OK kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes...

OK, here we go. Fire away

Gerry: can you shed some light on the NFLPA survey that ranked the Steelers last?  For instance is there any control over the voting being by secret ballot or are the players say sitting around the locker room voting together where a few me-first whiny "leaders" could influence the entire process?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
First off, I sincerely doubt that every player is taking part in this (or any) survey. They barely have time or like to vote for the Pro Bowl. The voting is conducted by each team's Union rep, which in this case is Cam Heyward. I would imagine the rep has some measure of control over the voting, so, yes, what you reference could be possible.

Gerry: in the corporate world there are a lot of executives that develop loyalty from employees to the executive and not to the company.  That type of leadership can damage shareholder value over time.  Tomlin got an A in the player survey.  Rooney got an F.  Was Tomlin this type of leader?  For instance did he openly complain to players about cheap facilities or poor treatment of families and position himself as fighting for more on their behalf?  It is otherwise hard to figure out the disparity in grades when to the fan base it seemed like Tomlin was running the franchise.  For instance, he fired himself.
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Tomlin is not the type to complain about the facilities, not when he was going to be paid $50 million over three years. And Tomlin did not and never did run the franchise. Maybe the roster to a large degree, but nothing else. And he didn't fire himself.

Gerry, with special teams captain and All-Pro Miles Killebrew gone, Connor Heyward gone, longtime coordinator Danny Smith out, zero splash plays last season, and the incoming coordinator coming from a unit that ranked lower than the Steelers in 2025 — do you see this group improving or taking a step back?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
There's plenty of room for improvement, that's for sure

Gerry, got to ask who do you like in the Masters?

Does the Dowdle signing make Warren a mostly 3rd down back? I think he is one of the top 3 offensive playmakers and hate to see him severely limited.
Gerry Dulac
10:00
No, it makes Warren the same as last year -- mostly the first down back
Charlie
10:00
will the Steelers be a pass more team then last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I would expect that with McCarthy and an expanded and improved group of WRs

Hi Gerry, long time Steelers fan from Belfast,  Ireland.  Do you think we're going offensive line first round Ioane or possibly best player available if someone like Thieneman is still there?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
The Thieneman pick wouldn't surprise me. Neither would an OL, depending only on which player was available. But I still wouldn't dimiss WR. They're going to take one high, just depends how high

good morning Gerry! We were told by Omar that they didn’t expect the Rodgers decision to go long into the offseason, and although it’s not June yet like last year when he signed, it seems to be dragging on once again. Don’t think we get any indication whatsoever by the week of the draft?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Their expectation of his decision was no later than the draft. I hope they stick to it, as does everyone else.

Gerry, given Kenny Pickett's $ 7.5 million contract to hold a clipboard, how can Aaron Rogers play for less than $ 25 million for the Steelers next year? At what price is Rogers too expensive?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
If he played for under $20 million last year, I expect it to be under $25 million this year. And that's cheap for a starting NFL QB not on his rookie contract

10:05
Hi Gerry - if AR comes back would you say the team as it stands right now is better, worse or the same as last year? My thought is better. They finally have a two-pronged threat at WR. JPJ/Dean/Samual should be a top CB unit in the NFL. Gainwell was great as a checkdown guy but I think the new guy will be stronger as a runner. Only big gap I see is the Guard. Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I would say it's better, as well. Agreed

One fast way to move up in the draft in 2027 is through MT.  A new team would need to negotiate with the Steelers, correct?  If MT wants to coach again, what do you think a team would give us for him as their HC?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
That is correct, but only if a team wanted to sign him now -- and no team out there is looking for a head coach. By 2027, Tomlin is free to sign wherever he desires without any compensation coming to the Steelers
Bill In LA
10:08
Gerry, I'd rather just live or die with Will Howard. Aaron Rogers as QB would just be adding one more "Mike Tomlin year", as in the Steelers barely make the playoffs and lose in the first round. Who cares anymore for this? Let's try to have a real team, not just one desperate to win one playoff game. Are you with me?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I'm with you Bill. Nothing against Rodgers, but at some point you have to move forward. Look, they know it and want to make that move. But when?
Josh
10:09
Obviously the head coach and GM need to be on the same page as far as which players are drafted. But did Tomlin have more say over Khan his last few seasons? And if so has the balance of power shifted to Khan now that Tomlin is out of the picture?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I'm sure Tomlin did have more say with Omar, more than perhaps he had with Colbert. But it's never been a power struggle with either. And I'm sure the Steelers are willing to defer to their new coach to let him get the type of player he wants. That being said, that will happen only if all three -- MM, OK and AR2 -- are in agreement with the decision.

Hi Gerry. Any chance Aaron Rodgers announces one of the Steelers picks? It could be his coming out party.
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Sounds like a great theater, huh? Uh....no
Manjo
10:12
Do you now believe that Tomlin will never coach again in the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I never have said, nor am I about to say, never

10:12
Gerry, Besides running a 3-4 what type of defense is Graham known to run? How will it differ from the MT 3-4?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
I can't give you that answer till I see how we wants to deploy his players in training camp

Tomlin had an uncanny ability to win one score games and Monday night games. He also had the uncanny ability to lose 2 games per season to the leagues cellar dwellers. What is Mike McCarthy’s track record in these three categories?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
You also forgot the December losing streaks and the one-and-done playoff exits
Tom M.

In the last few days, the Steelers have signed some low level free agents. Meanwhile, they have a lot of picks in the draft. Wouldn’t they be better served by letting some of the late round picks fill those last spots on the roster rather than these guys they just signed? That way they can start developing younger guys who can grow into more significant roles.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
They have a better idea of what the guys they signed can do rather than a low draft choice. Plus, they are not going to use 12 draft picks. They will package some of those and move around

Hi Gerry, do you know if Will Howard works with a personal QB coach in the offseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Yes he does. They all pretty much do.
