Hi Gerry. Any Steelers free agent signings that you’d like to see that would move the needle for next season? Also, with Tomlin now gone and based on poor recent results, do you think there will be a shift from less expensive, older free agents on the downside? Thanks!

I sure hope so. I think they need to go back to their old ways of signing UFAs who are coming off their first contract and still have an upside. This idea of bringing in 30-something players is hurting them long term. I know why they're doing it -- because they believe these guys might help them finally win a playoff game. But it's usually a short-term solution with no long-term benefit

Since the QB class is weak and the Steelers have obvious need at WR, will that group be getting most of your attention this week? Not sure how much you get to interact with the players but can you get any indication of where their mind and attitude is vs just physical skills?

Other than a 15-minute interview session, we don't get to interact with any players. But WR and QB will be getting a lot of the Steelers attention this week.

I think Porter will for sure. They can't extend everyone. It's tough to extend a backup like Herbig.

I actually though they could last season. I thought they could be 11-6. They almost were. But we'll see. Still not sure how QB will play out

Possibly, but I don't think they're ready to push the panic button just yet. They've known all along his recovery would take some time.

If Caleb Downs falls out of the top 10 do they move up to get him? According to AI going from 21 to 11 would take a first, a third, and a fourth or fifth. Given the multiple picks they have in the third and fourth I’d do it.

Hi Gerry. Do you believe Payton Wilson can play strong safety? He's probably one of the fastest and athletically gifted players on the team. I believe he would play as well as Hamilton. The knock on him coming out of college was him not being a run stuffer.

I believe the Steelers must get an Aaron Rodgers decision prior to free agency. What receivers will come here without knowing who the quarterback is? What quarterback will come here not knowing if Rodgers is playing. It is irresponsible if the Steelers allow this to happen!
