Hey everyone, hope you all had a great week!
Pretty good number of questions today, let's get started
pro4pro32

Would you be shocked, if Shane McClanahan gets traded after this season? There seems to be a big injury risk with him, and the Rays made strange moves in the past, so they might want to capitilise on his great form, and maybe get Alvarez from the Mets, Abrams from San Diego or someone like that, since it seems to make more sence to build a team around young hitters.
Anthony Franco
3:30
I'd be pretty floored, yeah. He's controllable through 2027 and arguably a top five pitcher in baseball already
3:31
I get what you're saying about the injury risk, but this feels a little too out there, even for Tampa Bay
Astros fan
3:31
Mancini seems like a good fit for the Astros. What would he cost? Same question for Josh Bell.
Anthony Franco
3:32
Pretty similar asking price on those guys probably. Maybe Mancini fetches a slightly better return because he's a couple million dollars cheaper, but they're comparably valuable players heading into free agency
3:34
I like the Astros as a fit, which is probably apparent if you've read my last two subscriber emails. It's a pretty rough system though so you're probably looking at two guys from the back half of the top ten

Who could the Twins package to get either Montas or Castillo?
Anthony Franco
3:35
I think you're looking at a similar value return as what they got for Berríos last year, going to be a really strong package
3:37
I think it might be headlined one of the really good young players they've had kind of kicking around the majors but yet to really cement themselves as a regular. A José Miranda, Alex Kirilloff, Josh Winder type, plus some lower-level upside guys
3:38
Would Minnesota do that? I don't know. I'm skeptical on Kirilloff, and while Winder might be easier to swallow in a vacuum, pitching depth is the big concern there. Maybe Miranda's the easiest to part with?
Jazz
3:38
What’s your take on the report of team criticism of Jazz by the marlins?
Anthony Franco
3:39
Yeah I saw that, really can't offer much without being around the clubhouse
3:40
I love Jazz. His on-field presence is electric. He's one of the most fun players in the sport to watch, and he's really good
I have no idea what he's like behind the scenes though

Nate Lowe, Nick Solak, Bubba Thompson, Davis Wendzel, Dustin Harris, Tekoah Roby and Cole Ragans: enough for a what if Juan Soto to Texas?

Also, why does every Rangers fan want Chris Woodward fired? Will he be fired, or will he be here if we're a contender again?
Anthony Franco
3:41
Not close on Soto. Way too much of a quantity over quality thing, and they've not trading him anyways
I didn't realize there was such a segment of the fanbase that wanted Woodward out, although that's probably true of every team. I don't think they're moving on from him though, no

Brewers offence and defense is in a tail spin. Any chance they bring up one of the young OF for a spark?
Anthony Franco
3:42
Wiemer maybe but he's probably going to struggle early on because he swings and misses so much
Dylan
3:43
Who is more likely to win an award this year? Joe Musgrove for Cy Young, MacKenzie Gore for Roomie of the Year, or Machado for MVP?
Anthony Franco
3:43
Hmm, good question. I'd probably lean Gore, Musgrove and Machado in the order of likelihood, but they're all viable

What did you think of Tony LaRussa's curious strategy yesterday?   Score 7-5 Dodgers top of six, two outs. When Freddie Freeman advanced to second base on a short wild pitch, LaRussa opted to intentionally walk Trea Turner on a 1-2 count to get to Max Muncy.  Muncy followed with a three-run homer and the second guessers had a field day, with good cause?  LaRussa defended his position to the point of near incredulity that he was being questioned.
Anthony Franco
3:45
I really don't understand it. I wasn't watching that game and only heard about it through Twitter, so maybe there was something he saw that I missed, but I wouldn't intentionally walk anyone on a two-strike count

I ask this question every few weeks but who is your current favorite to win each league?
Anthony Franco
3:46
Haha have I answered Astros and Dodgers every time? I don't remember, but I think I may have
Still feel that way
Clay holmes
3:46
Do I have a legitimate cy young case? 1 run allowed in 26 innings. It’s not like relievers have never won the award before. Or is there zero chance because the BBWA sucks and I’m not a bona fide closer
Anthony Franco
3:47
Eh, I don't see it. Treinen finished sixth that year he had a 0.78 ERA over 80 1/3 innings for the A's. That sort of feels like the ceiling for a one-inning reliever now
3:49
Should Holmes have a case? I see the argument but lean no personally. It's not so much the lack of saves -- there are plenty of non-closing relievers who are more valuable than the ninth-inning guy -- but the innings discrepancy between him and, say, Gausman will be too big
Mets
3:49
Could the Mets think about trading for a 1B?  Its not as easy as people think so carting put JD Davis is not a real solution.  And who knows about Dom Smith
Anthony Franco
3:50
Alonso's injury would have to be more significant than it seems, I think
Ross Atkins
3:51
Are my deadline must haves the following 1. A starting pitcher to replace the injured Ryu and or too streaky Kichuci?  2. An 8th inning flame thrower to augment my mostly pitch to contact bullpen 3. An OF who hits better than Bradley Zimmer?
Anthony Franco
3:52
Yeah that all feels about right. I'd maybe flip the reliever and starter in order of priority, but I think those are the three areas they'd most want to upgrade
DH
3:52
Do you the Dodgers going after Judge and not tendering Bellinger. I just don't see much in Bellinger where he is worth 20 million.
Anthony Franco
3:53
Yeah not crazy. I think Bellinger's a likely non-tender barring a big second half, yeah
I'd still take the Yankees over the field on Judge, but the Dodgers would be one of a handful of teams that wouldn't shock me if they nabbed him
Frank
3:53
Have you noticed the batters with good potential who seem to fail in Seattle - Jeff Clement, Dustin Ackley, Jesus Montero, Justin Smoak, and now perhaps Jarred Kalenic.  Puzzling, because they seem to cover different coaching groups.
Anthony Franco
3:54
Yeah I think it's mostly bad clustering luck since, as you mentioned, it has spanned multiple regimes
