Yeah I'd rather try to consolidate some of the farm depth and make a run at Santander or Kepler than sign one of the remaining outfielders
3:27
Soto's the only of the three relievers you named I think has more than like a 25% chance of getting traded. Royals probably should trade Barlow and could get a major return I think, but there's no indication they're trying to do that
That's Detroit's Gregory Soto, to be clear
Bill
3:27
Braves starting LF and SS will  be ?
Anthony Franco
3:28
On Opening Day, think it's probably Eddie Rosario and Orlando Arcia
3:29
For the bulk of the season, I'll switch to Grissom at shortstop
Jeremy
3:29
do you see the jays trading Espinal for a back end RP? romano swanson garcia is solid, but one more arm could put them over the top
Anthony Franco
3:29
I think Espinal would return more of a fine middle innings type than a true back-end guy
3:30
Would still be a case for them to make that kind of deal given their infield depth, particularly if they're confident Addison Barger can play some kind of role this year
Anthony Fan
3:30
I know Cohen likes to spend, but if the Correa deal goes through is he less likely to go after Ohtani?
Anthony Franco
3:31
I'm past the point of counting Cohen out on anything. I don't think the Mets would've gone hard for Correa if they felt it'd be detrimental to their chances of landing Ohtani next winter
Jarren Duran
3:31
Will the Red Sox keep me on the roster or should I get a moving van ready to go
Anthony Franco
3:32
I lean towards a trade there, at least by the deadline if he's not playing a key role by then. Paying Yoshida $95MM to be the primary left fielder felt like a pretty strong indicator they're done assuming Duran's getting to where they'd hoped
Bubba Thompson
3:33
what will be my roll in Texas next year?   Will I have a chance to get my 100 SB"s
Anthony Franco
3:33
I can't see him coming anywhere close to triple digits. Don't think he'll play regularly and even if he did, doubt he'd reach base frequently enough to run at that level
Rangers13
3:34
What would Tigers want for Meadows and Soto? Would Duran, White or Winn and Zavala get it done?
Anthony Franco
3:35
White and Winn are different caliber prospects at this point with Winn getting blown up in Triple-A
3:36
If Texas offered Owen White, Ezequiel Durán and Aaron Zavala for Meadows and Soto, Detroit probably takes it
Sub in Cole Winn for White and I doubt it

IF the Cubs were the "other" team in on Carlos and his leg, would it elevate them over the Brewers? Cards? With that in mind what would a potential return for Madrigal and Wisdom look like?
Anthony Franco
3:37
Yeah if the Cubs signed Correa (I very much don't expect them to), they'd jump the Brewers for me. Still would lean towards St. Louis at the top of the division but it's obviously far closer
Neither Madrigal nor Wisdom has much trade value. They could find a taker for either but wouldn't get anything noteworthy back
Peter
3:38
What do you think of NYY trading IKF back to MIN, which would pay his $6MM salary in exchange for a mid level prospect? With the money saved, NYY signs David Peralta to play LF. Thanks
Anthony Franco
3:39
Yeah there's merit to that if Correa doesn't go back there. Kind of depends on how Minnesota feels about IKF as a defender at shortstop, but that they traded for him once suggests they probably like him well enough

What's the word with Bauer and the Dodgers? Isn't today the deadline for a decision?
Old_chief_rain_in_the_ninth
3:39
The Dodgers release  Bauer at XXXX PM today?
Anthony Franco
3:39
Dodgers have to make a final call on Bauer today, yes. All public indications thus far have been that they're leaning towards releasing him

Did any one else notice that Dever's contract does not have a no trade clause so if things get too bad ib Boston then maybe ?? Which one of the Braves extended young players is the first to want to renegotiate their contract based on recent signings ??
Anthony Franco
3:40
They're not going to trade him within a year or two of signing an extension, and he'd lock in full no-trade rights once he gets to 10 years of MLB service during the 2027 season
3:41
Players with ten years of service, the last five of which have been with one team, get automatic no-trade protection in the CBA
So there's a pretty tight window where dealing Devers against his wishes might make sense, basically between 2025-26
3:42
Whether Boston would do that obviously depends both on how he's playing and where the team is at competitively, but I don't think they're going into the contract with the intention of trading him

Happy Friday! The Jays should match up with the Orioles to get Anthony Santander using primarily prospects or will it be one of Adam Duvall, Andrew McCutchen, David Peralta or AJ Pollock? and please a fifth starter.... thoughts
Anthony Franco
3:43
Not sure I see the room for Santander. Varsho, Kiermiaer, Springer is a good outfield and both the catchers are good enough hitters to DH on days when they're not behind the plate
3:44
Could use another depth type considering Kiermaier's and Springer's injury histories, but I think that's likelier to be a low-cost free agent like bringing back Jackie Bradley
3:45
Agree on the need for a fifth starter. They shouldn't enter the season with Kikiuchi or White penciled into the rotation
Chuck Murphy
3:45
Happ for Fried. Then the Cubs extend Fried and the Braves extend Happ? Seems to address each teams wants and as Happ will be cheaper to extend, it might work in ATL.
Anthony Franco
3:45
Doesn't make sense for Atlanta
Fried's better and controllable for an extra season
3:46
I see your point about the Happ extension being cheaper, but that's overthinking it for a team that wants to win immediately
