Do you think the Steelers should have interest in penn state coaches Manny Diaz and/or Mike Yurcich ?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
Uh....no
JW
10:13
Don’t have the stats, but did over the middle passes increase substantially in the 4th qtr?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Because of two back-to-back completions on the final drive? Just a small sample size. The answer is no.

Thank You for all you do to keep Steelers Nation updated - especially enjoyed your coverage during the recent loss of Franco 😇

Najee is finally running like he's possessed which is great to see, but yet the undrafted Warren looks like he has the makings of a feature back. While I'm not anointing Warren to the pro bowl, and Najee has more talent, do you think in hindsight using a first round pick on an RB where there is value later was a mistake like most self-proclaimed draft experts proclaim.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I agree whole-heartedly, but I'm not going to say Warren is a feature back. I think you're getting ahead of yourself. But he has been very good. Love the way he runs -- right to the hole at 120 mph

10:15
What am I missing? We block and run effectively at Baltimore, play tough defense, no turnovers, look like an offensive juggernaut on the last drive. But only 1 TD? Why did it go down this way?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
In case you haven't noticed, it's been going down that way. That's the seventh game in which they've scored only one TD. But, to your point, they have been moving the ball very well up and down the field the last three or four games, even going back to the first Baltimore game.  nd I haven't had any big problems with the play-calling, not at all. They just haven't been able to finish.

Good Morning, please help me understand why the Chiefs vs Raiders game is being played on Saturday? Why would they schedule a game that  has direct implecations on the seedings for Sunday. This of course is now a "non matter" because of the Bills not completing their game vs the Benglas, but if the Bills would have lost (and I believe they were on their way to doing just that) and the Chiefs won, the Bills would have been locked in to the 2nd seed. That then would give the Patriots a huge advantage because the Bills would possibly now rest several of their top players. I just don't get it. They could have had the Jaguars and Titans play on Saturday and it would have had no affect on anyone. Can you help me understand why the NFL would schedule this way?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
It's Saturday in prime time. They want to put some game of interest there. What did you want them to schedule in that slot -- Houston at Indy??
Lenny from NY
10:21
Good morning Gerry. The last drive of the game the Steelers opened it up a bit and threw downfield. Before that drive and it seems all season, they really don’t throw deep. Why do you think that is?  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Cause they had to. But you're right -- they tried only ONE pass over the top all game. and that was a 31-yarder that was overturned because Diontae Johnson couldn't get his other foot inbounds (again).
justin
10:22
Any Steelers' loss this season in particular you think should have been the win to make the difference between a guaranteed playoff game and hoping that other teams lose to get to the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Pick from 4 -- NE, Jets, Miami and first Baltimore game. But, if you had to pick one, I'd say Miami

Chances Pickett lobbies for Canada at EOY like Ben used to do for Arians?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
He has NO say in the matter. None.

10:23
What do you think is a better scenario for the Steelers, qualify for the playoffs and get some valuable experience for young core or a higher draft pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Playoffs. Even at this point, what's the difference if they are 8-9 or 9-8, in terms of where they will draft?? It won't matter but a spot or two

Gerry, This has been from an ideal season for the Steelers. However, the experience for KP & our younger players has been great.  The way things are progressing for both O & D units is a blessing for Steelers for next year. A solid draft & a few key adds & subtractions could put them back in contention as early as next year.
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Agreed.
Bill
10:24
Who was the knucklehead Steelers player who came off the bench in street clothes to celebrate the winning touchdown in the end zone and draw an unsportsmanlike penalty - AGAIN? Isn’t it on Mike Tomlin for not cracking the whip on this undisciplined behavior after the exact same thing happened in the Raiders game a week before?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
That's today's professional athlete.
Bill
10:24
If Presley Harvin were cut by the Steelers, would any team pick him up?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Probably
Bill
10:25
Who are the Steeler’s receivers next year and do they need another playmaker? Is Calvin Austin a legit slot receiver? Does Anthony Miller come back?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Forget Anthony Miller. Been here two years and done nothing. But, indeed, Calvin Austin is a guy they have some high hopes for. But, no pun intended, don't just slot him as a slot guy. He lined all over the field in college and rarely played in the slot. All that being said, I think you might see a WR drafted around the fifth around, only because they never turn their back on skill players.

