OK kids, let's get started....fire away!

Gerry: It has now been reported that Kirk Cousins is Plan B if Rodgers doesn't come back so are we rooting for a "has been" as Plan A or a "never was" as Plan B to be our fifth straight year with a QB that the Steelers have no chance of contending with?
Gerry Dulac

The last thing the Steelers want to do is bring in another veteran starter, let alone an aging one. That is not in their plans.

Good morning Gerry.  Is Aaron Rodgers the Steelers QB when they get to Latrobe in the summer? If not, who do you think is QB1?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I think so. But the plan is also to go all-in on working with Will Howard
Josh
11:01
Are the Steelers ok going into the season with Spencer Anderson as their starting LG?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Right now, they think so. But I'm sure they will look into drafting one on the middle rounds

Has anyone had a better off-season so far then the Steelers?  Great players pickups. Even with Rodgers, this team has to be among the Super Bowl favorites next season
Gerry Dulac
11:03
I'll hold off on that Super Bowl talk, but, yes, the offseason moves -- Pittman, Dean and Dowdle -- have been good ones.

I am seeing a pattern - the Steelers fill their needs in free agency with veterans (often aging) before the draft, then they draft the very same positions. Then the draft picks hardly ever get to play and don't develop, they just sit and sit and sit because they lack experience. I find this frustrating. What's the logic behind this and do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Or they sit and sit and sit because they don't develop them. Or they just weren't good enough in the first place.

Gerry: in an era where Devin Bush is making $10m per year and Bob Spillane is making over $11m, does it really make sense to trade Patrick Queen for a 5th round pick as has been rumored when you would only save $13.3m of cash and cap space?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
No it doesn't.

11:05
How could the Cardinals have given Isaac Seumalo such a big deal - $ 31.5 million for 3 years - given his age and recent injury history?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
Because that is free agency and the desperate nature of some NFL GMs
Bill In LA
11:05
Gerry, your opinion and prediction please! Will Will Howard ever get a fair shot to win the QB1 job with the Steelers, or is he the new Mason Rudolph, someone to never really get taken seriously?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
No, he is going to get a shot. Their plan, as I stated earlier, is to go all-in on working with him and see what they have. They are not taking a QB in the first round because their aren't any after Mendoza. And the only way they are taking one in the third round (possibly the second) is if they believe he has a bigger upside than Howard

These signings/trades would have never happened with Tomlin. Do you think they load up on wrs like McCarthy did with the Packers? So far so good
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Why do you say that? The Steelers were at least active in FA the past two years with Tomlin.

Can you see a shift from defensive spending to offensive spending to the point where they might be the team spending the most in the league on offense, instead of on defense like they have been?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Yeah, because they need to. And McCarthy is an offensive-minded coach. They spent their money on defense. Time to do so on offense with skill players while they don't have to worry about a big QB number.
Josh
11:10
Are we seeing the Steelers set themselves up for another 1st round pick in the trenches at 21, albeit it either LG or DL?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Nope
Rooney
11:10
With the free agent pick ups do they go best player available now in a position of need? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:10
That's always the case.

The Ravens pivot quickly, don't they.  Hendrickson, if healthy, will be helpful to Baltimore and potentially add woes to an already sketchy LT position in the 'Burgh.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
Won't be the first time they've had to deal with such issues
Sethdaddy
11:11
How much better can Rodgers play  now that Tomlin and Arthur Smith aren't there to hold him back?  Mvp type season?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I'd hold off on that one, too!

Do you know when the Steelers will play in Vegas again?  It's the only time my wife will let me go without her and I need a Vegas trip!
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Eight years from the most recent time, more than likely
11:14
Cdub11:13Bill in LA must be proud.  Kenny Picket is an all-time NFL record holder.  Does it matter that the record is for most teams to start a career?
Haha
Jim
11:14
You are Omar and the choices for QB are LSU, Penn State, Alabama or stay with Howard who by the way won a National Championship
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Depends where I might be able to get one of those guys.
Tampa Too
11:14
Gerry. Your thoughts on the Steelers choices in free agency so far?  Also, do you think they should’ve made more of an effort to sign Gainwell?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I like the players and the positions they've addressed. They knew Gainwell was going to test the market, just like Seumalo, and probably leave. They weren't going to pay a backup RB the kind of money he got with Tampa Bay.

Hi Gerry, giving your a break from free agency, draft questions with a different qb question. I am in a debate with an old friend about Neil O'Donnell. My stance is people forget he was the team MVP in '95 and those interceptions in the Super Bowl were the result of a miscommunication with the receiver who ran the wrong route.  He disagrees, says it was O'Donnell's fault and he derserves the bad rap he received.   I also think the '95 version of O'Donnell would be pretty good to have on the current day team.  Can you put an end to the debate?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
You are correct.

Would you rather have Dowdle or Gainwell in McCarthy's offense and why?
