OK kids, we'll start our chat in just a few minutes, so get ready.....

OK, here we go.....

Stephon diggs. The beginnings of the new AB. You heard it hear first folks on the great Gerry Dulac chat!
Gerry Dulac

He has a long way to go to reach that level.

The tank scored 308 points last year which was good for 18.1 ppg. I hear 23 ppg this year as a goal. That would require 391 points. Seems like a big ask to me. Is this doable?  What can be done to reach this goal besides a leap from Pickett and Canada being fired?
Gerry Dulac
9:49
They actually averaged 26.1 points per game the final year Randy Fichtner was coordinator, so, no, it's too big an ask. Firing Pickett, if that's what you're suggesting, is a BIG ask.

GM Gerry! Can you describe a daily routine for the team in the season? How long do a player stays in the Steelers facilities?
Gerry Dulac
9:50
Players are usually there by 7-730 am and are there till 3-4 pm, unless their meetings go longer.

Any chance you can ban acronyms...the tool of the lazy?

If I could, I would...gladly.

Hi Gerry - I think many Steeler fans are hoping for an MC offense that is more opened up and dynamic this season.  In contrast, it's quite possible that the Steelers (and MC, MT) are very comfortable with a ball controlled offense that favors the run, minimizes turnovers and doesn't lose games.  While more progress will be expected and needed from KP, I'm afraid we still will be looking at something that looks and smells like last season when it comes to the gameplan.
Gerry Dulac
9:51
They are not only comfortable with that, that appears to be their plan of attack this season. That's fine, but they better find a way to have more explosion in that offense. It's what is lacking most.

Gerry. Who do you have for the US Open?  Also do you have any one in mind for a Michael Block performance?
Gerry Dulac

Viktor Hovland, though if Scottie Scheffler manages to hole some putts he might win by 4 or 5.

Hi G! We heard about a couple of Players during OTAs and minicamp, but hardly anything about KP8. How is that? I know it's only football in shorts, but isn't watching a QB in shorts more informative than say, a lineman? How' Kenny lookin'?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
Pickett is fine. I think one of the reasons you don't read a lot about him now is because you will be reading about him a lot more once camp and then the season starts. Also, the media is not permitted to write about anything they see in OTAs and minicamp. All they can do is get a player or coach to talk about what a guy might be doing.

Good morning, Gerry.  I think the Steelers did a great job of addressing the needs they had both in free agency and the draft. I for one am excited for training camp and the battles that will ensue during the long days of summer.  Are there any particular roster battles that you are anxious to see during camp?  I think OL, CB and ILB will be most intriguing.
Gerry Dulac
9:56
I agree, but I also don't think there will be many training-camp battles that haven't already been decided. The only "battle" on offense will be at left tackle, but, just like last year with Kenny Pickett, the only question is when Broderick Jones will be given the position. And there really isn't a battle on defense, except to see how good Cory Trice can be and does he get a roster spot. The only question at ILB is how much more has Mark Robinson learned. But the two starters are determined already.

Do you think defensive minded head coaches can have a negative impact on a young QBs development? Does there tendency to focus on not making mistakes overshadow building an offense to a QBs strengths?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
No. But I think an offensive-minded head coach might be able to help a little more. I think it's only natural, no matter which type of head coach is in charge, to go slowly w rookie QBs and play not to have him make mistakes.

Gerry thanks for your great work! Does M Canada live in an alternative reality that he doesn’t feel any pressure to prove his ability to lead this offense?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
That's what he says, doesn't mean it's reality. I don't really expect him to say he does feel the pressure

Like the chats. But how about no Tomlin criticism for just one day from the readers
Gerry Dulac

So far, so good, Jeff. Give it time

Hi Gerry - How about #15 at LACC, similar to the fun watching pro's play #7 at Pebble, watching the pro's finesse a lob wedge on this little devil will be good theatre.  Forget all these 290 yard par 3's, bring on this little monster!!
Gerry Dulac

Tremendous little hole. Take away Stillwater Cove and the ocean and this 78-yarder is better than #7 at Pebble.

I really want to be excited for the upcoming season but the fact Canada is still around makes it real hard to do so.
Gerry Dulac

Haha. I understand the trepidation. I'm sure you are not alone.

Gerry how long of a leash do you think Matt Canada gets this year?  I know they aren’t a franchise that looks at firing a coach mid-season.  This just seems like a year the Steelers could surprise the league and he may be a hindrance.  Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Nah. I think if they thought that he would not have been brought back. But it is one of the reasons they brought in Glenn Thomas as an offensive assistant to help with some of the concepts

Not a Steelers question I know but who would you rather have at this point in their careers OBJ or DeAndre Hopkins and why???
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Hey, they don't all have to be Steelers questions, and this is a good one because I'm not sure which I would take. But, if I had to, I'd say Hopkins, believe it or not. Can I pick AB??

I’m not a Tomlin hater, but his arrogance does turn me off. Have you ever heard him say “I was wrong” or “I made a mistake”?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I have not.

Morning Gerry.  Alot of Cowher/Tomlin comparison lately.  They have similar resume but I think one major advantage Cowher has over Tomlin is eye for staff talent.  Cowher had so many great assistants while Tomlin continuously maintain mediocre staff.

HI Gerry, Why can't the fans relax until training camp and preseason season is over. They will keep the best players they think will help win games. Maybe they know a little bit more than
Gerry Dulac
10:05
You know why? Because they can't. They're fans. They get excited, which might be another way of saying they tend to overreact and believe they know more than the coaches.

Still shocked by the PGA’s money grab with LIV, I have to wonder how far away we are from the NFL doing the same? Everybody (institutions) has a price they couldn’t refuse, right?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Will NEVER happen. The NFL has deep, deep pockets. The PGA Tour does not. They have don't have a TV contract or sponsorship deals like the NFL. No comparison.