Do you think #44 and #90 will work on JJ to try to get him to play one more year ? JJ at 75% should be better than any DLineman that the Steelers could pick up in the off season.
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Nope

10:29
Good day Gerry.    Is it fair to say the Steelers plan to use Mark Robinson more?    What's his future?   I still think they need upgrades to MLB for next season.   Clearly Bush isn't the answer and Jack has been serviceable.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
More than fair. It might just be one more game to "use him more" this season, but rest assured the plan right now is he will be one of their starting ILBs next season
Dr Cornfedder
10:30
If the Steelers beat the Browns on Sunday to go 9-8, what letter grade will you give Mike Tomlin for the season?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Same as the record -- slight above average, C+
Chris M
10:30
You praised the last game heroics of Big Ben last year, Will you do the same with Pickett?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Already did pal
Harry Callas
10:30
Is Pickett’s late game success a result of the Steelers letting Kenny call the no huddle offense and abandoning the Matt Canada offense?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
The Steelers do not let Pickett go no-huddle and call his own plays and abandon Matt Canada's offense. OK.
Bridgette B
10:32
Is Frank Reich a realistic OC candidate?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
I hope so, but I'm not so sure you are going to see a change there

Thanks for the chats, Gerry. On a play during the Steelers' game, Pickett is rolling to his right being chased by a defender. He throws the ball which the defender had to see. The defender takes a step and pushes Pickett from behind to the turf. No flag! Are the referees selective, blind, or just stupid?

I have an idea. Canada should call the plays he calls in the last two mins of games for the first 58 mins of the game. What do you think?

The last two drafts and if you count Minkah as the top pick in '20 and whoever we get for Claypoole are adding up to some of the best in a row. How would you compare this cycle to others recently?

Gerry, does it matter that most of KP's passes are quite unattractive in the air, or does only the final destination count?  Spirals, or something approaching a spiral, are indeed aesthetically pleasing, no?

Gerry, I'm aging rapidly, but it seems to me that that the current Steeler's WR's would much rather have a great stats game, then win the damn game? Lynn and John seemed to actually root for each other back in the day, and actually thought that winning was the most important. Your fellow old-timer thoughts?

Much blame and calls for Tomlin's head when the Steelers started 2-6, but I hear hardly any credit going his way for their current 6-2 run. I love that he is the Steelers HC. Does he simply ignore all of the noise, or could he really not care less about it?

Gerry, in the last two weeks it would seem Pickett is capable of running a more aggressive series of plays during the last series of the game. Would it not be reasonable to assume he could do so during the first series...if allowed?

Gerry, am I sort of a head case that feels guilty about my overly generous compensation for kicking a ball through a couple of yellow poles? Thus, my post contract years are quite poor (though thankfully still lucrative).

Hi Gerry, Appreciate the forum! Do you think the Steelers current coaching system is predicated on having an excellent OC/ DC (for all teams also) as Tomlin doesn’t have as much Offensive input? Maybe this is too simple and obvious- I feel like we haven’t had those stud coordinators since LeBeau left.

I believe the Steeler fan and local print and on air media are spoiled. They believe the team should be in the playoffs, Super Bowl, every yr and can’t accept a rebuild or transition yrs. This is why I believe the national narratives on Tomlin and Cowher  are and were different then local. If you live in NY and Florida like I have you learn to appreciate being relevant. Compared to the local fan base who has no clue how it is to be a Jets or jaguars fan.

Those passes to Sims and Pickens on the last drive were pretty amazing, but could easily have been picks also. Shows the confidence the kid has. What do the Steelers need to do so he doesn’t have the sophomore slump? Get him better protection on the O Line?

Not that it matters, but that winning TD pass to N.Harris was actually intended for S.Sims -- I'd bet all 3 dollars in my wallet.  Did Pickett in the post-game ever admit to it, and do you remember if BigBen ever admitted to such a thing?  It takes mucho confidence to do so.

Hello, to follow up my first question about Saturday's game. I do agree to have a competitive meaningful game (like the Titans vs Jaguars), but the NFL shouldn't be scheduling games that would affect the playoff seeding for teams fighting to make the playoffs. The Patriots would have gotten a huge advantage with that Chiefs game being played Saturday. Ratings shouldn't matter when it comes to being fair and equal.

While watching the Bengals/Bills game last night, it wasn't lost on me how everyone CHOSE compassion, empathy, and understanding during a very difficult time.

Not one person was upset that the game was suspended, canceled, or that they might be inconvenienced in any way, shape or form.

We were ALL just concerned for the well being of that talented young man and his family.

We CHOSE those, because it's right, and it was BEAUTIFUL to watch EVERYONE praying for someone they didn't even know just seconds before.

Now imagine if we chose those mindsets on a daily basis.

Hopefully, we've all learned that, and hopefully it will recalibrate our collective mindsets.
