Haven't given this too much thought yet but I think I'm in the low-600s for Soto right now. 14 x 50 seems high for a player who already doesn't contribute much defensively
4:41
Yankees are the lazy pick as the incumbent but I don't have anyone from the field that seems more likely to me right now
mason miller is the truth
4:41
top 3 trade targets for the a’s when they are inevitably in the third wild card spot come mid july? (i am a delusional a’s fan)
Anthony Franco
4:42
Haha I admire your optimism
They'll probably trade away Paul Blackburn and J.D. Davis and call it a deadline
CardinalRed
4:43
With all the talk about trading Goldy, and if they actually do it, what are chances that Walker could move back on the dirt to take over at 1B, similar to the Pujols path to 1B? Would improve outfield D and a big target for Wynn and Arenado to hit.
Anthony Franco
4:45
Yeah, I think that’s probably the play after the 2024 season. Goldy as a midseason trade candidate depends on how he’s hitting and where the team sits at the deadline, but I agree that Walker should be a first baseman long term. Guess your mileage may vary on whether you still think he’ll hit enough to profile there.

Any rumors on Julio, lately of the Dodgers?  Is he on administrative leave?
Anthony Franco
4:46
He's a free agent so there's no need for administrative leave. He got charged with five misdemeanor counts a couple weeks ago. The league will probably wait to impose discipline until after the criminal proceedings play out
4:47
I'd be very surprised if he's not ultimately hit with a lengthy suspension. I don't expect he'll pitch in MLB again
DrDave
4:47
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like more and more starting pitchers are being pulled after 4 and 2/3 innings.  Is this some sort of punishment from the managers for not pitching well and depriving them any chance of a win should the offense bail them out?
Anthony Franco
4:49
There's a good chance that you're into the middle of the order for the third time once you get to 4.2 innings. Managers hate letting anyone outside of their best starters pitching in those situations
Hamilton
4:49
Will David Hamilton in Boston ever hit enough to use his speed, or is he the second coming of his namesake Billy Hamilton, who never figured out how to steal first? Is every hitter named Hamilton really the same person?
Anthony Franco
4:50
Billy Hamilton was a Gold Glove caliber center fielder for a little bit and has played parts of 11 seasons in the majors. I don’t think David Hamilton has that in him. Probably shouldn’t be a shortstop and I doubt he hits enough to profile anywhere else.

Bills make a big move to go get one of the big three recievers in the draft?
Anthony Franco
4:52
Haha I've seen Brandon Beane downplay that and no one believes it. I'd guess they end up with WR 4/5 but I admit to being much more intrigued with what happens at #13 since I listened to my dad and became a Raider fan instead of the Bills
Darragh McDonald
4:52
Does Dr. Doolittle hear the dust mites in his pillow when he tries to sleep?
Anthony Franco
4:53
This is the last thing I have in the queue. I have no idea what it means but I hope this is the real Darragh McDonald
4:54
Anyways I'm around for another seven minutes if anyone wants to throw anything else out there
a’s talk
4:55
i find myself in a tough spot. i’ve grown up an enormous a’s fan and i’m extremely pissed they’re moving. but… i can’t help but still root for them! i’ve tried rooting for other teams i like (mariners, orioles, pirates, and dbacks are my top picks). but it’s just not the same. i don’t really have a question i suppose. just like… screw john fisher???
Anthony Franco
4:57
Yeah, this sucks. Feel really bad for A's fans. I picked my fandom in other sports not based on geography so I've never had to worry about this. I hope you're eventually able to get a team back there

Any chance Anthony Rizzo gets his $17M 2025 option picked up ?
Anthony Franco
4:58
Option decisions are largely decided based on the player's platform year, so there's a chance, but it's not looking good right now. It'd take a huge summer
DrDave

Puk?  Done, finished?  Another bad day at the office today.
Anthony Franco
4:59
He's a pretty good reliever. The rotation experiment should probably come to an end
hi
4:59
who is your favorite player to watch right now?
Anthony Franco
5:00
That's a good question. Acuna and Julio (maybe not right now for the latter, but in general) are the first who jump to mind. Watching Tarik Skubal pitch is fun as hell
I love watching Ketel Marte hit too

All-time bottom 5 team wRC+ seasons: 1963 Mets 69, 2024 Marlins 69, 1899 Spiders 68, 1920 A's 68, 2024 White Sox 67. Do you expect the Marlins and White Sox to pick things up, or are we really looking at two of the worst offenses ever?
Anthony Franco
5:02
The Marlins are bad but they're not an all-time catastrophe. The White Sox though...
5:03
They're very unlikely to finish as a bottom five offense ever, but it's rough
Pip
5:03
Extend Gunnar. How much?
Anthony Franco
5:06
If you're trying to keep him for the majority of his career, probably have to beat the Witt deal. Guess I'd set the O/U at $300M
5:08
Alright, I'm taking over news coverage from the Dr. Doolittle aficionado, so we'll wrap this one up
5:09
Thanks for all the questions this week! Always enjoy doing these and appreciate your continued support of the site. Feel free to throw stuff at me on X throughout the week
We'll do this again next Friday. Have a great weekend!
