitter or the pitcher?
Brent Hershey
12:09
I'd say hitters, slightly -- b/c nothing like facing game-level pitching. BUT .... obv pitchers have to have a longer ramp-up and are soon going to miss being able to go 5 innings in the Opening Week. Hitters still slightly harmed more IMO.

Who are some AL prospects that get a big boost in OBP leagues?
Brent Hershey
12:12
Evan Carter and Colt Keith both have repeated double-digit walk rates in the minors. I'd use that as a proxy for OBP help.

Hello Brent,
Really enjoy your chat & BBHQ.
10 team, NL only, 5x5 roto (OBP instead of AVG, K-BB), (1 catcher, 10 pitchers), keeper (10 max), auction. League has been playing for 35 years.
We can draft 2 minor leaguers each year (does not count against salary cap) with max of 3 kept per year.
Who do you think the top 3 NL minor league players for power are this year?
Read BBHQ everyday and depend on it to help me compete in a very competitive league.
Brent Hershey
12:14
James Wood, Michael Busch, Jackson Chourio

Is the ceiling still the same for Daniel Espino? Assuming all goes well, what is his timeline looking like? Does he come up as a starter still?
Brent Hershey
12:17
Feel like the ceiling is still about as high, but risk factor keeps increasing. Would not expect him in the majors this year; sounds like mid- to late-season getting back on the mound in the minors. A talent like this, they'll continue to push as a SP. But shoulders, man ... rough.

Thank you, as always, for the great content.   What are your thoughts on the BOS OF in deeper leagues?  In particular, are either of the kids, W. Abreu or C. Rafaela, worth keeping at $10 in either 15-team mixed or 12-team AL-Only formats ($260 budget, 4x4 Roto)?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Probably not in a 15-mixer; but should consider both in AL-only. Wait as long as you can to decide and try to figure out if either/any will make roster and/or start. If you have to make an early call, I'd probably slightly lean Abreu at this point, but subject to change big-time depending on spring developments.

I've had great success targeting starting pitchers by focusing on K%(25), K%-BB%(18), and HR/9(1.0). Not so good with hitters. What are the top 3 hitter stats and required values I should focus on?
Brent Hershey
12:21
Dunno of these are the tops, but
contact rate > 75%
max exit velocity > 110 mph
BB/K ratio of .80 or better (1.00—more walks than Ks—is outstanding.

With Spencer Jones as one of my minor leaguers in a dynasty league is it too soon to walk up to my league mates and act like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting going: you like apples? How about them apples?  I took a lot of shit for grabbing him with one of my 6 spots last season.
Brent Hershey
12:22
Yeah, 2 spring games, prob a bit too soon. But wow what a start.

12:23
Good morning Brent I have a couple Long-Term player questions. Both my AL and NL leagues are 10 team dynasty leagues with a $260 salary. Who would be worth long-terming? Each player is currently $2 and would go to $17 which he would remain at for 3 years. The platers are Riley Greene ($2) O Neal Cruz ($2 but I do have Jordan Lawler and Jackson Merrill in my minors) Camilo Doval and Braxton Garrett.  As Always-Thanks for your input! Greg
Brent Hershey
12:23
Like Greene and Doval the best. Might consider Garrett -- but seems like he's more of a mid-rotation anchor-ish guy than a SP1/2 stud. I'd prob wait Cruz b/c of those kid shortstops.

Is it ok to greet someone with “Top of the Morning” on the last days of Feb? My 2nd question. 4x4 15T mixed Auction League. Inflation high at near 20%, with many speculated prospects now on rosters and cheap. All purchased 2nd half of ‘23, and now are keepers. Thinking about keeping 2 of 3 or 3-3 of the following, so I don’t have to chase stolen bases. I have keepers with decent power. They are Doyle $10; Rojas of Phillies for $5, Turang also for $5. Side bar, I don’t have to chase either SP or Saves, my keepers for pitching are very strong. What would you do with 3 mentioned.
Brent Hershey
12:25
Would not consider Doyle at that price. Rojas and Turang are worth a shot for sure. Good prices for dreaming on SBs.

Brent 4x4 Al only keeper league. can i have your top 3 dynasty(AL) ML prospects under the radar that you think others may not be 'on'to skyrocket in next 2 years but you just have that "feeling???: Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:29
Tricky w/o knowing your league and how deep they go. Still,
Samuel Basallo, C BAL
Colt Emerson, SS SEA

Which Boston CF prospect is best long-term? Offered both young CF's for Colt Keith. My answer has been "no".  Right move or should I jump?  OBA dynasty.
Brent Hershey
12:30
With ya; I'd hold Keith.

12:32
Your thoughts on Henry Davis? I have him at $8 but won't keep at that price. I want him for $1 and then move him to catcher. But the pirates signed Grandal. I don't know what they think of Davis...
Brent Hershey
12:32
Not sure you'll get him back at $1, but also agree that $8 is too much to keep. I don't think Grandal impedes Davis' CA playing time, but the unknown is Endy Rodriguez next year when he gets back. But ... I don't think you plan for that now; go in and target Davis in the $2-4 range and let it play out. Polished college hitter when he came out.

I know it's early, but is Ryne Nelson's 5K/2IP anything to get a little excited about? Megill's 3K?
Brent Hershey
12:34
Nope, too early. Worth noting and keeping an eye on, but esp in Nelson's case, need a bunch more to move him up my draft board. At least Megill has had some success in the past and now an opening it seems.

12:36
Are you a believer in CJ Abrams for this season? Is he worth a 4th round pick, in a 12 team mixed, standard 5x5?
Brent Hershey
12:36
I am, as I think there's more pop and hitting ability in the stick. Big pedigree guy and the hit tool was a big part of it. Still so young, and being on the Nats, they will just pencil him in at leadoff and let him go. Worst case is a bunch of SB which you can work around.
Andy
12:41
Caminero or Yamamoto in OBA, QS dynasty?  What is Caminero's ultimate position?
Brent Hershey
12:41
To be clear; answering this as Junior Caminerio ...and I think that's who I prefer (slightly) Think JC is going to be a 3B monster with BA and big-time power. Came away very impressed when saw him in person at the Futures Game. Think he could well be in the Austin Riley-range of outcomes in a few years. Which is not to knock Yamamoto, who couldn't be in a better spot of course, and whose arsenal and workload seems perfectly fit for MLB. But if it's close at at the top of the scale like the two, I'll take the hitter almost every time.

Hi Brent! 12 team keeper league, W Buehler is a 21st rounder for 2024 & 2025. I'm not liking that he's not pitching in Spring Training at all - any idea of what the expect for 2024? Is he more valuable as a pre-draft trade chip vs. 2024 SP? Thanks!
