Meister attributed a lot of it to increased emphasis on the sweeping breaking ball and firmer changeups. That got pushback from some pitchers around the league, so it's not like it's settled, but the overarching issue is that teams/pitchers are incentivized to push their arms as far as they possibly can to optimize performance
3:54
It's more efficient for a team to burn through a bunch of power arms than it is to increase their odds of keeping guys healthy but sacrificing the extra 2-3 MPH (particularly on breaking stuff) that keeps them on par with the rest of the league

Padres 40man is still at 39 and we're still sitting on 4 OFs. I'm still praying it's not Pham. Can you see any OFs that have value that could still be a trade target for Preller?
Anthony Franco
3:55
The most likely answer seems to be Pham but I've thought Harold Ramírez was a good trade fit for San Diego all offseason
3:56
Rays have lost some of their DH depth -- traded Raley, Aranda got hurt -- so that might be tougher to pull off than it was six weeks ago, but they're basically always willing to listen on anything

How many homers for Oneil Cruz this year? Hes murdering spring training pitching. Is it just hopium? Is it real?
Anthony Franco
3:57
Real in the sense that he's the best player in MLB? Probably not. But it's certainly encouraging that he's not showing any ill effects of last year's layoff
3:58
The home park works against him and there are going to be a lot of strikeouts, but I'm optimistic. I'll go with 28 homers

In a saves/holds NL only and the Astros keeper league. 280 budget, 10 pitching spots. Do you prefer Bryan Abreu @ 5 or Seranthony Dominguez @ 1?
Anthony Franco
3:59
This is a better question for Nicklaus, sorry. I've never played in a fantasy league with budgets so it's tough for me to contextualize what you can accomplish with the other $4 if you go with Dominguez
Obviously I think Abreu's the better pitcher but I can't answer whether that's a worthwhile trade-off

Any thoughts on a comeback player of the year?
Anthony Franco
4:01
Haven't considered it. Guess I'd pick a player coming back from surgery. Walker Buehler in the NL?
Ryan Redleg

Over/under 30 home runs for CES?  Over/under 40 Steals for Elly De La Cruz?
Anthony Franco
4:01
Under on CES even though I like him a lot. I think Elly can get to 40 steals
4:02
He came pretty close last year despite debuting midseason and striking out a ton. I'd take the over on a .300 OBP for him this year
4:03
Alright, have to wrap this up here
4:05
As I mentioned earlier, I'm on vacation after today. Haven't confirmed this but I believe that Steve will step in on the chats for the next two Fridays. I'll be back on April 12
