Hey all, the NFL's March news frenzy is nearly upon us. Fire away any questions you have
tired Bronco
3:20
Is there ANY advantage to Denver continuing with the Russell Wilson charade rather than just cutting him now?  I mean, everyone knows it's happening and I'm miffed why it hasn't happened already.
Sam Robinson
3:23
The Broncos have indeed made it clear Wilson will be a Denver two-and-done, but they have to wait until March 13 to make this cut official because it will be a post-June 1 release. The astonishing dead money coming ($85MM) essentially requires the team to spread out the cap hits over two years
3:26
Teams no longer have to wait until June 1 to make these type of cuts, but they have to wait until the start of the 2024 league year to do so. And it looks like the Wilson news we all expected is coming as we speak
Draft guy
3:29
Lots of chatter that this is the best WR draft class in decades - how would you rank the top 3-4?
Sam Robinson
3:33
Yeah, the college game keeps cranking out ready-made WRs. Seems not that long ago WR development took longer. I'd go Harrison as the clear 1 before Nabers, Odunze. A three-WR top 10 appears firmly in play
3:34
Given the QB needs elsewhere atop the draft, Cardinals in perfect position to reload there

Washington has the most money to spend in free agency, and 5 picks in the first 100. Should they trade up, stay put, or trade back in the draft and which quarterback should they take if they stay at 2, Maye or Daniels?
Sam Robinson
3:47
Would vote against a trade-down move; a few teams in this draft wish they could grab one of these QBs without forking over huge trade packages. Big opportunity. And Washington could not realistically choose a QB the last time it was at 2 due to taking Haskins the previous year. Probably Daniels
3:48
Bears also seem unlikely to let Kliff reunite with Caleb Williams. Trade cost -- even going from 2 to 1 -- just seems too high
Bowers' agent
3:48
Is Brock Bowers really a surefire top-5 TE?  Last time a TE was this hyped, Kyle Pitts went 4th overall and we were told he'd be in the hall of fame. It hasn't worked out that way, should we be leery of Brock too?
Sam Robinson
3:53
Top five probably a bit high, with Pitts as a bit of a cautionary tale (though, not giving up on him just yet; ATL's QB situation has surely held him back a bit). Top 10, I do like it because of Bowers' three-year body of work as Georgia's top target. Not too common for a college TE to go that long in that role

Yay or nay, Eli is a hall of famer?  I say nay.
Sam Robinson
4:06
Those will be some divisive debates, as I don't think it's a first-ballot move despite his high profile. I have to lean yay, though I get the nay argument. Eli's performance on the two Super Bowl runs he led, with less-than-elite skill-position groups, against the competition those teams beat should matter significantly

What sort of contract do I get, and do I have any chance of another starting gig?  I may not be a top choice but I feel like there are not 31 better QBs in the world!
Sam Robinson
4:17
This may still be accurate, but wow did it not go well in Vegas. There may not be many seats available, with CHI, WAS and NE eyeing QBs in the draft and the likes of Cousins, Mayfield, Fields and now Russ available for the other non-Raiders QB-needy teams (TB, MIN, DEN, maybe PIT). Compounding your problem is a glut of QB2- or bridge-type options (Brissett, Darnold, Tannehill, Minshew) set to be available
4:18
Don't think Jimmy does too well. With Fields, Cousins and Baker set to start in places, musical chairs could stop without him getting a QB1 gig. Likely a midlevel backup contract

I know it's early, but which team(s) do you think will surprise next year?  Not necessarily be great, but to outperform expectations?
Sam Robinson
4:23
Curious if the Falcons -- their Belichick sidestepping notwithstanding -- can land Cousins to help their top-10 skill draftees. The Roman hire seems questionable, and they do have cap issues...but the Chargers have to get more out of a Herbert-led operation under Harbaugh

Will wrap up the chat with that. Good questions. Thank you for continuing to support the site. We really appreciate it. Have a good week
