Gerry,  some fans criticize Art II for his leadership but I think he was right-on with the selection of McCarthy because he is a proven winner and an offensive (and QB) minded person needed at this time searching for the next Ben.  Don't you think that players, especially the senior vets, will buy into his system better than a first year coach would?

I was listening to some of your colleagues and they really think that the return position will come down to Heidenreich vs. Wetjen.  Does Heidenreich have a history of being a good returner?

They didn't use a fourth-round pick on Wetjen to not have him be the returner. Again, wistful thinking by some

What's your gut say happens with Rudolf?  Barring any trade partners, is there at least a chance they keep him, which of course meant they'd carry 4 QB's as they're not cutting Allar.

Morning Gerry! Highsmith on the trading block? The Steelers wire seems to think he could fetch a second-round pick next year to someone like San Fran. I don't agree that would be a good move, but do they trade either Watt or Highsmith before the season starts?

Do you think Skowronek will be the fourth WR ? And captain of special teams. I like him in gunner role and would like to see him get more play time on offense. He is big and can catch. Great football IQ.

He will not be the fourth WR but he has a chance to be special teams captain.

They won't keep all four QBs on the roster.  This isn't the 90s where one of the QBs has position flexibility.  The only way four are kept is if one goes on IR.

IN one game last year. At least one TJ went against a back up rookie and a 1 v 1 most of the time and he had zero sacks. That was a very bad signing and everyone outside I 412 knows it.

I think some people inside 412 might think so too. There's no question he needs to return to his old dominant self, but lining up on the same side all the time and not moving around isn't going to facilitate that.

Most are saying the Steelers will throw the ball more this year than last year, but others are saying MM likes to use the fullback in the run game which signals more of a running attack to set up the pass. Which will it be, fun and gun or ground and pound?

I think it will be a little of both. It should be more entertaining with the shackles that Mike Tomlin placed on the offense taken off.

Was AR getting rid of the ball too quickly last year because of bad line play or was it because he had no confidence in his receivers and therefore checked down to players like Gainwell? I am concerned that AR doesn't want to get hit and will not stay in the pocket to make a throw if he is going to get drilled.(not that anyone wants to get drilled)

AR is a tough dude, trust me, but I think the Steelers (and he) wanted to make sure he would be upright for the entire season, and he basically was. He is 42, after all. But some of the other reasons you suggest come into play, I'm sure

Any news on how they will treat the grass field at Acrisure? Are they going to use a different type of grass this year? The turf fields with the ground up rubber seems to be a lot better than the old astroturf fields that were hell on the body and dangerous. However, most say Acrisure's field was almost unplayable towards the end of last year.

The field was unplayable just that one time and they corrected it. And they are re-grassing the surface per the NFL's edict to be in compliance with their new field profile

On LT- makes sense to flip Fautanu given uncertainty on Broderick Jones availability.  What is Fautanu's floor at LT and what is his upside?  If I recall, most folks had him switching from LT to a different position out of the draft, so he wasnt highly touted as an LT was he?

Some thought, because of his size, he was ideally suited at guard. I don't care where he plays because, wherever it is, he has been outstanding.
