Still not a guy I'd feel great about investing in long-term based on the glove. If he wants to take 2/22, sure, but I imagine he's aiming higher and if he's going for three or four years, I'd let him walk and move Keith back there
4:22
This is kind of the ideal outcome on a one-year deal. Rushing into an extension can sour that pretty quickly

Aside from a rental (Bichette) and a bad contract like Story's, is there a shortstop market, because I can't see that has one they'd move.
Anthony Franco

IKF can play shortstop but no one's going to be excited about that. Rays could move Caballero (or Walls, I guess) once Kim returns. Walls and Allen are basically the same player but Caballero has a little higher OBP floor and the elite baserunning
It's a really weak group, though, I agree

Would love the Yanks to go after Helsley or Bednar and build a super bullpen with Weaver and Williams.

Makes a lot of sense. Aside from maybe LeMahieu, not a whole lot to upgrade in the lineup. Could use a better depth infielder than Peraza or Pablo Reyes, I guess, but that's minor. Still hope for Gil to provide a boost to an already solid rotation
4:28
Agree that if they're going to make some kind of headline-grabbing deadline, absolutely stacking the back end of the bullpen is probably the place to do it. That's the kind of thing that gets magnified in importance in October

Who are the best bats the Giants could get?

The Mariners are fading fast. Give me 2 players Names that they can reasonably trade for to help them get back on track?
Anthony Franco
4:31
Tying these together because I think they'll be on similar targets. O'Hearn, Josh Naylor, Hoskins (more so for SF than Seattle given the money), potentially Ozuna if Atlanta can't cling to any hope of contending
Better for AZ?
4:31
If AZ continues to not be a contender, is the franchise better off trading it's expiring contracts at the deadline or turning The Big Four* into QO picks in the 2026 draft to have 7-8 of the first 100 picks?
Anthony Franco
4:33
Generally better off trading rentals for prospects than banking on the QO return if you're out of contention. You can diversify that way a little more because most of those trades will net two or three minor leaguers rather than the one you'd get with a pick
4:34
With the way the bonus pools are set up, I can see the argument for loading up on picks to try to get a bunch of top high school talents in the '26 class on overslot deals. But I also wouldn't consider all of Suárez, Naylor, Gallen and Kelly easy QO decisions
4:37
Gallen and Kelly, yes. Kelly probably accepts but that's a fine outcome IMO. Naylor, maybe. I wouldn't QO Suárez. That'd tank his market on a multi-year deal and he'd have to take it, which leaves you with a similar roster to this year (again blocks Lawlar) and has chewed up a lot of money
Thanks!

What does Judge get on the open market?
Anthony Franco
4:40
Man, if he were just willing to go the highest bidder? Like 8/450? That'd run through age 41 and come with an AAV above $56MM
I really have no idea haha. I imagine there would be teams willing to go beyond $60MM annually if they could get him to take four or five years
4:41
Alright that's all I've got time for today
Had a lot of questions so there are a lot that I didn't get to. As always, feel free to throw anything else at me on X @affranco10 and I'll try to get back to you on there
