If Vega, the safety from Oregon, and either Jordan Tyson or Lemon are still on the board at 21, who would you take?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Probably the Oregon guy

If Aaron miraculously doesn't come back this year, I'm hoping he doesnt. Would they sign another veteran or go with Howard and Rudolph?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
They would sign another veteran but I don't think it will be as the starter. I don't think they are thinking that way. I think they are fairly confident Rodgers is coming back.

Hi Gerry! Have seen a handful of mock drafts where some are suggested we draft a tackle in the 1st Rd like Iheanachor from Arizona St. Assuming Ioane is unavailable that is. Their reasoning is due to lack of confidence in Broderick Jones/Dylan Cook but with intent to start that OT at LG until we need him at LT. Am I crazy for hating that idea? I believe versatility is great but for depth, I prefer my starters stick to their position, learn and craft their game at the at spot, not put them out of position. Many have failed on our line as we have played them out of position. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac

I get your point, but I think they believe they have more pressing issues than OL

Player pre draft rankings are subjective. How are the Steeler's pre draft player rankings established or negotiated ? Do some coaches or scouts carry more weight than others ? Do they also include schematic fit in the pre draft ranking ? How are interviews integrated into the ranking ?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
It's all of those. Andy Weidl carries the most weight in terms of building the draft board, but he relies on his scouts' input. Then the coordinators have their input. After that, I would imagine it comes down to the way it works with the Steelers -- the coach and GM settle in on the players they think will be available to them. With the owners' approval.

With Kaleb Johnson and Roman Wilson barely being utilized last year, would this have originated with Arthur Smith, Mike Tomlin, or Aaron Rodgers (in the case of Roman Wilson)
Gerry Dulac
10:44
No, it would have been Tomlin and the OC

Gerry, do you like any of the project QBs in the late rounds? Wouldn’t mind taking a shot on a guy with traits like Green from Arkansas or the guy from North Dakota State
Gerry Dulac
10:44
I wouldn't argue with that

Gerry, where does Boswell's contract extension stand and what do you think the terms will be (annual $$ and years)?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
They want to extend him and I would imagine it will be near the top of his position -- like $6.5 million to $7 million annually

I understand that 12 picks are too many to make the team, and that trading some picks for next year even at a discount makes sense, but can't you make the case that given where the roster is and that a 40% hit rate on picks is a good year, that maybe you pick 10 players?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
They don't need 10 new players.

10:46
Do you sense a huge difference with the new head coach or more of "plug and play".. In other words, do you see continuity despite change in Mike's? Much of the off season discussions seem eerily the same.
Gerry Dulac
10:46
Well they are two proven coaches who know how to win, so maybe they share a lot in common.

Do you think Aaron simply doesn’t want to full with mini-camp and he will sign right after like he did last year.
Gerry Dulac
10:47
He could still sign now and be excused from minicamp. I don't think he needs to be at minicamp.

If Pittsburgh decides to move up in Round 1, say for Lemon. About how high up or what range do you think they would move into?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
If they move up in round 1, I don't think it will be for a receiver. There are several of those in Rd 1

10:49
I know the roster isnt set due to the draft yet to come but as of now, would you assume that Brisker and Elliott are the 2 safeties with Ramsey back into the slot or Ramsey will be a FS from now on at this point in his career leading to a safety rotation?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
No, I assume Brisker will be the fifth DB. Ramsey will be on the field somewhere. How and where is to be determined by the new staff

Can you see us trading up to get Sonny Styles. Wouldn't that make a splash?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
Nope

I watched Will Howard and OSU beat ND in the national championship game.  That was a solid ND D and Howard played All World in that game.  How did this guy fall to the 6th?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
I'm with you on that point

Good morning Gerry! Thanks for your insights! What’s ur opinion abt Allar? I think he will b worth a risk. He lacked coaching by an offensive guru at PSU.
Gerry Dulac
10:51
The problem I have with Drew Allar, having watched probably every one of his game, was his inability to perform in big games. The bigger the stage, the worse he played. Will Howard, for example, was the opposite

Surprisingly enough it looks like TE sneaks into a somewhat early consideration... is there anyone who interests you?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
Agreed. Not surprised if they take a TE on day 2, so long as they keep all of their picks. But likely by round 4.
10:53
OK kids, that's all the time we have today. I'll be at the NFL owners meetings next week so not sure what day we will chat. Stay tuned
