Gerry.....Do you see Loudermilk and K. Green being on this team in 2023?
Gerry Dulac
12:54
Loudermilk, yes. Green? Not so sure. They usually give a guy three years. If he hasn't done anything by then, he's gone. This is his third year.

You strike me as a writer and type of guy who laughs at the national pundit's weekly picks.  So, are the weekly picks a labor of love for you, or a dictate from management?  Inquiring minds want to know.
Gerry Dulac
12:54
I have only one labor of love when it comes to sports, and that's not it.

Hey Gerry, do you think that the Steelers will want to pair Addison with Pickett even though wr isn’t a top need?
Gerry Dulac
12:55
Nope. And, if they do, shame on them.

Hi Gerry my question is how are the Scouts rating the QB Stetson Bennett from Georgia. He seems like a good Backup in the NFL ( Steelers)?
Gerry Dulac
12:55
I don't know that answer. I'll know more of that stuff at the combine in February

We hear that the Steelers do things differently than other teams, but that has produced nothing but failure for a decade or so.  Time to change things up.  Rooney seems like he wants to keep the same personnel and philosophy.  I think it's time for him to go.  Any timeframe on when Rooney #4 might take over?
Gerry Dulac

I would not constitute four division titles and six playoff appearances in the past decade a "failure." I get your disappointment -- no playoff victories since 2016 for a franchise whose stated annual goal is the Super Bowl -- but let's not get carried away.

Hi Gerry.  With all of the hype about bringing in Tremaine Edmunds, the Steelers in all likelihood cannot afford a contract that he'll likely command.  That being said, with needs at CB, OL and LB, in your opinion what round order could you see them go after those 3 positions?

If the offense is not good again next year, would this heat up MT's seat for the decision to keep Canada?
Gerry Dulac
1:04
Depends if the season ends in a playoff spot, and, good lord, a playoff victory. But, make no mistake, no matter what happens, he has to be held accountable for the decision to retain Matt Canada if what we have witnessed the past two seasons is on display again next year.

Is there one position that the Steelers may use multiple picks??
Gerry Dulac
1:05
There should be. One of the lines of scrimmage, possibly.

People bash the Steelers for stability and for valuing “winning seasons”. Then they will cite teams on the rise like the bengals or Jaguars or Bills.  Do people not realize these teams had to have awful years in order to build up their rosters?  Do yinzers really want to endure 4-13 seasons so that they “might” win a Super Bowl in 2027?  I want to go further in the playoffs too but I would rather watch decent football year in and year out then once every few years.

Not sure why you keep ignoring this question sir but can you explain why taking a franchise QB (in their eyes) was a mistake over taking the 3rd-5th best OL or DL last year, when all 3 were positions of need? You almost never get a chance to draft a franchise QB, every year you could take the 3-5 best OL or DL. Look at this year for example…
Gerry Dulac

They got a franchise quarterback (your words, not mine or theirs) with the 20th pick in the draft. That's the bottom half of the draft.

Any chance the Steelers would give Mike Tomlin an ultimatum like Chuck Noll got if the offense is bad again this year?
Gerry Dulac
1:09
They won't be any ultimatums. Just orders.

I understand Mike Tomlin has not won a playoff game let alone a Super Bowl in many years, but I don't understand the vitriol some fans have toward him. If he was fired by the Steelers he'd have offers before he cleaned out his office. The Steelers are a great organization and the teams are always competitive. Imagine being a fan of the Texans or Jets. I think some fans are spoiled and feel entitled, and they should appreciate what we have. Am I missing something?
Gerry Dulac
1:11
No, you're not, but their past three embarrassing performances in the postseason (allowing an average of 45 points!!) and not winning a postseason game in six years should merit some amount of grumbling for a franchise who -- I will say it again -- has an annual stated goal of the Super Bowl. Not the postseason, the Super Bowl.

Hi Gerry - now that Canada is returning do you think we will hire someone to help him? He Needs Help.
Gerry Dulac
1:12
No, but I think they should. They need to hire a senior offensive assistant the same way they brought in Brian Flores to be a senior defensive assistant under Teryl Austin. Go bring in a former head coach who has EXTENSIVE experience as a successful NFL play-caller to oversee and assist. What's the harm?

Good afternoon Gerry! The Steelers and Coach T always seem to take care of their own and draft/sign guys connected to the city or franchise. Do you think that would help the case in drafting Joey Porter Jr in the first round? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
1:13
I don't know if it helps, but history has shown it doesn't hurt.

Hi Gerry, the Ravens are interviewing the whole league for their OC whereas the Steelers don't bother to interview a single person. Don't you think they can at least find out what other bright minds are thinking?
Gerry Dulac
1:15
The Steelers didn't interview anyone because the position was not open.

How many return TDs do the Steelers have on ST’s in Danny Smith tenure? Where does that rank? Thanks
Gerry Dulac

I don't know that answer off-hand. I'd have to go back and check. Sounds like a good project.

Has Tomlin ever once admitted that he made a mistake?  With anything (coach hires, play calls, decisions, etc.)?

Uh....hmmmm.....let's see......

Do the Steelers draft an ILB or OLB higher or neither ? Thanks
Gerry Dulac

Depends what they do in free agency. That will determine which will be a higher priority. But I don't place either any higher than fourth among their priorities.

I read an article that basically said the last several years of mediocrity were similar to the late 80s and with the pieces in place this team can start being serious like the Woodson, Lloyd, Barry Foster years.

One difference: The Steelers made the playoffs two of the past three years, in case you have (and the writer) have forgotten,

Do you expect the Steelers to make and immediate impactful signings when free agency begins or hang back awhile and look at the available second tier players like they have often done in the past?
