Bonjour, Gerry.  Is being selected to play overseas again this year an indicator that the Steelers are still a strong international brand more likely to draw attendance and viewership? Or is it happenstance?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
It's just a reminder to those who might think their brand is diminished. It's not. They are a strong world-wide brand.

Making the cross state trek for the PGA? Regardless, who you got?  I'm going w Koepka, but Aberg is due.  I like Aberg's pace of play, but taking an extra second or two may be the difference.
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I wish I were. Never been to Aronimink. I'd go easy on that Koepka stuff, but I'm with ya on Aberg. After three straight second-place finishes, count on Scheffler. And watch out for Cam Young.

Bonjour Gerry!  Just saw we are playing week 7 across the pond. Here’s hoping we have a week 8 bye. Will be interesting to see how MM handles the overseas or long distance trips vs Tomlin.  I always thought arriving later in the week wasn’t the best idea.  Week 8 bye in  the cards I assume?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
It should be, just like last year

10:39
Hi Gerry!  Are you concerned at all that we did not get another high upside WR in the first 3-4 picks to pair with Bernard and bolster the WR group?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I don't mind Kaden Wetjan at all. Different type of player.

Was really hoping the game against New Orleans was indeed in New Orleans.  One of my favorite cities and never seen a Steelers game in the dome.  Oh well.  Next time……
Gerry Dulac
10:41
I think Paris is just a little better than New Orleans. Maybe by a lotta-bit!

When will Chris Boswell's contract extension be officially announced by the team?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Soon as he signs it I'd imagine

There’s been a lot of talk about McCarthy’s ability to work with and develop the young QBs. That’s highlighted by the inability of the previous staff to develop a QB.  My question is what about Mason Rudolph?  Can McCarthy get more out of him or has that ship sailed and we know who he is regardless of coaching?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
I think he -- and all of us -- knows what he has with Mason.

Gerry, glad we get continued coverage without interruption. Congratulations on the group staying together. Now that Boswell is signed, who is the next extension? I would think Porter in order of importance, but both Benton and herbig are important pieces, with her big being at a position that it's hard to find production that efficient, so in my mind you'd want to keep it. How does Khan thread the needle of extensions while keeping the salary cap space to have room for potential moves next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
Agreed. Porter should ne next up, but they really want to extend Herbig because of the age and salaries of the other two guys. That, though, will be up to Herbig. Does he accept a new deal or wait for free agency, where he would probably get a bigger deal? And how much do you offer a backup when you're already paying big money to the two guys in front of him? Sounds like good trade possibilities to me.

It’s been a wild offseason. First, the coaching change which is a rare occurrence. Then having the draft in Pittsburgh and all the hype about that. The expectations about the Steelers draft having so many picks and then a letdown, including the Lemon fiasco. The continuing Rodgers drama. And finally, the unknown situation with the PG and final resolution, albeit with changes. You and your colleagues have done a good job keeping a sense of normalcy but can you remember a more crazy offseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
It's been different, that's for sure. Let's hope for some normalcy going forward

are you surprised the steelers aren't playing in mexico city given their strong fan base there?
Realist
10:45
Do you think Trice will clear waivers?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
I don't think it matters. His time with the Steelers has run its course, if that's what you getting at.
10:48
Oops, forgot to answer the Mexico City question...am I surprised? Well, this isn't the Steelers game. They are the away team. Mexico has been on the list, maybe the top of the list, but not sure if that's still the case. I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers next "home" international game is in Germany.

Mason Rudolph played very well at the end of the season a few years ago, and we wouldn't have made the playoffs without him. Why not just go with him/Howard/Allar and tell Rodgers to get lost?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
That might sound appealing to some of the fan base, but I don't see that happening.

10:48
Good morning, Gerry. Mike McCarthy seems to be more meticulous, schedule oriented, and hands on than Tomlin. Has that been as noticeable to you, as it has seemed to me?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
Yes it has
Realist
10:48
There are fans who seem to think the Steelers will carry four QBs on the active roster.  No NFL team does that, do they?  I believe there is no chance the Steelers keep 4 QBs, do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
They will not. It's not like they're trying to decide between Bradshaw, Roethlisberger, Brady and Manning.
NY Steel

What were Mike Tomlin’s greatest weaknesses?  What do you project will be Mike McCarthy’s biggest weaknesses?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
Not winning enough playoff games. Probably for both
NY Steel
10:50
Why have the Steelers struggles to stop the run consistently in the last decade? Why have they found only one MLB (Shazier) who they really liked in that time?  Are the two issues related?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
A lot of it has to do with the amount of sub-package defense they play (75 percent of the time) when only two DL are on the field

Hi Gerry, Maybe to soon to be able to say, but how are we going to fill the gaping hole in production left by Gainwell?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
Don't get me wrong. I like Gainwell, I like what he did and was most deserving of being named team MVP. But he's not irreplaceable. It's going to be OK
Tim
10:53
Do you see Howard being given the same personal attention that Allar has received from HCMM when OTAs begin regardless of the Rodgers situation?  He has to see what he has from both, wouldn’t you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
I would agree
Tampa Too
10:53
Gerry. Who do you like in the PGA this week?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
I know this is really going out on a limb, but I say Scheffler, and not because he's No. 1 in the world

The Pirates suddenly got better this year when they let go of the nostalgia of the past, they didn't resign Andrew McCutchen, finally! The Steelers run defense got bad about 5 years ago, just as Cameron Heyward entered the age where large defensive linemen retire. I would bet you a years worth of Croissant and Iron City Beer that once Heyward is cut, the Steelers defense "miraculously" improves. Are we on?
