Hi Gerry. Love your chats. Always refreshing! I believe we will be a better TEAM than last year. I do no know if our win-lost will be better or if we make the playoffs (I hope) but i prefer a better team than what we had before. That will make us better in the future...Go Steelers!!!

We know Mike Tomlin's faults as a coach. He has a great regular season record, but we know his failings against inferior teams. Is his ranking as a coach elevated because of the dearth of really good coaches in the game today?

Mike Tomlin is a good coach. His ranking as such is based on the fact his record is very good. But I don't think there are a lack of good coaches in the league. There are more good ones than average or bad ones.

So,  it seems you are hinting (strongly) that James was allowed to walk to make Vance the temporary starter until their NUMBER ONE pick tight end is ready to start and play full time?

I never said that at all. Vance McDonald is their starter and they have no intention of replacing him. Their intention is to find another TE because they use a lot of two-tight end formations.
