OK kids, let's get our chat started....

Gerry: Justin Fields got less per year than Dan Moore.  You never seemed to he that high on Fields, but wouldn't Fields at $20m and even a slim chance that he develops be better than say Rodgers at $40m per?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Dan Moore is a four-year starter at LT; Fields played six games last year and won only 10 games in three years in Chicago. We'll see how it pans out with the Jets. That being said, and to your point, Fields would have been their best option. I thought that all along. And Rodgers isn't getting $40 million a year from the Steelers. He's gonna be 42 and won five games last season. If they are willing to pay Rodgers that much, they would have made a better offer to Sam Darnold, who accepted $35 million a year from the Seahawks. That ain't happening

Gerry, are we lowballing Aaron
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Lowballing?? What the heck you think a 42-year-old QB who won 5 games last year is worth????

Whose to say that the Steelers would be better off with an aging 35+ year old QB who doesn’t move well in 2025? Do you think there any chance they see enough potential in Will Howard/Quinn Ewers/Jason Dart that they draft one of them and go back to being the Steelers again?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Yes I do Bill

Gerry: Joe Starkey recently ran a poll where over 80% of respondents advocated trading TJ Watt.  Would you extrapolate this result to meaning that more Steeler fans would rather see them try to build a championship contender by say 2027-28 instead of desperately trying to never have a losing season?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
That's what they say....until the Steelers start 3-6. And then the same people will howl even louder
Kevin
10:01
With the large contracts handed out to Garrett and Crosby, do the Steelers pay watt even though he’s on the wrong side of 30 or will they be forced to trade him and if they do trade him what do you think they get in return.
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Well, if they re-sign him, they will have to make some salary moves that could involve at least one of their high-priced players on defense

10:02
Prior to the “legal tampering” period, do you think its commonplace for someone on a team staff (or their wife) to informally tell a player’s agent they are interested and give a number so they don’t resign with their original team? (i.e. Justin Fields)
Gerry Dulac
10:03
I don't know that it's commonplace but I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen

In retrospect in your opinion, do you think the Steelers would have been better off had they given Kenny Pickett one more year to see if he could develop into a franchise starter? Or, do you think they had seen enough and were smart to bring in Russell Wilson to start?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Easy to say now. Poor Kenny, he made his bed and now he has to lie in it in Cleveland

Good Morning Gerry... Omar Seems like a wicked smaat guy... but it seems odd to let a young QB  like Fields slip away  and lean in to an older transitional QB?  I get win now.. but with DK getting a 5yr deal... is he playing 3 dimensional chess and they are after a QB they like and think can be the future in the draft?  Cheers
Gerry Dulac
10:05
They didn't just let Fields slip away. He wanted to test the market and obviously thought that would be smarter and more lucrative than what the Steelers might have been offering. Turns out, he was right, though that doesn't mean the Jets were right. But, let's be honest here, would you have paid $40 million for a QB who played six games last season and won only 10 in three years in Chicago??
Paid by Gerry
10:05
Gerry, please tell us the Steelers would not consider overdrafting a quarterback in the first round and leave the defensive line in shambles. After watching that dreadful. After watching the last two Baltimore games I don’t think many of us would mind DL on round one and two.
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I don't think that will be the case.
TJ

Hi Gerry, a little disappointed we didn't sign a good NT in FA. I thought if we did that drafted NT\DE and sent Benton to DE we would be in pretty good shape?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
They had their eye on the guy from the Jets, Javon Kinlaw, who is 6-5, 320, but he got away to the Commanders for a big deal. And no way were they in position to pay Milton Williams what he got from the Patriots.

Hey Gerry. Thoughts on adding Kupp to the mix?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I'd love it

Does signing Rodgers forever confirm that Rooney's objective is to get 9-10 wins and maybe win a playoff game once every 10 years, but not to ever really ever build a championship contender?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
No, it's more them trying to get by one more year until they can draft a QB
Kevin
10:09
A lot of analysts are excited about the pairing of dk and Pickens, but I would think it’s unlikely Pickens gets paid this offseason. Does he have one year to prove he can be professional or is a trade most likely coming?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Pickens is not going to get paid this offseason, not by the Steelers. But they better find someone to throw them the ball. They still don't have any QBs under contract.
Paid by Gerry
10:09
Would the Steelers consider unibrowed Joe Flacco? We know his agility is somewhere between Bernie Kosar and Neil O’Donnell, but man, he can sling that ball if provided protection. He would not cost much and would allow them to plug holes elsewhere.
Gerry Dulac
10:10
They might be forced to, but only as a backup. And I'd have no problem with that
TJ
10:10
Did we Butcher the QB position just as we did last year with WR? is sure feels that way.
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Butcher is a strong word. Misplayed their hand? Uh...yeah
Kevin
10:10
Surprised by the lack of investment in the d line, are the Steelers holding out for the draft with such a deep draft class at that position or have they made offers and players have just chosen to go elsewhere?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
It's more the latter. They were going to pay the type of money those guys like Williams and Kinlaw got in free agency. Not when they're already paying Heyward, Watt, Fitzpatrick and Queen

Gerry, I know there are always jokes/memes poking at the Steelers…thats just the nature of social media amongst fans & rivals.   But the volume of jokes aimed at the QB handling is beyond blush worthy.  I mean, Uncle Rico isn’t an option…just a joke, but sure does feel like we are truly grasping at straws here, no?    Is this Omar’s doing? Rooney? Tomlin?  How did the Steelers organization mishandle the post-Ben era this badly?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
No matter what they do now, short of signing Rodgers, will not look good. Understand, Russell Wilson was always an option, and, to me, not a bad one. Better than the ones they're considering now. He just wasn't high on their option list. But he was always an option and still is.

And.. has "Bill from LA" checked in yet on KP's brilliant plan to be come a Brownie?
Gerry Dulac

Kinda. See above

Gerry, in the big scheme of things does all this QB chatter really even matter? I don't think any of the remaining options  make them a legit contender.
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Certainly not a Super Bowl contender. To be honest, I don't think any of them did -- Darnold, Fields, Rodgers, Wilson. Anyone else we can name??

Any idea when this QB stuff will end? Do you think we get an answer today?
