Hey everybody, hope you all had a good week!
3:00
Always enjoy these, looking forward to it! Let's get going

I plan on sending this every chat until it’s acknowledged: shout out to the Red Sox John Schrieber…dude has been just plan nasty. Can he please be on the all star team?
Anthony Franco
3:01
Acknowledged! He's been unbelievable
I'd guess he probably doesn't make the All-Star game based on the lack of name recognition but you can certainly argue he should be there

Phillies can't replace harper but what about trying to improve in other areas? Maybe taylor and Barlow? For say bohm
Anthony Franco
3:03
I think a Taylor/Barlow combo would be a great fit for Philly but it's hard for me to see them giving up Bohm to make it happen. It's not like they've got a ton else at third base then
3:04
Whether the Royals would take that is a pretty interesting question too. If they think he can still be a regular, then four-plus seasons for a stopgap center fielder and a good reliever is a worthwhile deal. But it's very possible they're just out on Bohm given how badly he's played the last couple years. I'd guess different teams have wildly varying opinions on whether he can fix things

Rob Manfred is interested in a 32 team league. What do you think the league would look like division wise with 32 teams?
Anthony Franco
3:05
NFL setup with eight divisions at four teams per. Probably a broadly similar makeup to what we have now given the desire to maintain the classic rivalries
Nomahhhhh
3:05
Is Benitendi coming back to the AL East? Toronto, NYY, Tampa? They all make sense.
Anthony Franco
3:06
Hmm I guess I'll lean towards Toronto at the moment, sure
3:07
There'll be like 8-10 teams with interest and I'd take the field over any individual one. But if you gave me a choice between one of the Jays, Rays and Yankees vs. the other 26 teams, I'd take the AL East group
Bert
3:07
Dom Smith, Ronny Mauricio and  JD Davis for Luis Castillo. Who says no.
Anthony Franco
3:08
Reds. Smith doesn't hold much value anymore in my view, and Mauricio's hit tool concerns are big enough I think they'd find a better central prospect in a Castillo deal

Angel starters have been surprisingly good.  But they need a bat.  Is Brandon Drury a fit?  (Replaces Rendon and leaves after the season).
Anthony Franco
3:09
He'd help and wouldn't cost much, so it'd be a perfectly fine move, but I think they may find themselves too far out to start trading for rentals
3:10
Could just sign Jonathan Villar if you want to improve the infield a bit for 2022 while not giving up future value in recognition of the fact that they're unlikely to make the playoffs this year

Aside from Andrew bennintendi, who might the Yankees target to replace gallo?
Mike
3:10
What are the Yankees going do on the trade mart?   What would you do?
TCBASICS
3:11
Do you think Joey Gallo Will get traded or has his stock sank too low.
Chris W
3:11
Can you walk through what kind of package yankees would need to give up for benintendi, who is an objective upgrade over Gallo. Also, do you think such a deal is likely before the deadline?
Aaron boone
3:11
My starting right fielder in October will be…?
Anthony Franco
3:11
So the big question in today's chat is "what the hell do the Yankees do with Joey Gallo?"
3:12
Which makes sense since he continues to be terrible and Heyman reported yesterday they're looking for outfield upgrades
3:13
I'm kind of inclined to let things play out there, although I concede that it's getting harder by the week to continue anticipating a turnaround when all he keeps doing is striking out
3:14
If they can land an obviously good player -- say, Ian Happ or Austin Hays -- then by all means go for it and pay down Gallo's salary to go to San Diego or whatever
3:15
But if the options are more of the stopgap variety -- David Peralta, Ben Gamel, Anthony Santander, etc. -- I'd rather just hold Gallo and hope he figures it out. He still has more upside than any of those other guys at least, even if the floor's dreadfully low as we've seen
3:16
Benintendi's right on the border for me. Better than Gallo? Probably. So much better than I'd want to beat the market for maybe the top rental outfielder available? Doubtful
3:17
It does seem they'll explore all their outfield options though, and maybe the front office is coming around to the idea that some fans and media throw out there about Gallo not being "a New York player" and all that
3:19
As far as other things to look for, there's not a whole lot. I'd try to add a veteran depth starter just to guard against injury and maybe look into someone in the Andrew Chafin mold to bump Lucas Luetge down a bit in the bullpen pecking order
But those are luxury buys, the team's really good
Bob T
3:19
What can the Angels realistically get for Syndergaard, Lorenzen, Tepera?
I really enjoy these chats, Anthony.
Anthony Franco
3:20
Tepera's due $7MM next year and has only been ok this season, doubt there's much value there. The starters would draw interest as two of the better rental arms available
3:21
Not going to get a Top 100 prospect for either, but between the two of them, could probably get four interesting mid-tier talents
Twins
3:21
How many bullpen arms do we need at the deadline to be an actual playoff threat?
Anthony Franco
3:22
Two more good pitchers alongside Duran and Jax and I'd feel ok about it. Easier said than done, of course
Arise, Sir Loin of Beef
3:22
What would it cost the Mets to get Fulmer and Chafin from the Tigers? Mancini from the O's?
Anthony Franco
3:24
Fulmer and Chafin would cost more than Mancini, but I don't think you're talking about anyone from the top five in the system in either case. Maybe one of those teams wants to take a shot on Matt Allan?
Matt
3:24
Any chance Tampa ends up a seller? They seem to have slipped recently
