Why do people not trust Vince Williams? I know he's not as good as Timmons but when he had the chance to play, he played solid. I remember a game he had like 15 tackles and was all over the field a could years ago. You could do a lot worse than VW.

Why does brinksmanship seem so prevalent in contract negotiations? I don't understand what makes late summer more attractive to get deals done vs spring, when everyone has free time to iron out the details. Thinking of Al, Tuitt, and Bell this year, though plenty of previous examples (Hines and Bettis are notable older examples). Brown's deal this year was a big exception to that rule.

Whats the big deal to you or anyone if they sign now or sign before camp. All that matters is if they get the deal done. I'm going to say this for the 1,000th time -- I think they know what they're doing. Their record speaks for itself and needs no justification.

Gerry, I believe the Steelers overworked Bell at times last year. Do you agree? Do you believe it contributed to his groin injury? Why have a competent backup if you are not going to use him obvious situations?

I don't know if that's the reason for the groin injury, but I do think they should not give him as many snaps in the first half of the season.

People seem to be forgetting about Justin Hunter. Why is that? When I hear talks about who is going to make the team at WR I hear AB, MB, Juju, Eli, and then I see it as Hunter, Coates, and DHB fighting for 1 or 2 spots. What's your take on Hunter?

I didn't forget about him. I didn't include him on the WRs I think are battling for the sixth and final spot. I think he will be one of the five, but we shall see. If he isn't, I believe Ayers makes the team as a backup to Eli Rogers in the slot.

You seem to be ready to make positive statements about some players like Sutton and JuJu, but then others you are saying "wait until camp." Is it because the others haven't really stood out yet? Or perhaps the WR/CB position is easier to evaluate in OTA's?

No its because some of the things they do -- like catching the ball -- are very tangible and easy to evaluate.

He is an outside guy. But look, it's OTAs, mincamp and eventually it will be training camp. That's when they try guys at all kinds of spots. But he is an outside guy.

Are the Steelers hoping that Dobbs can pick up the offense ala Prescott and supplant Landry as the backup? Obviously they want him to be successful but do you see that happening?
