OK kids, let's get started. Good to be back

Gerry: do you think the Steelers will look to trade a 3rd or 4th round pick this year for a 2nd or 3rd in 2027 for capital to move up for next year's QB class?
Gerry Dulac
1:06
Anything is possible, of course, but what team would trade a higher pick for a lower one?

Hi Gerry, do you have a sense of how the new staff views Roman Wilson?
Gerry Dulac
1:07
I don't yet, but I don't think they plan to give up on him. He has a lot of natural ability that I think will still make him a quality receiver. For some reason, there was something Arthur Smith didn't like about him.

RIP Mike Wagner the unsung hero of the steel curtain. Condolences to his family
Gerry Dulac

Mike was one of my favorite people. Got to spend a lot of time with him on some of our promotional radio golf trips.

If the Steelers let any high priced veterans go, when do you think that will occur?
Gerry Dulac
1:08
Soon, like right before free agency, which starts March 11

Gerry: very sad to hear about Mike Wagner's passing.  Do you have any particular memories of him that you would like to share?
Gerry Dulac
1:10
Yes it is sad. Mike battled pancreatic cancer for a long time, longer than most ever do. My personal memories are the times we spent, like I said, on promotional golf radio trips

Gerry: I saw it reported that if TJW is traded before June 1, it would result in $64m of dead money this year on the cap?  I don't think that is accurate.  If the team trading for Watt picks up all of the rest of the guaranteed money on the deal  ($64m still to pay), wouldn't the dead money hit just be $30m of unabsorbed bonus that has yet to hit the cap?
Gerry Dulac
1:13
I'm not going to pretend to be a capologist, by any means, but according to overthecap.com Watt would still count $52 million in dead money this season if cut before June 1. Not sure what gets absorbed if he is traded.

Hi Gerry!  Is it worth moving up in the first round for a WR and give up 3rd and 4th round picks as opposed to staying where we are at and get one of the top 4 or 5 WRs in the draft?
Gerry Dulac
1:13
It is if you get a quality, high-end WR!!
Ryan

Hi Gerry.  I am excited for the new football season in 6 months.  A great coach and Tomlin left us a great team!  Go Steelers!
Gerry Dulac
1:14
I'd be careful about that "great team" stuff, not after another one-stop shop in the postseason.

Why do players who played with a teammate 20 years ago have to run their mouth about them now?
Gerry Dulac
1:15
I wish I could give you a good answer, but I don't believe you're looking for one. Your observation, though, carries much merit.
Jerry

Hi Gerry!  Sorry, hit Send too soon…. If Rodgers does not come back, what scenario do you prefer at QB?
Gerry Dulac
1:17
I do not prefer going out and getting another veteran. That just prolongs what the Steelers are trying to avoid.

Would the Steelers be in a better place today if they had embraced a rebuild 4 or 5 years ago? Will we be asking the same question in another 5 years?
Gerry Dulac
1:18
That's hindsight. But, they can call it or not call it whatever they prefer, when you look at the amount of turnover this team has absorbed the last 2 to 3 years with trades and FA signings, I wouldn't call that standing pat, either.

How would you compare Dan Rooney and Art Rooney as owners? Dan struck me as more visionary and decisive with a focus on winning championships. Art seems more cautious and worried about avoiding failure as opposed to finding ways to be a champion, particularly if it requires taking a step backwards first.
Gerry Dulac
1:20
I don't think Dan or his son ever thought about taking a step backward.

Good day Mr.D.  Are you planning on attending the combine.  Do you follow a set routine when there.  Are there certain things you look for, etc.   Also, any players you plan on paying closer attention to
Gerry Dulac
1:21
I am attending for, I think, the 20th year in a row. And I do have a set routine -- meet and talk with a lot of NFL people and go listen to some of the top prospects.
NY Steel

Do the Steelers trade an OLB for more picks?  I would think Highsmith and Herbig both have good trade value — a third round pick (maybe late 2nd).
Gerry Dulac
1:21
I don't think they have any interest in trading those two OLBs.

Odds of Rodgers coming back?

Better than not

Gerry, I keep reading that as fans, we should be happy that the quarterback whisperer Mike McCarthy is our coach, as he will get the most out of Will Howard. My question is what about unlocking any untapped potential in Mason Rudolph? Any chance that McCarthy’s offense is better suited to Rudolph’s skill set than the offense he has been playing in for the past 7 years? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
1:23
McCarthy's offense tends to favor all QBs, but Mason has worked with four different OCs in his career and I think he has already shown what he is capable of doing. Not sure there is anything left to untap.

How about a day 2 or 3 chance on Klubnick or Nussmeier
Gerry Dulac
1:24
I think I'll pass on Klubnick going that high, and so, too, will a lot of NFL teams, I imagine.

Gerry, thanks for the chat. Question: has any thought been given to moving Gainwell to a slot receiver? You could still utilize jet sweeps and inside handoffs for the run game. It just seems he’s a better receiver than a RB.
Gerry Dulac
1:25
None, I hate to say. They like him right where he is -- if he comes back

Do you think the Steelers have ever given you information for the purpose of creating a smokescreen?
Gerry Dulac
1:25
Not (cough, cough) that I'm aware of (cough, cough)

When a (nearly) whole coaching staff turns over like this, are the new assistants already in the building working on assessing roster and prospects or does it take a while for transition and join up to the new organization?
