They've made a fair amount of bold moves in free agency. Not so much on the trade market, but they've been hamstrung a bit by consistently bad systems that has also been the source of their biggest problem -- an inability to backfill the roster with depth pieces around the stars
Whether they'll end up selling really depends on how they play over the next month, but there's nothing they can do at the deadline to come especially close to the Astros

I feel like he has to be at this point. They're super loyal and they've already exercised his 2023 option, so who knows, but he was kind of a weird hire to begin with and it's not like the results have demanded he stick around in K.C.

To some extent. Josh Bell and Trey Mancini are the big options at first base, and I agree that's an issue. Don't think the reliever has to be a closer per se, but they definitely need late-inning help

Tigers have a bunch of guys, Orioles have Jorge López, Royals could move Scott Barlow, Cubs will flip David Robertson. There are good relievers on non-contenders out there

Fascinated by the Soto negotiations. I assume he is okay with going to FA, but would be fine if he could get his payday sooner with the Nationals. What do you think the number/years would be to induce him to sign?

The $425MM that was floated yesterday is apparently inaccurate, but if they actually put that out there, it'd be a pretty compelling offer in my view

The amount of Blue Jays atop voting leader boards is a joke. Bichette over Xander? Espinal over gimenez? Come on now. Tell me fan voting doesn’t mean anything and that the deserving guys are actually going to get in

Certainly means something in the sense that it'll determine the starters, but the fan vote is one of a few reasons why the All-Star Game isn't a particularly good barometer of player legacy

It's directionally right for the most part -- you don't often get truly bad players in there -- but there's going to be some element of popularity over production at times
