In what direction do you think the Red Sox will go in the offseason now that Bloom is gone? Who's likely to be traded or cut loose and who's likely to stay> Thanks.

Top candidates for the Red Sox Ops position?

Have to run after this but I'll close with some general thoughts on the Chaim Bloom news

They did some good stuff -- drafted Meyer, developed Casas/Bello into good MLB players, hit on a lot of their bullpen moves -- but they repeatedly tried to thread a needle between competing and building. The Renfroe/JBJ trade, narrowly exceeding the CBT last year and handling of the deadline this year to a lesser extent were all instances where they avoided picking a definitive lane

That's not in itself a bad thing, but it generally didn't work. Blowing away market expectations on Yoshida is an open question. He's a good hitter, but the defensive issues are real and it's not clear he's a $100MM player. They mishandled the Bogaerts extension negotiations last spring

It wasn't a categorical disaster, but I also don't think Bloom was held back by ownership the way some people have suggested. That was probably the case for the Mookie trade, but a lot of the subsequent moves felt like a front office that thought it was picking up marginal value in its transactions and ended up without a clear vision of what they wanted the MLB team to look like in the shorter term

As for the future, I don't think John Henry or Sam Kennedy even have an idea where they're headed yet. There's no need for a rebuild. They'll address the pitching and second base and make a run at it again next season
Thanks for all the questions this week!

Sorry for the ones I couldn't get to. As always, feel free to throw stuff at me on Twitter throughout the week
We'll do this again next Friday. Enjoy your weekends!
