I don't love the bullpen -- it's the weakest point on the roster for me -- but it can be viable

What to do with Steven Matz? Surface numbers are bad, statcast numbers at least decent. Hold and trust the two will match up, or try to trade while he still might have some value?

Still a hold for me. He's always been homer prone and given up a lot of hard contact. I don't think the ERA will come back to the mid-3.00s some of the peripherals indicate but he'll have to get better than this. If you can selectively play him against bad lineups or in favorable parks, that's probably ideal

Over/Under $52 million AAV

I'll take the under on that

Webb's extension seems like a team friendly deal in the current market. A $15 mil. AAV seems pretty reasonable compared to what a lot of front line pitchers are getting these days.

Mutually sensible in my opinion. Should look good in comparison to free agent prices but a $90MM guarantee is pretty strong for a pitcher in the 4-5 year service bucket
5:18
Not tacking on any club option years at the back end is a nice perk for him. Totally get why both sides were happy with this one

Do you see Nick Lodolo developing into a top 10 MLB pitcher in the near future?
Anthony Franco

Man that's a tough one. Top 10 is such lofty company that I'll say no but don't think he'll be that far outside of it. He looks really good
Dodger Dave

How about some trade candidates for Dodgers beleaguered bullpen?
Anthony Franco
5:20
Too early for anyone notable. Scott Barlow, Alex Lange, Kyle Finnegan if he turns it around are among the relievers I could see generating a decent amount of trade interest. It's not happening in mid-April though

Who's likely to get a shot at higher leverage than they are currently getting in a deep bullpen (like SEA, ATL, NYY, etc)
Anthony Franco
5:23
Tough one to answer off the top of my head but I'm pretty interested in seeing what Justin Topa could do if he were consistently healthy
Thank you for the chat!

How would you describe the career trajectory of Yelich?
Anthony Franco
5:23
Ha, I do not know. Bizarre but very successful?
Thank you for the chat!

What do you think Trout would get on the open market?
Anthony Franco
5:25
Need more time to give this real thought but offhand, I'd probably go around $380MM. Judge reportedly had $400MM on the table at the same age after one of the best platform seasons ever
5:26
He doesn't have Trout's consistency but also don't have the same kind of injury history. That'd be a fascinating one
Alright that's all I've got time for today
