Yeah that'd be my pick. I don't have strong rooting interests but, like most people outside L.A., I'd rather see someone other than the Dodgers win at this point

Do Free Agents hope to sign before Thanksgiving, or do they want to wait it out until after the lockout? What’s their strategy?
Anthony Franco
6:05
It'll be a case by case thing. Some guys won't care about waiting it out, others will want the security
6:06
Last one had a rush of activity between Thanksgiving and December 1. I expect something similar this time but there's ultimately not a huge difference between players who sign pre-lockout and those who don't, so there'll be guys who are fine waiting rather than dropping their asking price on Nov. 28
6:07
Main advantages to signing early are 1) stability of knowing where you'll be next season, maybe getting an early jump on settling your family and 2) signing bonuses as protection for lost games
6:08
But no one gets their 2027 salaries if the games don't get played so that's immaterial

I’ve heard a lot of talk the brewers may trade Andrew Vaughn in the offseason. What do you think they may do as far as first base next season? Obviously they aren’t likely to resign Bauers.
Anthony Franco
6:10
Yeah Bauers priced himself out. I lean toward a Vaughn trade too and a stopgap (e.g. Nathaniel Lowe, Jake Burger) with Andrew Fischer hopefully taking it midseason

Can Detroit compete for Skubal with 40/40/50/50/50/50?  Full No-Trade Clause, no deferred money.  Back-loading helps make it work, post-Baez/Valdez.  Too much money for his age, injury history and playing every 5th day, but he is as elite as anyone in the game.
Anthony Franco
6:11
Not a joke offer or anything but I think someone else will beat that and be willing to go eight or nine years
6:12
He's the cleanest FA pitcher we've seen since Gerrit Cole, who got nine years at 36 annually. Skubal not comfortably beating that $324M total would be a disappointment for his camp

How much would Ryan Weathers and/or Will Warren bring back in a trade for an infielder?
Anthony Franco
6:14
They'd both have pretty significant value. I'm bigger on Weathers personally but don't doubt there'd be teams that prefer the stability and extra two of control over Warren
6:15
Edward Cabrera landed a big league ready top 50-ish OF prospect (Owen Caissie) from the Cubs last year. It's a little tougher to find on the infield, especially if you're looking for someone established, but Weathers/Warren trade value should be comparable to that
6:16
A's desperately need pitching. How do you feel about three years of Zack Gelof?
Angels
6:16
Assuming they are not trading Neto or Detmers during the offseason, who can the Angels realistically sign or trade for in CF and in the Bullpen (arguably their biggest needs, if you agree), that can make a big difference.
Anthony Franco
6:18
I'd throw catcher up there too. I don't think anyone's making a huge difference but could them taking a shot on Carson Kelly or Daulton Varsho types on the position player side, would look more toward cheap one-year bullpen fliers to flip in July
6:19
Alright obviously got a later start on the chat this week so I'm going to wrap up here
Sorry if I didn't get to your question. As always, I'm happy to take anything else on X @affranco10 and will try to get back to you over the weekend
6:20
Chat schedule might be off by an hour or two on Monday as well because Darragh's off for Canadian Thanksgiving
6:21
I'll do this again next Friday, hopefully back at the usual time. Thanks for all your questions and continued support of the site, it means the world to us!
Happy holiday weekend to everyone north of the border! We'll do this again soon
