It's weird. I've been expecting a bounceback for a while based on the BABIP normalizing. Still feels like that's going to happen but he's also hitting a few more grounders and swinging and missing a bit more than he has
4:45
I'm not at "new normal." Still think he's quite a bit better than a .228/.304/.401 hitter. But he's clearly playing below his previous level and it's getting harder to assume .840 OPS Correa is just going to reappear

Who are the Jays looking at for trades and who is expendable? Is Biggio still in the mix? Mitch White?
Anita
4:46
More good options keep getting traded. Blue Jays should shoot for 3 trades starting with 1) OF, my preferred options would be Lane Thomas (Nats), Austin Slater (Giants) & Dylan Carlson (Cards) but unlikely… so as much as I miss Teo, I think the better option would be Randal Grichuk (Rockies).
2) Next is Tim Anderson with Espinal (who I love) going the other way plus prospect to cover 2nd base and back up SS with backup plan Nick Senzel IF/OF (Reds)
3) Finally getting a good relief pitcher like Keynan Middleton (White Sox), Kyle Finnegan (Nats) or say Jake Bird (Rockies)
---Three 3 smaller trades opening up all kinds of options and better production… what are the chances – thoughts?

Couple Blue Jays questions here
4:47
On Steve's, I just don't think Biggio or White are particularly appealing. They could move but they're probably not getting more than middle relief help if they do
4:48
As for the players Anita mentioned, most of those guys feel are generally viable targets. Expect they'll add a right-handed bat. Asking price on Thomas will probably go beyond what they want to pay, don't see a reason for SF to move Slater
4:49
Senzel's been squeezed out in Cincinnati, though, so he works there. Grichuk fits the general profile but I don't think they're doing that again after he was pretty underwhelming there. Could get someone like Connor Joe to play the same role without that history
4:50
The middle relievers work. I don't hate Espinal+ for Anderson as a framework

AA and the braves need ???
Kranny
4:50
The Braves are adding “pieces,” but they could use an upgrade in LF. Duvall seems too obvious, and AA rarely shows his cards before trades. Do you think the Braves roll with Rosario and the rest?
Anthony Franco
4:51
Yeah I really don't think they "need" anything. They've already bolstered the bullpen. Some of the right-handed corner outfield bats mentioned with Toronto could work there as a luxury buy
4:52
I think they'll be pretty quiet, but that's just a reflection of how good the team is already

What is B. Pfaadt’s ceiling?
Anthony Franco

#2/3 starter. Doesn't seem like it's happening this year though

4:53
How about a Joey Ortiz for Sonny Gray swap ... Orioles get the starter they need for the playoff push and Twins get a versatile defender who crushes lefties
Anthony Franco
4:55
Lines up well from a pure value perspective but I wouldn't do it if I were Minnesota. Edouard Julien's mashing and took over second base, probably kicking Polanco over to third. They've already got Solano and Farmer as versatile bench bats
4:56
If they weren't leading the division and/or Julien hadn't been so good immediately, I would've liked it as a fit

Rare Bay Area deal- A's trade Kemp and Peterson to SF, Giants pay the salaries. Thrifty A's get low minors fringe prospects. Who says no?
Anthony Franco
4:56
Giants should aim higher

4:56
I thought the Pirates had Davis in RF because he’s more athletic than Rodriguez, and therefore a better candidate to play somewhere else other than catcher.
Anthony Franco
4:58
Different types of athleticism, I'd say. Davis is faster, probably has a slightly better arm. But Rodriguez is a little smaller and moves a little better laterally while staying low to the ground
4:59
The latter type of athleticism (or flexibility, maybe more accurately) is probably better suited for catching. Davis' straight-line speed is a more natural outfield fit

Do the Royals sit tight and just let Barlow walk? I'd trade Hernandez, too. Pump some juice into the system where the 18 draft failed miserably.
Anthony Franco
5:00
I think they will trade Barlow. Agree they should move Hernández (or at least genuinely listen on it) but probably will not

Will the Cards get left out of the musical chairs game at this trade deadline?  Minor moves made, or something bigger, or nothing?
Anthony Franco
5:01
Pretty major short-term pieces to move in Montgomery, Flaherty, Hicks. Certainly seems like Carlson's a possibility
5:02
I wouldn't bet on anyone more valuable than Carlson getting dealt. It's major in the sense that they'll trade like 5-6 pretty valuable players but I don't buy the chatter about Arenado or Goldy
Cory
5:02
How hard is it for other teams to accurately value a player like Stroman (not even taking into account the opt outs) after his past month?
Do some teams ignore a handful of starts while oth
Anthony Franco
5:04
I don't think it's as hard with Stroman specifically. He's got a long MLB track record of being a mid-rotation pitcher who relies more on grounders than whiffs to get hitters out. There's inherently more variability when the ball's in play, so he's going to have some tough stretches. That his July wasn't great doesn't much change my evaluation of him as a player, just as his overperformance in the first three months wouldn't have
5:05
But broadly speaking, there are certainly players where it's tough. I think Shane Bieber (before the injured list stint took him off the market) would've been a great example. Still good, but clearly working with lesser stuff than he had when he was at his peak three years ago
5:06
Should you just assume Bieber's a #3 starter now or anticipate some kind of bounceback because we've seen he can be an ace if his velocity bounces back even a tick or two?
Cory
5:06
Now that we can see what the return for a back end arm is (Robertson), do you think Hader fetches a top 100 guy if the Padres decide to move him? Would a Norby for Hader swap sound right?
Anthony Franco
5:08
Yeah I think Hader gets a back-end top 100 type. Norby seems viable. Probably need another mid-level piece or two but I like that as a starting point

5:08
What would it take for the Astros to get Candelario and Trevor Williams from the Nats?
Anthony Franco
5:09
Pretty minimal value with Williams. He's a #5 starter making $6.5MM per year. It's not awful, not a bargain. Shouldn't really move the needle much
5:10
I think Candy's getting a high-upside 40/45 FV type. For Houston specifically, maybe that's Luis Baez?

think the sox move durran?

I do not
