OK, kids, we're going to start our chat in about 10 minutes so get your questions ready....

OK, kids, let's get started....

Hey Gerry, what is your ideal 2023 Steelers draftclass?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Peyton Manning. Aaron Donald. Tony Boselli. Ja'Marr Chase. But I think they will all be gone when the Steelers pick.
9:59
Oh....sorry. My ideal draft class would have two stud linemen -- offense and defense -- in the first 32. I wouldn't object to CB, but only if it were a top-tier guy. Still, the lines of scrimmage are more important than any others.

Good morning, what would be the draft value of QB Mitch T be, if the steelers had the opportunity to trade him
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Not sure. Probably no more than a third round, likely a fourth. But the only way they are trading him is if they want to reduce his $8M salary and he refuses and asks to be traded or released.

Is Trubisky going to the XFL with the other journeyman quarterback Paxton Lynch?  The XFL is like the boneyard for Tomlins projects.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
If you think Trubisky is an XFL quarterback, you weren't watching the past three games he played in 2022. Best QB play they received all season.
True This
10:03
Was Picketts 44% completions in the last game a culmination of him learning all year? How long will Tomlin let 44% be satisfactory in the coming season?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
You have become a QB critic and not a very good one at that
Bill
10:03
Why don't the Steelers, and other teams, simply copy Andy Reid's plays to improve their offenses?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
It's not that easy, but I wish they would. Maybe there are copyright laws.

Morning Gerry.  Could you see a cheap veteran CB or WR?  Or even MLB?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
They already have cheap veteran CBs, and I'm assuming you mean in free agency. WR? Miles Boykin falls into that category. ILB wouldn't shock me.

Gerry, are you expecting Canada to remove the training wheels and the offense to become a dynamic, entertaining juggernaut? The tools all pretty much seem to be there. Or more of the same?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
You are wishfully stretching it when you say entertaining ... and dynamic. All we can go on is what we have witnessed his first two years as OC. The rest is just conjecture and speculation. And he didn't exactly take the training wheels off an 18-year, two-time Super Bowl-winning QB now, did he? They only came off when that guy threw them off in the fourth quarter of games

How do you feel about the limitations of short quarterbacks in the NFL? An ESPN commentator said Bryce Young is only 5'10 1/2" tall despite a 6" listing and will struggle to see the field.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
That's the problem Kyler Murray has, among other things. And he's lucky if he's 5-11. But I like Bryce Young more than I do Kyler Murray

Hi G! Experts keep pointing out, Cam Heyward isn't getting any younger. While that is logically imperative, I haven't seen him slow down at all during at least 5 seasons right up to this point and his approach to workmanship and the game are tremendous assets in that I think. Is the worry purely age related, or have you guys seen or heard anything, that escapes the fans eye?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Nope, you're right on. His level of play is still outstanding. It's just that the Steelers have to be cognizant that's not going to last forever.
Marc from Germany
10:09
on an unrelated note: How on earth do you eliminate hot routes from a professional offense entirely?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Haha....beats me. Ridiculous.

Hey Gerry! I was wondering what the Steelers main goal is this off-season? I feel like by the time we are ready to contend the defense will be too old ala Steelers from 2009-2013. Then the cycle just repeats.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Their goal, they will say, is the Super Bowl, just as they do every year. But that is not very realistic. It should be just getting out of their own division, which is a lot more reasonable, despite the presence of the Bengals. The offense has been rebuilt with youth. It's time for the defense to catch up.

Morning, Gerry.  Any potential rule changes you'd like to see for the upcoming NFL season?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I'd like to see more uniformed application of roughing the passer penalties. And pick up flags when the penalty has no bearing on the play. And put the third QB rule back into play.

10:14
Good morning Gerry and thank you for taking my question. Are Art II and Tomlin too bullheaded to accept the fact that an additional offensive type of coach is not a good idea? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I'm with ya. What's the harm? They did it on defense the past two seasons. Why not on offense where it's REALLY needed??

$1.4 million for 96 urinals?  What are these urinals made of??
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Pee-wter, maybe

Good morning Gerry.  The Steelers Way is gone.  This organization went from playing with pride and heart to dancing and posing for end zone pictures.  The goal was always to win it all, now finishing .500 is good enough.  Major changes are needed at every level of this organization.  When will the next Rooney be taking over?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
That's the whole NFL, in case you haven't noticed. That's today's athlete. As for changes at every level of the organization, that might be going a little too far. Maybe when they go 6-11
Hi Brian
10:18
Hi Gerry - when do the Steelers start negotiating with their own FAs?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I'm sure they might have quietly done that already. The free agent signing period officially begins March 15

Good morning Gerry. After seeing what happened with the QB situation in the NFC championship game, and considering a longer season and focus on player safety, do you think the NFL will expand the size of the game day roster? Why not make the entire active roster active for game day?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I don't think they have to go that far, but, like I said earlier, bring back the third QB rule to prevent what we saw in the NFC championship game. I think you will see that happen.
Hi Brian
10:22
Would the Steelers be better off trying to bring back Hargrave or Larry O than using a high pick in the draft?  LT, LG, CB, and ILB seem like more significant needs for their first four picks, given they can roll out a reasonably decent DL to start. How about addressing depth in the 4th round?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Hargrave will command a decent buck in free agency, so I don't expect that. More reasonable to think they will try to re-sign Ogunjobi, provided they are satisfied with him medically. All that being said, it doesn't change what I have maintained since last season and will continue to do so -- games are won on the lines of scrimmage. ILBs, CBs and safeties benefit from a dominant defensive line, not the other way around. QBs, RBs and WRs benefit from a dominant offensive line, not the other way around. It's time to pay attention to that at the top of the draft.
Hi Brian
10:25
Hi Gerry - would Jack/Chucks/W.Jackson be open to restructuring or do they just do that with the highest paid players?
