Ok kids, we're going to start our chat in about 15 or so minutes, so get those questions ready .... if you haven't already (as I can see).
10:49
OK, let's get started...GO!!

Hi Gerry. Thank you for your valuable insight! With a potential trade of AB that should yield some 1st round picks (or at least one 1st round pick), should allow the Steelers to use the extra picks to move up in the 1st round and grab impact players for the D. (Moving up may be unnecessary if the trade partner is already in the top 10.) With the largest needs being CB and ILB, I would like the Steelers to target Greedy Williams (LSU CB) or Devin White (LSU ILB). Both are elite and would help immediately before our SB window closes. What do you think sir? Will the Steelers show some initiative or settle for whomever “falls” to them?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
You raise a good point, but that is all predicated on if they trade AB and what they get for him if they do. But there is no question the Steelers need to address those positions immediately and repeatedly in the draft. But, if they trade AB, a wide receiver will become a immediate need in the draft, either with a No. 1 or 2 pick.

Why haven't they fired Butler yet?  I am holding out hope that they are waiting to see if Greg Williams or Vance Joseph don't end up with head coaching positions.  What have you heard?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
I don't think that is their mindset.
ADSteel

AB to 'Skins for Kerrigan and a first. Who says know?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
Kerrigan too old now
ADSteel

What would it take to sign and trade Leveon? If that can get hammered out, Lev for Patrick Peterson (who also allegedly requested a trade)?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
At this point, who wouldn't make that trade? Well, I
10:53
Ooops....Well, I'll you who -- Arizona!! They already have David Johnson, a Bell-type back with just as much production and fewer headaches (not to mention failed drug tests)

W/ Alabama ILB Mack Wilson deciding to stay in school, is it same as always, BPA at pick 20, whether that be LB, CB, S or OG?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
You can forget guard. That's not a priority. And they could use a free safety too. I think Sean Davis is better in the box.
Fineline
10:54
You were too generous giving Ben an A. If we excuse his league leading INTs because he threw more than anyone we should expect him to lead the league in TDs. His TD percentage was lower than at least 8 other starting QBs. Should’ve had at least 3-1 TD-INT ratio.
Gerry Dulac
10:54
Thanx for pointing that up. Next

I read that a former GB GM said he doesn't think the Steelers will trade A.Brown because of the cap hit, do you think AB will be a Steeler in 2019?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
No, but I don't rule out anything

Is there any scenario that you can see Butler getting fired? After all the defense gave up numerous last minute drives that cost the Steelers several wins? Not to mention there didn't seem to be many in game adjustments at all? Linebacker stick in coverage against Keenan Allen not lobe or twice it was more like a dozen times?!
Gerry Dulac
10:56
Their issues on defense go beyond coaching. A lot of it is personnel, especially at LB. You don't have LBs, you're in trouble.
Jacob

Hey, Gerry. Thanks for the chat! Everybody wants Butler and Smith gone. At a certain point, when do you stop blaming player and see other coaches doing more with less? We may not have superstars on defense, but the inexplicable schemes, miscommunications, and mental lapses have plagued this team's games for quite a few years now. The constant is not the players; it is the coaches. How is this excusable to the management?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
To a degree, you are right. But ask any coach in any league, they are only as good as their talent. I'm not disagreeing with your point, but those circumstances are the rarity, not the norm. And, one more thing -- it's not always but having the best talent. It's having smart players who know how to execute and don't make mistakes, even if they aren't the most talented athlete.

If Munchak leaves for Denver, do you think our OL play will see a decline next year? Or is the group veteran enough to maintain without? Could be a big factor if the OL suffers and we part ways with AB, because we will have to rely on more of a ground control game.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
You don't have to worry about relying more on the running game because that isn't happening, not with No. 7. And the O-line has enough veterans, and good ones, that I think they will still be good. But there is no way you can lose a coach like MM and think your unit will still be the same.

Gerry, will we ever really know what set AB off (this latest time)?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
There are many issues, many layers, to what's going on with him. But taking everything you hear should begin to give you an idea what the problem is with 84.
jRR
11:01
In your opinion, if we part ways with AB, assuming we will get a high draft pick in return, do we have enough on offense to invest it all on D? Or would we have to use one of those high picks on another Offensive weapon?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
If they trade AB, they will use a No. 1 or 2 on a WR, no question about it. I use as evidence what happened last year when they traded Martavis Bryant on draft day. They immediately drafted James Washington on round 2 because they needed a WR to replace Bryant. I haven't looked at the draft talent yet, but if AB is gone by then you can almost bet the top pick will be a WR. I say that with the understanding the Steelers will likely address CB in free agency.

11:06
Historically the Steelers have prioritized their cap space for signing and extending their own players.  As such, what is realistic in terms of impact free agents?  One maybe two players at market comp?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I think you might see a bigger splash in free agency. But, again, a lot of that will depend on if they trade AB and what they might get for him

Do you think Butler will be the Defensive Coordinator in 2019?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Yes

Why was James Saxon jettisoned?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Not sure. Neither are a lot of people there

Hey Gerry! Caught your post about a forthcoming assistant coach being added. Fair to assume this will be booth review/clock management specialist?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
I wouldn't assume anything. But there is no such thing as a clock management specialist in the NFL. Only with Rolex.

At what point does Tomlin's "the standard is the standard", or "I take full responsibility" fall on deaf ears.  The results/behavior on and off the field has under-performed.  Also, can you politely asked Mr. Tomlin to stop including the word "obviously" in every sentence.  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I'll pass that along. Did you see the letter to the editor the other day in which the writer referred to the words and sentences Tomlin uses as "nonsensical word salad?"

Do you believe Antonio Brown will be a Steeler in 2019?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
No
Alan

If the Steelers can get a 1st round pick for Brown, do you think they'd pull the trigger?
