Tell me its true? Is it close to over like ESPN and NFL.com are reporting? Seems to me the only true fit right now is the Raiders.
Gerry Dulac
11:20
It's not close to over, but it could be getting closer, which is what the Steelers would ideally prefer. As I stated earlier, it makes sense because the Steelers don't want to give interested teams more time to think it over or wait and see what happens in free agency.

Metcalf's size reminds me of David Boston when he came out. Is there a more recent comparable than Boston that I'm overlooking? Boston had an ok career but couldn't stay healthy after his first few years, almost seemed like he was too big.
Gerry Dulac

Boston never ran like this guy -- 4.39

Given the reports today, what are you expecting in return as compensation?  Washington is quiet but sources seem to be indicative of them acquiring Mr. Bighead, would they really offer us their first round pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
It's very possible. The key here for the Steelers is having multiple teams interested in AB, which there seems to be. That's the only way the asking price gets driven up. And I'm sure that's the reason the Steelers want to move on this quickly -- because there are multiple teams interested right now. The Jets have been the most interested and you can see why -- they have no receivers for Sam Darnold. But they also have only 5 draft choices, no No. 2 and little offering options

Gerry, if we manage to get a high pick for Brown (late 1st/early 2nd) how willing would you be to use the ammo to move up for White? Or go with the many is better than one?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
That, to me, is the smart move. Go up and get what you want. They have to if they want to find the missing pieces for that defense....and they know what they are!!
Not Mr. Big Chest
11:24
Gerry, thoughts on the Steelers possibly trading with Raiders for 27 and picking up Bush at 20 and Aj Brown at 27???  Sign Barron, Weddle & Hogan and call it a day!  Am I dreaming?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
I suggest you go back to sleep and keep dreaming
Jud
11:25
Seems reports say that this team and that team are not interested in AB.  What's the cap at the bottom of the market that the Steelers won't accept below?  2nd rounder? 3rd rounder?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Depends how many teams are bidding. The more teams, the better the offer
Paul from Louisville
11:25
With how you navtive we are in free agency, do you think wr can get all out needs met with just the draft
Gerry Dulac
11:25
It could sure help
John
11:25
How many free agents do think the team signs that will be starters, not depth.  Seems if there was any year to break from norm, this year is one
Gerry Dulac
11:26
They need to sign a STARTING cornerback in free agency, not a depth guy. A guy they know will line up with Joe Haden in the opener. I don't think they retain the same hope that will be Artie Burns.
Shawn
11:27
Do you think Steelers will get picks or another player for ab
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Preferably picks, but depends on the player. They don't want a backup
Andrew
11:27
Do you think the Steelers will need to trade up to get devin bush and how much would they give up?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
I do but I don't know how much.
Jud
11:27
If we get a low 1st rounder for AB, do you think we would trade up for an ILB or CB?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I would!!
Smokey
11:28
I hear talk of drafting a d lineman.  Could u explain why that is a need.  I thought we had one of the best d lines going
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I won't argue
Jud
11:28
Do you get a lot of off the record information as it relates to contract negotiation / salary demands?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Sometimes
Whoha
11:28
When AB is traded, what will it do our cap this year (With Bell, Brown & Shaziera contract not on the books)
Gerry Dulac
11:28
He will count $21 million against the cap this year if he is traded. So that's how it will affect the cap this year
Ken
11:29
If Steelers get a 1st rounder for AB (probably Oakland's 27th), attempt to trade up by offering 20th and 27th to get an impact player even if deal needs sweetened with later round pick. I would love to see Bosa bookended with Watt.
Gerry Dulac
11:29
They won't go up that high and Bosa isn't a target
Terry
11:29
Jesse James has great stats for number of snaps, targets/receptions %, 56 games in a row, 1,000 yards combined with Vance and you still think the Steelers are going to retain him for little money, Gerry?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
No, he will go out on the open market and get decent money, a lot more than the Steelers will offer.
Jud
11:30
How much cap room do we have?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Not a lot.
OK, kids, that's all the time we have today. Got to go check on the bidding.
