Most likely to make the All-Star game as a starter from the group you mentioned though? Probably Garcia, then Kopech
Rangers13
3:27
Chris Young calls you up and asks your opinion on off-season additions, who are your first five names you suggest via trade or FA with a check of between 250M-280M future commitments to pay them?
Anthony Franco
3:30
Two upper-tier starters: Rodón/Kershaw for Texas, I guess. Then a solid middle reliever of your choice, an outfielder (maybe Haniger if he doesn't get a QO from Seattle) and a defense-first backup catcher
I don't expect them to actually do all that, to be clear
Rangers13
3:30
If Rangers put Adolis Garcia, Duran, Crimm, Zavala, Acuna in a trade pkg would that get Alcantara or some grouping of Lopez, Sanchez, Rogers, Cabrera and Cooper?
Anthony Franco
3:31
Nah, Miami's not trading Alcantara and that's too light for the second group you suggested
Edgar
3:31
Another late bloomer: HOF-er Edgar Martinez
Anthony Franco
3:32
I never knew this actually! Didn't have his first full season until age-27, huh
Yadi Fan
3:32
Does anyone ever break Yadi and Waino's record?
Anthony Franco
3:32
I doubt it
Brian Cashman
3:32
Should I hold firm on my offer to Judge and secretly hope he goes elsewhere so I can go hard after Ohtani or cave in and give Judge what he wants?
Anthony Franco
3:33
There has to be a middle-ground. Holding firm to 7/213.5 means you're just out of the market entirely. He's going to shatter that. I wouldn't give him $400MM if that's the asking price though
3:34
Somewhere in the 300-320 range is probably where I'd draw the line. If he beats it, then pivot
Joe J.
3:34
Is Zack Britton eligible for the post season considering he will only have a couple of weeks or so on the team this year?
Anthony Franco
3:35
Eligible yes. Whether they'd actually put him on the roster depends on how he looks down the stretch
Tigersfan
3:35
What do you expect the tigers to do in the off-season?
Anthony Franco
3:36
A bunch of lower-cost pickups to round out the roster without making any firm long-term commitments
A new catcher, probably non-tender Candelario and add a different infielder, a Pineda-esque starting pitcher or two to round out the rotation with Mize and Skubal hurt. Don't think there are any impact moves coming though
3:37
Aside from the GM hire, of course
RAGBRAI
3:37
We s Hader a top 3 closer going into next year? Or has this year’s hiccup taken the shine off?
Anthony Franco
3:37
No I wouldn't put him there. Díaz, Jhoan Durán, Clase all clearly above him just off the top of my head
3:38
Devin Williams too, probably a few more
Angels fan
3:38
Nice article about the young arms the angels have.  Could they package a few of them for an established star. Also who is waiting in the minors ready to come up
Anthony Franco
3:38
Steve wrote that, not me
3:39
Not that I disagree with his point, just want to be clear I'm not taking credit for it
He's probably a little higher on Detmers than I am, but generally speaking, all three of those guys are solid. I really like Sandoval
3:40
Could they trade any of them? I'd be surprised. They'd all have a fair bit of appeal -- Detmers/Sandoval in particular -- but you're kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul at that point, and it's not like there's a flood of great arms coming up right behind them
Astros fan
3:40
I can’t see both Click and Baker returning. They don’t seem to get along. What do you think?
Anthony Franco
3:42
Yeah I don't know. There's not as much effusive "GM praise for manager" there as most successful other teams do, but the Astros are pretty tight-lipped about everything so I'm not sure how much to read into that
If only one of them comes back, I'd guess it's Click. But they could very plausibly make and/or win the World Series this year and at that point, how do they not run it back if everyone wants to stay?
Rangers13
3:43
What would be the ask for Bednar from Pitt or Scott from Miami, Texas will need a closer?
Anthony Franco
3:43
Ask on Bednar's going to be astronomical. Scott's attainable but that's largely because he's not very good
3:44
Impact stuff but zero control
Hits Like Rays
3:44
Now that the minor league season is wrapped up, what's your analysis of Josh Lowe and Vidal Brujan's future with the Rays?
Anthony Franco
3:45
Feels like Aranda's surpassed Bruján at this point, Walls maybe has too since his glove plays as a utilityman. I kind of think he gets traded
Guessing they keep Lowe around and hope he hits enough to step in for Kiermaier
RAGBRAI
3:45
What does SD do with their rotation? Is anyone traded for help elsewhere? Seems Darvish and Snell and Musgrove are a good starting three.
Anthony Franco
3:47
Yeah but they're likely to lose Manaea/Clevinger to free agency. Guessing they keep the three guys you mentioned with Nick Martinez and Adrián Morejón as depth (although Martinez just looks better as a reliever and should probably stay there)
Going to need to add at least one arm from outside the organization. It's not as much of a surplus anymore with the two impending FA's and Gore already traded in the Soto deal

which of the many new rules will be modified first? My guess is the pickoff attempt limitation will not make it until June. Too easy of a rule to "game" by runners.
