Hi FSYers! I'm the residential director for FSY this year! I'm super excited to meet you all on Tuesday! Here are some things to keep in mind while you pack. 1) bring rain gear!! New Haven has some torrential downpours so make sure you bring an umbrella, rain jacket and some rain boots. 2) bring some sweaters. While the weather will mostly be warm (t-shirts and shorts), there will be some chillier nights. 3) one fancy outfit (suit/dress/heels/dress shoes/flats etc). 4) bathing suit and beach towel (or whatever you feel comfortable getting wet in). 5) most of your outfits should be good for 70/80 degree weather. 6) active wear for events like ziplining.          Also anything that you are missing you can pick up from target. Some popular target items are hangers, mirrors, fans, laundry baskets, tide pods, etc.

You're free to roam around Yale, there's no curfew. But you should notify a counselor if you're planning to leave campus.

The weather can be a little bit all over the place! I would prepare for nice, sunny, hot weather (and sometimes humid) but also chilly evenings and rainy periods! It's also pretty windy sometimes

Laundry is $1.50 per wash, $1.50 per dry, and yes you will need your own detergent! We will be having a trip to Target though in the first week

No, you will need to wait until the fall semester to set up your own PO Box.

Will we also get meal cards for FSY, and will those function the same for the fall or no?

Your Student ID will be your meal card, and it will function the same during the school year.

The classes you will be taking during FSY (ENG114 and the QR course) are actually Yale classes condensed to fit into the 6 week program. You will be earning 1.5 Yale credits that count to your Yale degree. I would recommend taking these classes seriously :)
