Hey everyone, hope you're doing well!
3:58
Pretty fascinating trade with Varsho/Moreno, interesting to see what else is involved
Guessing we'll discuss that and a bunch of other stuff

I thought Danny Mendick was the Sox’s best chance at second base. Do you think they will give Gonzalez or Sosa the starting job?
Anthony Franco
3:59
I feel like they have to bring in a veteran. There's not much out there beyond Segura although you could see if Andrus is willing to play second for a full season after his decent finish
4:00
Gonzalez and Sosa don't have lengthy enough minor league track records I'd like them as a regulars on a hopeful contender

Best free agent signing so far? Worst?
Anthony Franco
4:02
I assume we're taking this from a team value perspective. I liked the Giants getting Manaea and Stripling for two years, think the Angels got a steal with Carlos Estévez at 2/14
4:03
It's tough to evaluate the Correa stuff but if the Mets are comfortable with his medical, then 12/315 in an offseason where Bogaerts got 280 and Judge got 360 is pretty good value at the top of the market
4:04
Taijuan Walker's at the top of the list of deals I just don't understand. I thought we were too bullish going to 4/52 on our projection. The Phillies topped that by $20MM

4:04
Will the tigers add a bat at some point this offseason or is Andre lipcius/Wenceel perez gonna owe the opening day third baseman?
Anthony Franco
4:04
Nah they'll bring somebody else in. They're been kind of loosely tied to Brian Anderson, which is a fit I like a lot

2 Cubs questions: are they still in play for a trade for a Toronto catcher after the Barnhart signing? And, why NOT explore a trade for Javy Baez, if Detroit will eat some of the $, or the prospects involved aren't TOO valuable? Talk about an infield defense.... and maybe, back in Chi, Javy humbles a bit and works on reducing the flailing...
Anthony Franco
4:05
This question was submitted before the Jays traded Moreno. Guess they could still deal Jansen but that now seems a lot less likely
4:06
Don't think the Cubs would've signed Barnhart if they thought they were going to trade for Jansen, although Barnhart's not good enough to rule them out if that opportunity presents itself
4:07
On Javy, I just don't see what the appeal is for the Cubs. He wasn't good this year, and if he bounces back, he can opt out at the end of next season. The contract's all downside at this point
4:08
Would I rather have him as my third baseman than Patrick Wisdom? Yeah, but I wouldn't want to commit a notable chunk of money -- even if Detroit kicks in half the salary or whatever for the next five years when he can leave after next season if he figures things out
Hits Like Rays
4:08
Should Rays' fans be worried about the state of their bullpen after trading Chargois, Feyereisen, etc?
Anthony Franco
4:09
It isn't especially imposing on paper, I agree. But the Rays have such a strong track record of patching bullpens together I kind of trust they'll sort it out. They do a great job building a unit that's better than the sum of its parts because of the different styles and ar angles they throw at you

What do you think Cleveland's roster will look like when Spring Training starts in about seven weeks?
Anthony Franco
4:10
Not really expecting many huge changes at this point. Could use a more stable lefty reliever than Hentges, maybe they deal one of Civale or Plesac for a fine but not great veteran bat to rotate into the corner outfield or DH on occasion
4:11
At the start of the offseason, I'd have guessed they trade Rosario. No longer think that's the case
Jeremy
4:11
As a jays fan, can you give me the lowdown on Varsho?
Anthony Franco
4:12
Excellent defensive outfielder who can cover all three spots out there. Lefty bat with some power, particularly against RHP, although he's probably more of a 20-homer guy than annually pushing 30 like he did this year. Good baserunner with average contact skills/plate discipline
4:13
He's controllable for four seasons, which is why he had more trade value than I think most people might expect at first glance. He's a good all-around player but kind of a polar opposite stylistically from Teoscar
Jeremy
4:13
Espinal - Hendriks type swap.. does it make sense? Jays still have Biggio and Whit at 2B if they moved him
Anthony Franco
4:14
I think the White Sox could do better. Hendriks at 2/29 should be really appealing considering this year's reliever market
Dizrick
4:14
Are the pirates going to trade Brian Reynolds and who lines up well with them?
konalawrence
4:14
Any chance the Giant still try to get Bryan Reynolds?
Anthony Franco
4:15
I feel the Giants are probably out on that after signing Conforto. Reynolds can play center field but he's not great out there, and it'd require then shipping away Yaz with how the outfield has shaped up
4:16
Seems like Pittsburgh's holding firm to a high ask and daring teams to meet it. Jon Morosi said this week they want a top piching prospect in the deal, although I can't imagine they're only looking at packages that include arms
Miami fits. Yankees, Seattle, Boston maybe. I guess I'd handicap the odds of a trade this offseason at 40%?
Wayne
4:17
If the Dodgers are indeed trying to stay below the LT threshold and potentially need to do so by trading a few pieces, could you see the Phillies going after Daniel Hudson?
Anthony Franco
4:17
Don't really see Hudson as a viable candidate for this kind of move. They just signed him to that extension in September
4:18
They don't have a ton of great candidates for this. Could try to offload Treinen by attaching a young player

With the dodgers expected to release Bauer, where will he pitch next year?
Stacey
4:19
Anyone take a chance on Bauer?
Dodgers fan
4:19
Can we get anything for Trevor Bauer in trade
Anthony Franco
4:20
I expect the Dodgers to release Bauer. No one's trading for him, and I'm skeptical anyone signs him at that point. I know Tim finds him signing elsewhere more likely than I do, though
Chip
4:20
I know the Braves have a couple of $20 million + contracts ( Morton & Riley ) plus the albatross ( Ozuna ) but with all the pennies on the dollar extensions how can they have payroll concerns ????
