Thanks Carl!
5:17
@Everyone...we have a backlog of questions...I may have to limit questions per poster...but we will try to get to them all!
Absurd13
5:17
@Paul what red sumi ink did you use for that amazing Kaneda piece you did on the bike?
pulphope
5:17
I use exclusively Yasutomo sumi black (non-soluable) and Koh-I-Noor black and white.
Casey Parsons
5:17
I know you like to work large, curious about your favourite art supplies, papers, inks - i’m an artist so materials and schedules fascinate me!
Felix Lu
5:18
@Casey, hope that answers part of your question, at least!
Ron Lim
5:18
@Paul, any dream assignments you'd like to work on... DC, Marvel, indy, whatever?
JasonK
5:19
Paul - dream character to work on that you haven't worked on before?
pulphope
5:19
I'd love to do a big Marvel book. I've tried to get X-Men, I am a Kirby man. Frankly, I also love Nexus by Steve Rude.
Felix Lu
5:19
NEXUS!!
Carl Choi
5:19
@paul *bow*
Dan T
5:19
@Carl Choi - Good luck in ATL.  It's the wild west down there lately, as I noted during Dragon Con.
Mike Cichy
5:19
Yes Nexus
Casey Parsons
5:19
Haha thanks Felix, I was beaten to it!
Doug
5:19
Nexus!
5:20
What it is
Francis
5:20
Don't tell Felix that lol. All the art will be sold before its even produced lol
Dan T
5:20
Yes.  Marvel needs to get you on X-Men!
Tim J
5:20
Paul, I saw a tweet from Adam Hughes today and he said he thinks we are in a golden age of comic book art.  Thoughts?  Congrats to you and Felix today as well.
Felix Lu
5:21
@Tim J...I believe it. I've been reading comics for over 40 years. IMO, average level of talent is the highest I've ever seen. We are very lucky to be witnessing this. And thanks!
pulphope
5:22
@TimJ it's always a golden age, because we have brilliant ideas and as a group, we share imagination. There's a lovely quote from Jung I think about, "the superhero emerges when people's consciousness concentrates." We just need to control and guide our ideas.
Ron Lim
5:23
Nexus! Rude is another artist I keep getting commissions by.
Shahin
5:23
Nexus...so good. What a drop today. So many gems!
John S
5:23
Hey Everyone! Congrats on the sellout! Question for @pulphope - related to the big 2 question. Wednesday Comics was such a unique project.  Any plans to make any of those Adam Strange pages for sale?
Felix Lu
5:23
@John S...sorry, we sold those pages a while back! You can check out scans on the site...SPECTACULAR art!
Francis
5:23
Golden age, as long as it involves the human hand on paper.
Tim J
5:23
Thanks guys!  My bank account agrees with you all, lol.
Ron Lim
5:23
@Felix, I'm loving the styles and wider range of talent, but I don't feel like we have a Byrne, Perez or Miller of today.
Absurd13
5:24
@pulphope any tips for drawing women? You draw the most beautiful and often sexy women.
pulphope
5:24
@absurd13 just look at life. Observe people and things and draw. I learned how to draw and paint from a man who told me to learn how to SEE. All the formalistic rules of 2D art apply to comics, my friend.
John S
5:24
Ahhh, I had no idea. Thanks
Felix Lu
5:26
@Ron...we may not have any have singular geniuses like Alan Moore or Frank Miller...but I do believe we have artists who are as talented as Byrne and Perez. They may not have a similar impact, but that's because landscape has changed. No reflection of their talent.
Absurd13
5:26
@pulphope thank you sir.
Casey Parsons
5:26
Love your work Paul, been a fan since the early days and one day hope to be lucky enough to get some original art! Will you be at nycc this october?
Absurd13
5:26
@pulphope any shows planed this year?
Felix Lu
5:26
@Casey, @Absurd 13...no NYCC or any shows planned with Paul for 2021.
Rod
5:26
@pulphope. It was fantastic to see your Dune sketches.   I started this summer trying to get a Dune commission collection started.
Jim
5:26
@ron i would recommend checking out the comics published by peow studio, strangers fanzine, freak comics....the byrne, perez or miller of today is honing their skills in the small press as we speak
so cool to hear about the new project. i'd also be curious to hear - what was the last comic you read that made you excited to jump back into making comics?
pulphope
5:27
@jim good question.... I think the Felix Lu team are the most inspiring artists to me. We meet up once in awhile and talk shop Outside of that, I look at manga. I also love Lee Bermejo (although our styles are totally different) and Raf Grampa.
