Hunter Green

Specifically who could the Reds get for me in the way of major league ready offense. Outfielder preferably but feel free to get creative.

There are still rumors swirling around the 'Nati that Hunter Greene is on the trading block.  Considering his lack of durability and the two major eggs he laid late in the year at Chavez Ravine-including in the Wildcard Series-you'd have to think this is at least somewhat plausible.  While many think Boston a good trade partner, I'd target Jackson Merrill from San Diego who has 7 years left on his 9 year extension and is the Red's wheelhouse in terms of affordability.  SD needs a potential ace like Greene and the Reds need hitting and defense.  Greene has a 10.6 WAR the past two seasons vs. Merrill's 7.3 WAR.  Being a SoCal native, you'd think SD should be able to extend Greene beyond his current 2029 contract. Who says no to this trade proposal... or do they?!

Padres aren't trading Merrill. I don't expect Greene to move. Cincinnati can trade any of Singer, Abbott or Lodolo if they want to swap a starter for offense (which Krall has already kind of downplayed)

Having a hard time finding a young hitter that seems like he lines up on value with four years of control over Greene. Maybe Langford but Texas already needs offense. I wouldn't give up Greene for Andy Pages or Tyler Soderstrom

is it a difficult call whether to opt out of my contract?  It would have been crazy to imagine a year ago, but I’m looking at a weak middle-infield market and an awesome platform year.

I don't think there's much upside beyond 2/55 and expect him to opt in. Would be an easier sell for me if he didn't already look like he should be at second base
4:16
Steve's more open to him trying this than I am though, even if just to see if the Red Sox will exercise the '28 option to override it. I'd let him walk if I were Boston

let’s get silly and pretend Toronto could be in the Tucker market as a legit landing spot. What would it take a team to then pry Varsho from the great white north?
Anthony Franco

Not seeing why the Jays would trade Varsho even if they did sign Tucker. They're not putting Tucker in center field
4:20
But to answer the question, he'd have decent value at one year and an arb projection around $10M. They'd get more for him than they got for Teoscar before his last arb year

Miz has to be sticking in the rotation going forward with how he's pitched this postseason right? If so think pairing him with Peralta makes it more likely they keep Freddy or potentially having a new ace makes it more likely they trade him?
Anthony Franco

He'll definitely get another chance to start. The bullpen move was only a short series thing as he worked through his second half slump
4:24
I expect them to listen on Peralta but set the kind of ask that no one will meet. They're in a better spot now than they were when they traded Burnes and they were content to hold Adames and just get the QO pick for him. I'd rather run it back with Peralta, Miz, Priester and hopefully a better version of Gasser than we're seeing right now

Alright, I have to wrap up here. Had more questions today than usual, sorry if I didn't get to yours. As always, happy to take stuff on X over the weekend
