how suprised will you be when ben doesn't preform at all sunday night?  i don't think one half of football wipes away 4 lousy games!!! ok waiting for your one word answer
Gerry Dulac
9:53
Nothing surprises me. that's 3 words.

Do you think we will go after a OT with our 1st draft pick and a TE with our 2nd?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
Maybe. That won't surprise me if they take an OT or G with the first pick. But I don't think you will see a TE on the second round, maybe 3 or 4. I think you might see a RB in the first round, OL in the second, edge rusher in the third, DL in the 4th.

For the past 5 weeks the Steelers don’t seem to find it on offense until the 4th quarter. It seems they only seem to find it when they are forced to be more aggressive due to being down in the game. Is this poor game planning?  It seems they have to throw away the plan at halftime each week. I believe the Steelers should start out up tempo on drive one, but I worry the coaches will be too stubborn to do so.
Gerry Dulac

There is no question they start slow. They have shown the resolve to be able to come back from 10-point deficits in Baltimore and Dallas, 17 points vs Indy and nearly 15 points vs Browns. You might see them come out against the Browns on Sunday with up-tempo, Not a bad idea.

Hi Gerry, thanks for your great work. Greetings from Switzerland Europe, Steelers Nation is everywhere!
Now my Question: How impactful is the loss of all the Coaches for the Browns? Thank you very much and Go Steelers!
Gerry Dulac
9:58
The only loss that will really hurt them is their head coach because he's the guy who calls all their offensive plays every game. Having to have someone else do it for the first time cannot be a good thing. Thanx for the long-distance note!!

Why hasn’t Andy Russell ever been given any love from hall of fame voters?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
He was overshadowed by Ham and Lambert.

I tend to believe the lack of a running game is more of a schematic and philosophy than ability.  Running from shotgun without lineman in a 3 point stance, and only running periodically hurts the run game.
Gerry Dulac
9:59
I think your belief is close to the truth.

Gerry. Which ex steeler has the best playoff performance?  LB in KC or AB in TB? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Good question. You're starting to see AB get more involved with TB, so I'll say AB. Bell has not been a major factor for KC

Hi Gerry, thanks for all your great work. How pleased (or not pleased) were you with the play of CB Sutton und Layne in the absence of Haden? and did you notice som big CB shuffle in the absence of Haden? Thank you very much
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Layne got beat down the field for a sideline pass, but otherwise seemed to be OK. Same with Sutton. It's not as though Baker Mayfield was repeatedly torching the secondary. So they were fine I thiought.

Hey Gerry,

Do you think after watching Mason Rudolph throw the ball down the field on multiple occasions with success Ben is throwing the ball quickly to avoid the big hits? because all I keep hearing is the O line has not provided the pass protection to take the shots down the field but MS found the time.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Hey George, that idea Ben doesn't want to get hit is pure nonsense. Anyone who suggests that or thinks they know that is someone not worth paying attention to what they say. Ben is as tough as they come. It has nothing to do with finding the time.

Good morning Gerry and thanks for the chat....I don't know about you, but I feel much better about our back-up QB situation than I did a week ago......what say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
You should. Rudolph did a really good job. I remind people he is 6-3 as a starter. That's pretty darn good. Stretch that over a 16-game season and you're looking at 10 or 11 wins

Jerryson just got done with that Cobra Kai and speaking of a butt whoppin i think the Orange Crush come in and not only upset the Squeelers they decimate them at the joints. 20 years of beatings just paid in full right back sunday night.  I know deep down you agree.

I'm sure you have been asked this often, but why do  a good number of the national media seem to disrespect or discredit the Steelers? When injuries or Covid hit certain teams it's bad, but when the same situations occur in Pittsburgh its oh well deal with it. I think it's part jealously. I do know that many sports and business organizations would love to be run like the Steelers are. Thank you as always for your feedback
Gerry Dulac
10:07
You are right on both fronts, though I don't think it's jealousy. I think it's more ignorance. The Steelers are the model franchise -- of the NFL or any league. Their success speaks for itself. All those Lombardi trophies and Hall of Fame players are no accident.

Was the offense better with Todd Haley? Should the Steelers bring him back?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
They are not bringing him back

Hey Gerry, do you think Mason Rudolph played well enough to solidify his spot as Ben’s replacement? Or do you think that they will draft a QB early in the draft this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I think the plan is this -- if Rudolph has to be the starter when Ben leaves, they are OK with that. That doesn't mean they won't start to look for a franchise-type QB. You can make the argument Rudolph is the best young backup QB they have had in a long long time. Other than when Ben was backing up Tommy Maddox for 1 1/2 games.

Kudos to Steelers in finding Dotson, Highsmith and Claypool in a single draft. All of them have been meaningful contributors and show signs of meaningful upside. Historically, we have had less success in finding CB and RB talent in draft.  I understand scouts cover regions not positions.  If that is true, why such varied results in finding winners at certain posiions?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
That's a good question to which I don't have an answer. But I wouldn't include RB in there. They did draft LeV Bell on the second round not so long ago. And while I don't think James Conner is a No. 1 feature back, they did get him on the third round and he did make the Pro Bowl his first season as a starter.

Gerry, Mason Rudolph looked pretty good last week. If Ben does decide to step away this year, do you think the Steelers will look to draft a QB in the first round in April?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I think they are always looking for the best players at positions they deem valuable, and QB is one of them of course. That wouldn't surprise me if there was a player they really liked who was there near the bottom on the first round, I don't expect it but it wouldn't surprise me.

Hi Gerry, The Steelers seemed to have found the deep ball, but please comment on my thought that Rudolph may have a stronger arm and maybe more accurate arm than Ben on the deep ball, therefore the deep passing game may not have returned? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Dont forget what happened in the second half of the Indy game. That's what started some of what you were seeing with Rudolph. Kudos to him, but there's no point in making comparisons.

Will the Steelers utilize Dobbs on 9-10 roll out pass/run plays against Cleveland ?  What other wrinkle do you think the Steelers will use ?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
No. If he does play, it might be 4-5 times. But I doubt it. I don't see the Steelers taking Ben out of the game for 4-5 plays. Nor do I see Ben liking it if they do.

Fourth and 1 with game outcome on line. Who gets the ball Gerry?  Separately, what would be your play call?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Let me check with Fichtner.

Do you think the Steelers will target a QB in the first couple round of the draft?  I would say our top priorities are QB, RB and OL
