Last year we hear all the talk that Tomlin might of had one of his best seasons last year. I find it crazy that the Steelers had to play a few games with a QB like Hodges in the middle of a playoff run. Once Ben went down early in the season how or why didn't Tomlin and company look to pickup a vet QB in case Mason stumbled or got injured. If we had any capable QB we most likely don't lose 3 games to end the year and we make the playoffs. I coach baseball and one of my pitchers just had surgery yesterday on his shoulder. I started making phone calls to fill in for him months ago once I heard about his surgery. I just can't believe the Steelers didn't see how life would be without capable backups.

There are no negotiations, only a matter of when they can use the franchise tag. That was supposed to be able to happen yesterday but everything has been delayed because of the CBA stuff

WHy are people saying Ben looks huge? I think he looked GREAT considering he hasn't played since week 2, and he's always been a big, hard-to-bring-down QB....

Are they just haters?

How would you compare the step down in quality from a team’s starting QB to the backup vs. other positions.  It seems to me that it’s much bigger.

Some times, some places, it is, only because the position is so important. Look, teams are having a hard enough time finding their starting quarterback, let alone a quality backup.

appreciate your chats Gerry - hate to lose Hargraves but I believe a cheaper more traditional NT ( Billings , Damon Harrison ) allows for more 2nd and longs . That should help improve our defense immediately.

I don't know that the defense will be improved if they lose Hargrave, but it won't be devastated by any means.
