Good afternoon, hope all is well!

Exciting time on the baseball calendar, let's get rolling

That's such a great result for talent and tenacity over payroll. Let keep all appendages crossed that the momentum doesn't get lost with a lockout that affects 2027! Were the Dodgers simply outplayed, was it injuries at the wrong time of is it just baseball over 4 games?

Should Jesus Made be the opening day starter at 3rd in 2027?

PSYCH WHO CARES ABOUT 2027 THE BREWERS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anthony Franco
3:02
Handily outplayed. This Brewers team is just really good
3:03
Obviously the Dodgers would've put forth a better showing if Ohtani were fully healthy but Milwaukee was the better team all year and has a lot more juice top to bottom in the lineup -- plus the developments of Misiorowski and Henderson -- than they did in 2025

What does a Freddy Peralta’s next contract look like? How much will the next couple days or weeks impact the years and AAV compared to his Mets numbers
Is Michael King’s contract a decent comp for Freddy Peralta this winter?  3/75 with opt outs after each year?
Anthony Franco
3:04
I think he'd beat 3/75 if he wanted the opt out route -- probably mid-high 80s -- but it seemed like he prioritized long-term security with the Mets and I think he's back to having five or six years out there if he wants it
3:06
I still wouldn't want to be the team that makes that deal, but he's a 30-year-old starter with premium durability who at least looks like a strong #3 after the pitch adjustments with the Rays and has the borderline ace track record. I think someone's going to pay him

"Hope all is well" Not for the Dodgers. So what do they do.
Anthony Franco
3:07
Don't think there's much to be done with the lineup beyond finding someone to take a little bit of the Teoscar money off their hands and turning LF to De Paula
3:08
Need Ohtani to be healthier next postseason. A little concerned about Freddie's lack of power becoming a legitimate issue at this point but he's down to the final year on his deal anyway
3:09
TBD on Skubal since they're being very cagey about Walter's financial situation. Not like they'd necessarily need to bring in another starter this offseason if he walks. Re-sign one of Phillips or Vesia
Greg
3:09
With a good young core of hitting in place, can you see the Rockies making any meaningful splashes in the FA pitching market? They have not much on the payroll moving forward.
Anthony Franco
3:11
No I think it'll look pretty similar to last winter. They're still not there yet and this is a bad FA class to start throwing money around too early

What does a Reed Detmers deal look like this offseason? Asking for the Orioles, but also in general.
Anthony Franco
3:12
Two years of cheap arb control over a #2/3 starter costs a lot. Multiple top 100 prospects, headliner should be top 30-40 or so overall
3:15
On Baltimore specifically, whichever of Eric Booth Jr. or Enddy Azocar the Angels prefer plus someone from the Luis De Leon/Michael Forret/Nestor German group seems like a decent starting point. Anyone below Eyanson should be on the table

Why should I have any faith in the Tigers? This team is going to be horrifically mid next year. We’re going to watch Skubal re-sign with the Dodgers or go to the Mets and I’m supposed to believe that River Ryan will contribute in a significant manner. This team won’t amount to anything unless they get an owner who actually cares.
Anthony Franco
3:17
Eh obviously I'm not as down on them as you are. Lineup core of McGonigle, Dingler and Greene plus full seasons from Jobe and Melton is a really good starting point. Division's improved but still far from a juggernaut
3:18
They've got work to do obviously (mid-rotation arm, back of the 'pen, addition at second or third base) but they're in a pretty good starting position

Happy Friday Ant, with Posey wanting to offload contracts during this past season and Devers being the only one of the big contracts that I could see have value, do you think a team like the yankees makes sense from a DH standpoint? When Judge was out for the playoff offense was horrid outside of Rice
Gigantes
3:18
With Casey Schmitt’s breakout this season and Buster Posey looking to revamp the roster, how aggressively do you expect the Giants to shop internal surplus pieces like Schmitt or Jung Hoo Lee to re-tool their starting pitching depth for 2027? Do you expect them to look to buy the top of the market for pitching?
Anthony Franco
3:19
Man, they probably should trade Raffy but they don't seem to have a real idea of what their competitive window is. Doubt they'll compete in '27 either way but that goes completely out the door if they move him
3:21
Should've dealt Lee at the deadline. Didn't take the opportunity when he was playing well and now I think they're stuck with him. There's no chance he'd get three years for $63M with an opt out after year one if he were a free agent coming off that finish
3:23
A Schmitt trade I could see but the approach plus injury are scary enough that I think you'd be looking at a league average type starter in return. He's a good player but not someone a team is giving up a top-end starter for
3:24
They're going to have to do better in FA than Houser/Mahle buy-low this offseason but I'd be surprised if we're talking Skubal there. Feels very Imanaga to me

3:24
Do you think a mariners starter gets traded, and if so which one? And what position do they target as the return?
Anthony Franco
3:25
Yeah it's time. Offense was terrible again and even the starting pitching wasn't actually that good this year. Something needs to change
I'd guess it's Kirby but wouldn't really be surprised by anyone other than Kade Anderson or Bryan Woo
3:26
Also going to need an outfielder if Randy walks but the goal should be a shortstop in the rotation trade. Can't just turn that job to Emerson right now and the infield defense needs to improve
3:27
If Emerson's healthy and hits, just plug him at third. Donovan can bounce around for a year and you have your infield pretty well set for the future

Would the league and players consider a system that goes after draft capital rather than financials? For example, if a team crosses a threshold (similar to what they have now) they forfeit a 5th round pick for the first time, and then the pick penalty increases for each consecutive year that the team crosses that threshold. Then those picks are put up in a lottery for the teams that cross a minimum salary threshold (like the current revenue sharing threshold). This way teams can't dominate the free agent market while also building through the draft (buy vs. build mentality). Thoughts?
Anthony Franco
3:30
Yeah there's already kind of proof of concept with this in terms of moving your top pick back if you go beyond CBT tier 3 and/or differing pick forfeitures for qualified free agents based on spending. I think redistributing the picks is needlessly complicated -- they can just forfeit them like they do with the QO -- but could definitely see something like this

Who will be playing LF for the Padres next year?  Your thoughts on if they re-sign France and King (after he opts out).  Lastly, they pick up the Pivetta option, right?
Anthony Franco
3:31
Pivetta -- I expect him back but probably on a restructured contract so he doesn't have the post-'27 opt out. Should be easy enough to work that out: they agree to pick him up at 14, he converts the '28 player option into guaranteed money, maybe tack on a mutual option or something to throw him a few extra million dollars
3:32
King's probably back, I think they'll be priced out on France given all the pitching needs. Give me Trevor Larnach/Hays reunion for LF
3:33
King back in the sense that he'll opt out and then the Padres will pay him a slightly better guarantee, to be clear

Does Brian Cashman have a lifetime job? Does Hal even care what the Yankees do as long as 3 mil buy tickets every year?
