Hey everyone, hope all is well!
Steve's off today so I'll need to keep this one to an hour. Let's get rolling
Arthur Dent

What’s a realistic trade scenario for the Mariners to upgrade their offense (and maybe reinforce the pen)?
Scott Judy
3:58
I’m a Mariners fan and very excited to see what the team will do at the trade deadline. One name floating around M’s socials is Isaac Paredes. What do you think the realistic cost is for him? I’ve seen some think it’s a top 10 prospect plus more and others think the conversation starts with Miller or Woo. What are you thoughts?
Anthony Franco
3:59
I think Paredes is a realistic target for Seattle. Arozarena could work there as well (not a package deal, just another viable Rays trade target)

In my dream world the Os and Mariners match up well for a big trade.  Os can send cheap bats in exchange for pitching.  This is will only be possible in my dream world, right?
Anthony Franco
4:00
I'll pull this one in here too since it relates to Scott's Paredes question
4:01
I don't think the Mariners need to (or are particularly likely to) deal from their MLB rotation. They've resisted doing that in previous years and we've seen how quickly teams that once had excellent rotation depth -- e.g. Marlins, Astros -- can burn through it
4:02
Three and a half years of Paredes is really valuable, and I'm sure the Rays would be happy to build something around Miller or Woo, but Seattle has so much top-end talent in the farm system that they shouldn't need to pull from the MLB roster for offense
4:05
BA's got them with seven top 100 prospects and four of the top 50. Not every team is going to value those guys exactly the same. But if Seattle were willing to move Cole Young plus someone from the group of Harry Ford, Logan Evans and Lazaro Montes, they should be able to construct a realistic Paredes package that doesn't touch the current rotation
Question Mark
4:05
Who do prefer...Chourio or Holliday?
Anthony Franco
4:06
Holliday. A lot more faith in the pure hitting ability and he's got the defensive edge as a middle infielder
Nothing But Rumors
4:06
When do we see some real trades (Arraez aside) start trickling in?
Anthony Franco
4:06
Typically doesn't happen until the second or third week of July
Scott Judy
4:07
Is Luis Robert’s upside worth a “Soto-like” package?
Anthony Franco
4:08
Yeah I think that's the general range. Not sure it'll be on the table -- especially if Robert keeps striking out at his current rate -- but there's no reason for the White Sox to take something that feels like a sell-low
4:09
They shouldn't match the Soto deal, even with the extra year of control. Soto's clearly a better player and doesn't have Robert's injury history. But it has to involve multiple Top 50 type prospects to get the conversation started

4:09
Why isn't there more noise surrounding Jesus Sanchez and Bryan De La Cruz as potential trade targets?  Both are young, cheap, and have reasonably productive track records with potential to improve.
Anthony Franco
4:10
Don't see a ton of appeal with either player. They're both corner defenders who have a sub-.300 OBP this season (and barely above that in their careers)
4:11
Miami could probably drum up some level of interest in both. (I prefer Sánchez personally.) But they're not getting a ton of traction as trade candidates because they're role players on a contender
AJ
4:12
Loads of #FireAtkins hashtags online after every Jays loss. I honestly can't disagree, he failed to address the teams largest off season need and now mid season they are scrambling. If this team is headed for a re-build or a re-tool, I wouldn't give the keys to Atkins.
Anthony Franco
4:13
This isn't really a question but to your general point, wouldn't surprise me if Atkins' job is in jeopardy if the Jays miss the playoffs

Damn - Shota gave up 11 runs vs Mets today. That's the second tine he's been rocked this season so far.  Should Cubs fans still believe in him or were the concerns about his fly ball tendencies coming to bite him and will continue now that summer is here?
Anthony Franco
4:15
I was lower on him than most when he came over because of the HR issues he had in Japan. He's better than I anticipated but I think he'll still have his share of clunkers with the warmer weather
He's more of a #3 guy than an ace for me, but that'd still be great value for the price they paid
Rick
4:15
Brooks Lee looks like he could be the Twins second baseman sooner than later. Would you rather have Lee or Colt Keith as a keeper second baseman?
Anthony Franco
4:16
I still have hope for Keith but I'd take Lee over him
Uncle Ben
4:16
How long a run do the Yankees give Ben Rice vs. being active on the trade market?
Anthony Franco
4:18
Can't see Rice getting in the way of anything they'd do at the deadline. There's not a whole lot to be done right now but even if he has a really good next few weeks, the sample's too small to feel like him (plus a returning Rizzo) solidifies first base going into October

Outside of shortstop the Yankees could use help at every infield position. Ryan MacMahon of Colorado would be a great fit but not likely available. Who else will or may be available that the Yankees could target at the trade deadline?  Love these chats.  Thanks
Mike
4:18
The Yankees have some issues that have been exposed. A suspect bullpen, a catcher who can’t throw people out, and the need for a better bat at first, third or second base. Which is the biggest need? Most fixable?
Anthony Franco
4:20
Luis Rengifo fits on the infield. Nats could move Nick Senzel if they drop out of it, but that becomes less likely with each week.

Depending on what the Cubs do over the next few weeks, Bellinger could be an interesting trade candidate. The player options make it complicated because the acquiring team is taking on the contractual downside, but he still seems likelier than not to opt out
Yankees wouldn't need him in CF obviously but he could fit at first base
4:22
To Mike's question, I'd order the priorities: infielder, high-leverage bullpen arm, catcher. Adding a reliever (particularly a lefty) should be the easiest to accomplish. Trevino has been rough in the running game, but the Yankees probably value his receiving skills enough to look past the arm

4:22
Does Eloy Jiménez return from injury to the ChiSox or a new team?  Does his bat get going regardless ros?
Anthony Franco
4:24
I doubt the Sox find a taker. Even beyond the injury history, he's been an average hitter in three of the last four seasons and has no defensive value. He's playing on a $13MM salary and due a $3MM buyout at the end of the season
Scott Judy
4:24
Do you think we’ll see more or less trades due to the logjam in the NL WC picture?
Secretary of State Antony Blinken
4:24
The NL teams hovering around 500 are a mess.  Who of that group looks most like a playoff team to you?
Anthony Franco
4:26
I'll stick with the Padres and Reds as the teams I like most of the group. I expect the jumble to decrease the overall number of trades because there are so few clear-cut sellers. Could see a handful of swaps of MLB role players at positions of need though (kinda like the JoJo Romero/Edmundo Sosa deal from a couple years ago)
Senator Marco Rubio

assuming one of the orioles/yankees takes one of the AL wild cards, who gets the other two?  Not two AL central teams?
