I still think the Steelers need a starting quality DL in this draft or one that will eventually be a starter. Agree or Diagree?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
I think they did that last year with Harmon and they really like Yahya Black. But I wouldn't argue (with you) if they did.

If Allar had gone to a smaller school like Ben and not played and struggled in big games, would his projectable skills completely changed his draft stock?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
No, he's still the QB who under-performs badly in big games. Unlike what Will Howard did

Other than a change in the rah rah coaching staff will changes in the play calling be over and above Tomlins staff? Do we win a playoff game with it? If so, why did we keep Tomlin and his personnel for so long?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Because he won games??

After 2 seasons have the Steelers received full value on Queen’s contract?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I think so and I'm surprised at the amount of people who don't think so.

Gerry do the Steelers draft the running back from Navy that’s from Pittsburgh either late or undrafted free agent i think they should
Gerry Dulac
10:11
They have RBs

Gerry, with multiple 3rd round picks, why not take a flyer on Drew Aller if he's available?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
No thanks

  • Zero Wins in Over 9 Years: Despite making the playoffs in 5 of the last 6 seasons (2020–2025), the Steelers are 0–5. Their last postseason victory was in January 2017, marking nearly a decade of immediate exits.
  • Defensive Surrender: A franchise defined by "Steel Curtain" defense has allowed an average of 35.8 points per game in their last five playoff appearances, resulting in a staggering total point differential of -84.
  • First-Half Collapses: In 4 of their last 5 playoff games, the Steelers were effectively out of the contest by halftime, including a historic 28–0 first-quarter deficit against the Browns in 2020 and multiple 21-point deficits in 2023 and 2024.
Does this scream better than mediocre?

Bill, you're bringing up old news.

will Steelers be hesitant to sign FA because of the possibility it could help another team get picks to move ahead in next years QB draft?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
No. Not at all

Is BJones likely to not get a rookie 5th year with the most recent news.  If so, is this a need area in the draft?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
It is more than highly unlikely....

Hi Gerry, given that the Steelers have a lot of cap space (~$45M) is it possible to have more or all of a player's signing bonus count against this year, providing future relief?  Or is it always spread out over the term?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
It's pro-rated over the life of the contract. And usually it works the other way, where salary is converted into a signing bonus to provide cap relief

Gerry, when it comes to personnel decisions ( draft, free agency, who to extend) etc. was Mike Tomlin the loudest voice? when he and the GM disagreed, did AR2 side with the HC more often than not?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I have never known it to be one voice louder than the other, but I'm sure when Omar Khan was new to the job Tomlin had a little more say/sway. And AR2 is the final voice, but only if there is some reason he doesn't want a player because of other issues

I don’t get this drumbeat around Steelers reporters/fans that Metcalf is not a number 1 receiver. I always envied him from afar and could not believe her became a Steeler. Is there any other WR in football with his combination of size and speed? His contested TD catches in the end zone especially early in the season required strong hands. He had some drops – especially that awful one against Housten. But he was the only downfield threat on the team. He was double and triple teamed all the time. My belief is that if we can get a first round WR on the other side, he’ll be a true #1. What am I missing?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I get your point. I've always thought he was somewhere between a No. 1 and No. 2 -- not quite the big-play receiver as a Justin Jefferson but better than most if not all No. 2 WRs.

.This QB dilemma is maddening, but which makes more sense. A stud QB making a mediocre offense look good or a stud offense making a mediocre QB look good? I tend to think building that stud offense comes first. Add the QB later.
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I have always believed, as do most coaches, that a good quarterback makes average receivers better, but good receivers don't always make an average QB better

32 teams passed on Will Howard 5 times in the draft. What do your readers know that they don't? They don't play Akron and Grambling state in the NFL.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
That's just it -- they don't.
Bucco71
10:21
From year to year are the chats mainly the same only with different players names inserted?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Starting to catch on to that, eh??

10:21
Will the McCarthy hiring define the Khan tenure as GM?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
No

10:22
The Steelers should adhere to the mist and the mist says draft round 1 WR, round 2 OL, round 3 pick A WR, round 3 pick B DL and round 3 pick C
Pick C CB. Sorry about the screw up Gerry. What do you think of my misty pick strategy.
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I think it's not bad. But I wouldn't put OL in Rd. 2. And I might move CB up a pinch. Maybe

The more I listen to sports talk radio the more I miss Stan Savran…..just sayin….

10:23
If Rodger’s comes back AND they draft a QB, is that the end of Mason as a Steeler?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I don't think so because then you would have two unproven QBs as backups. But we'll see

What do you think we will do with Ramsey?
