OK kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes so get your questions ready.

OK, here we go.....

Good morning Gerry! Congrats to Donnie Shell on his HOF election today. Do you think this hurts Troy's shot at getting in this year or Faneca more? Thanks as always for the chats!!
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Big Ed, not at all. Troy, in my opinion, will be first-ballot selection. Glad to see Shell get picked. Too bad L.C. hasn't made it. 4-time Super Bowl starter.

Gerry, in your opinion do you think safety edmunds will improve to the point of dupree did this season or in reality he was overdrafted, not bust but not Worth first round either? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Well, that would be their hope. I think they thought there would be a bigger jump from year 1 to year 2 with Edmunds and there wasn't. But it's not like they're disappointed in him, either.

Read Gene Collier's article this week on Heinz Field selling out but seats not being filled. I wonder if they would consider making the seats black instead of yellow, they stick out like a sore thumb on tv.
Gerry Dulac
10:31
That still wouldn't solve the problem. Black or yellow, the seats would still be empty.

Great to see that Donnie Shell finally got into the HOF!  Troy and Faneca should be next....what do you think?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Faneca's going to have a really tough time now, more so than before. I think Troy is in.

What is your gut feeling on Big Ben coming back this season?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
He'll be back
Troy
10:32
Hi Gerry! Forgive me if this has been asked before...but do we know when Ben realistically could be throwing the football again? Late spring? Early summer?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Realistically, no. But he's supposed to have another evaluation sometime next month, which should be a better indicator.

If he would agree should the Steelers  try to sign Conner to an incentive laden extension  that would pay partially based on games played? He is quite good when healthy.
Gerry Dulac
10:33
He is good when healthy, but that's the problem -- when he's healthy. It's hard to invest in a guy who has problems staying on the field.

Gerry, I always enjoy your work. Thanks for the chat. It was painfully obvious this season the Steelers need a #1 RB & to improve the OLine. Hopefully, they focus on both needs in the draft. My question is will the head coach & OC make a true commitment to running the ball more effectively?  Or will the franchise QB get to dictate his preference for throwing the ball. Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
10:36
agree they need a No. 1 running back but I don't think that alone will improve the offensive line. If anything, it might work the other way around. But I will remind you and everyone, this team is built around No. 7 so I don't think things are going to drastically changed. However, we have seen many instances in the past where they have run the ball a lot when they are running it successfully. But the mentality is, and should be, throw early to run late. That was always Bill Cowher's mantra.

Hi Gerry...do you think the Steelers have any interest in hiring Bill Callahan as offensive line coach?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Because John Clayton said so? Now he's hiring coaches?

Division QBs are three rookie contracts, one around $30M. Two overall number 1s, reigning MVP and 39 year old coming off elbow surgery whose draft classmates are washed up.  Realistically, hasn't the window closed?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Nope. And don't put another year on No. 7

A few years back, after a brutal pounding in NE where the D gave up 50 something points, it became apparent that the defense had declined dramatically.  Im feeling similarly about the offense.  Its nobody’s fault AB is nuts, Ben and Connor got hurt, oline lost its toughness, but it feel like we need to make some real chamges beyond Foster.  Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
If you're looking for a complete overhaul, it's not happening. But there are some issues to be addressed, like at RB, TE, G, even WR.

Whatever happened to LC Greenwoods HOF candidacy? His name came up years ago but he’s never mentioned anymore.
Gerry Dulac
10:40
Not sure but he deserves to be in, I think, even before Donnie Shell, with no disrespect to No. 31.

Is the inclussion of Bill Cower in the Centenial Class more of a publicity grab or just another way to celebrate mediocraty.  While he was a good coach and maybe better than most is he really HOF worthy.   What are yiur thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
They are not yours.
Nate
10:40
Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats!  I asked Ray this question yesterday, but I wanted to get your thoughts, too.  If Ben's prognosis comes back negative, do the Steelers still franchise tag Dupree?  Or is that $16 million better spent on a FA (actual starting) QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
They are not going to spend $16 million on a free agent QB. Maybe a few less sheckles to get a No. 3 QB, but Mason Rudolph is their No. 2 guy.

So many fans seem to think Ben is either finished, or wont be anything like he was before the elbow surgery.  Are there a lot more people out there with medical degrees than I'm aware of?  I'm especially impressed since none of these people have actually examined Ben.
Gerry Dulac
10:42
It doesn't matter what they think. They are only living in their fears. Let's wait and see. Meantime, I will try to find out where they obtained their medical degrees.
Nate
10:42
Hi Gerry, If you were the Steelers, would you 1) move Feiler to G and have Chuks and Banner compete for RT spot, or 2) re-sign Finney, or 3) just draft a LG or even T instead? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Well, I think you might see all of those things happening.
Ryno
10:43
Conner has looked great at times when running the ball in the past. But he hasn't been able to stay on the field. Do you think he has a future with the Steelers, in some capacity, after his rookie deal expires?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
Not likely unless something changes in 2020.
Nate
10:43
Hi Gerry, who from PPG gets to attend the HOF ceremonies and game - you, Ray, both of you, or someone else?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:44
I attend every game and have for many years. I have also been at more HOF ceremonies than I can count. So, if Steelers are playing in the game, I will be there along with Ray and maybe a few others.

Good Morning Gerry, It appears from looking at a couple of mock drafts, a great RB will be available in the 2nd round. Do you thing the Steelers will make a RB their first selection in the 2nd round?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
Right now, that's a very good possibility.
