The Escapists was my totem as I was self-publishing my first comic. Whenever I had doubts I would reread it and it centered me and got me through.

@BKV I took a Covid-era vacation up the northern Georgia mountains, and brought a lot of books with me. I also brought all the Paper Girls TPBs. I thought I would just read an issue or two, and focus more on some other books I brought… nope. Read all of Paper Girls in the trip and didn’t tough another book. Haha

Before St. Mark's Comics ended, every new reader that walked in asking for what to try out would always be handed Saga Vol. 1 if it was in stock.  I've given it to new readers several times.  Great gateway drug in to comics!

For years I tried to get my wife into comics. The one that finally did the trick: Y:TLMN
And then onto all the classics (SANDMAN, WATCHMEN, etc)

Thanks, all! And yeah, I've been quietly collecting art since I broke into comics in '97, but only truly got into this wonderful, horrible addiction during the pandemic, with Felix as the best Sherpa a collector could hope to find.
