What kind of deal is JT Realmuto looking at?
Anthony Franco
4:46
I assume he'll be capped at two years going into age 35 season but something like $16-18M annually. Still super durable, offense has picked up after a slow start. Remarkable consistency even into his mid-30s
THE most unbreakable record in baseball
4:47
With rest days, other load management concerns, and the likelihood of injury due to 100 mph+ wildness, I don't believe an everyday fielder, even with all the guards, gloves, and other padding/protections, will do it but will a "lifetime DH" ever break Cal's record?
(Apologies to the active leader but, Matt, you would have to play every day until, and through, your age-43 season to get there.)

I think Ripken's got that one secure, though I'll concede that most people probably felt that way about Gehrig until Cal did it. Really hard for me to see anyone getting close for all the reasons you mentioned though
Cy Young's complete games record remains the most unbreakable, however
Extend Leiter?
4:49
Jack Leiter is beginning to hit his stride and the cost of young starting pitching is only going up. That said, I would work on an extension if I was Chris Young. What do you think and if you agree, what would it look like? Maybe similar to Severino’s Yankee deal when he broke out?

Who’s the one offensive player Texas should go all in on.
Anthony Franco
4:53
1. Severino's deal's a few years old now and he was a year further in arb. I imagine Leiter's beating the Brandon Pfaadt deal, something close to Bello (6/55 with a club option for a second FA year) seems about right
4:54
2). Bregman at the high end, Alonso if they're a little more limited financially

Detroit's bullpen was shaky with Finnegan.  Does his injury lessen their playoff journey in your opinion?  Beyond Vest, there haven't been a lot of reliable arms coming out this year.
Anthony Franco
4:56
Groin strain doesn't seem too bad on the surface so I'm operating on the assumption that he'll be back for the playoffs. It'd be a huge hit if he's out beyond then, though. Agree that the bullpen's shaky and they're going to need to use it heavily in the non-Skubal starts

Independent of team, what player on any of the playoff teams would you like to see win their first world series?
Anthony Franco
5:02
This is a good one. Goldy and Realmuto probably. Not as illustrious but Quintana's had a great career and he's been around it a couple times. Assuming he plays a decent role in the postseason, he'd be a sneaky good one

Are the TWINS in full rebuild?
Anthony Franco
5:03
I think it's more of a two-year retool than a complete rebuild. They got a lot of upper level starting pitchers back in the deadline haul
5:05
Ryan and Jeffers should go this offseason, Pablo by the deadline. They're not going to be good next year -- the current bullpen is one of the worst I've ever seen -- but could be back around the playoff picture by 2027
Mariner Steve
5:05
In 2026 off season is it feasible for me to think the team could/would sign Aronzena and J Naylor. Moving forward I would like the Mariners to rest Raleigh twice a week at DH with Ford Catching. What are your thoughts?
Anthony Franco
5:09
I don't think they'll feel the need to go big to keep Randy into his mid-30s with the outfield talent they have in the pipeline. Keep him for his final arb year, make the QO assuming he has a solid platform season, and let him walk. Naylor seems more likely because it's an immediate concern with him hitting FA and they don't have a clear successor there after including Locklear in the Geno trade
5:11
Agree on the Ford/Raleigh plan. They've leaned super heavily on Cal for obvious reasons but he does seem to be wearing down a little bit and having Ford next year instead of Garver gives them the luxury to back off that a bit
5:12
Alright I need to wrap up here and move on to some stuff for the site
5:14
Not sure if there'll be a chat next Friday. Trying to sort out some scheduling stuff for the end of next week still. Steve will do one on Monday, at least, and I'll try to do at least 90 minutes the following week if we don't get the Friday one in
Thanks for all the questions! Feel free to throw anything else at me on X as always. Have a great weekend!
